Good video. Respectfully though I think you’re looking at this through the lens (pun intended) of a professional. For most people, just wanting a modern all-in-one instant camera with Bluetooth capabilities, a decently sized screen and doesn’t look like a 6 year old’s toy, this unit slays and ticks the boxes for most. Also has the perk of not wasting expensive film. Could it be better? Yes, and I hope improvements come. But for what it is, it’s a great little camera.

No, I did make a "5 things I love" video. Have you seen it? You may not think I'm looking at the camera in that video because it is not critical of the camera like this one. Fujifilm watches every one of these videos. Critical videos like this one will help shape the next generation of products. A larger sensor, better build, and improved software will improve the user experience. For example, a better sensor would have given real usefulness for the digital files. They are unusable for anything other than printing multiple images from the camera. They don't even look that good when shared thought the printed images function. I don't disagree with you that the camera checks all the boxes you brought up, though. Those accolades are ik the "5 things I Love" video. Go watch it and you will hear that plus a little about what I think Fujifilm has planned in the future. Thanks for your comment.

Good video. I watched almost all videos about the mini Evo and can agree but for me at number 1 is the poor performance of the auto white balance because the pictures looked too cool. I found that in sunny weather best result is setting to sunny, cloudy set in cloudy. Meanwhile I subscribed to your channel.

Morning. I was lucky enough to own it early on. The only thing I'm worried about is that the cover for the charging port and memory card tray doesn't seem to be durable. It is not designed like Instax LiPlay because the memory card is rarely removed by us, but charging the device is a regular task, so the mount can become brittle and break after frequent opening and closing. I think this machine should design an external charging port for easy operation. What do you think?
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a very good observation. The cover doesn't really bother me, but I have wondered if it will last. Your comment makes me wish Fujifilm had done a little more with the design of the camera. No user replaceable battery. High wear parts made without the robustness Fujifilm would give it's upmarket cameras... Let's hope V2 will be better. Thanks for your comment.

Ahhhhh, I ordered it, had it, and just hated it. Wasn’t for me. I don’t know if it was just mine, but it used to lag between the filters! And the line on the printed photos, that was the dealbreaker. Simply wasn’t worth $200 for me. I LOVE fujifilms x100 series and all their instax cameras, just not this one. Thank you for all your reviews!
@RobertHamm

Thanks for your comment. Yes, mine has a lag when switching filters as well. I just deal with it. It's not that long of a lag but it shows that the camera needs a faster processor. The line in the photos doesn't show up often for me, just in a few circumstances. I don't like it. But I deal with it. Instant prints usually have some kind of flaw. It's part of the look. I appreciate your feedback and interaction. Good luck on your next instant camera.

Absolutely agree with the building quality. Is the silver part also plastic? And what are your thoughts on using a better constructed digital camera with more features in conjunction with an instax printer?
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm Жыл бұрын
Overall, my main gripe with this camera is the sensor. FujiFilm hasn't gone far enough with this concept. The camera is fun to use, and a good "Instax" camera, but a BAD digital camera. To your point- the best use for this kind of shooting would be an X-series camera and a wireless printer. All three, Mini, Square, and WIde. Why not? The worst part is that I believe FujiFilm is sitting on a gold mine. They just discontinued the X-Pro 3 because of "unpopular" reception or poor sales... The photography community screamed because FujiFilm put the "screen on backward". So, the community killed that camera. Most of the people out there reviewing the camera haven't ever shot film. that should tell you something. If you have to look at the back of the camera, if you have to "chimp" then that should tell you something about your skills as a photographer. With regard to the EVO. FujiFilm should have put in a better sensor. If they had done that, that would be enough. But they didn't. They should, and could. Take the Xpro3 and remove the rear LCD completely. Add an Instax mini printer compartment or even an Instax wide compartment. Imagine an interchangeable Fuuifilm Xpro3 series camera with that kind of printer built in. I'd pay through the nose for one. It would be amazing to use. There would be nothing like it. Think of weddings.. think of all of those beautiful film simulations. Shoot in classic Neg or Chrome, have a great raw file for editing.. and oh, by the way, here you go, Bride. Here is your Instax photo straight out of the camera... That would be amazing. And you can change lenses?!? That's money, right there. In the meantime, I still use the XT2 and An Instax Share Printer 2! It works like a charm. The Evo is nice, too, but nothing compared to that combo except more convenient. Cheers.

Hopefully Fujifilm will add to those filters with firmware updates. A black/white 'film negative' mode would be useful, plus the ability to change the filter effect in the second image of the double exposure mode.

Hello. I watch your videos about instax mini evo. According to the specification, we know that when printing from a camera vertically, the print resolution is 1600, and when printing from a phone, only 800. I wonder if this can be hacked if you dump photos on a memory card (correcting the name and metadata)? It will be cool if you conduct an experiment and compare several identical photographs under magnification

I would only use a camera like this is for posed photos. I would never expect a camera like this to do fast action. I am 52 years old let me know in the history of photography when has a instant camera been used for fast moving action.I know it was used for exposure checking doing portrait photography during film days.
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 4 ай бұрын
This is a digital camera, not an analog instant camera. The shutter speed goes up to 1/2000. More than capable for fast action shots. The problem is in low light with fast moving things. In the sun, there's no problem. You should probably watch some of my other videos about this camera.

I really never understood the point of the Evo. It doesn't work as an instant or digital camera, so what is it ? At least the Square format hybrid Instax cameras retained some aspect of the instant film aesthetic, but the Evo is just a cheap digital camera that output cheap digital photos.
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm Жыл бұрын
I think it is a good instant camera. The prints look good.. not great, but it would be hard to tell the difference between the Evo and Mini 90, although you could tell a difference. I think the prints are good. I use it at some weddings as gifts to the attendees. As a digital camera, and to use the digital files for anything other than reprints on the Instax mini film would be a problem for me. Some people will love them. However, I think it's a horrible digital camera because of the files and the lens. The software and concept is pretty cool. I like the idea of having a premium device with the same capabilities of the EVO but with a better build and, sensor, and lens of the X100 series. And I think that's my point- of you want that, then skip the Evo and get an Xseries camera and any of the Instax printers. You can have great digital files and awesome prints. Cheers.

Is it true, that once the battery dies you wont be able to use the camera ever again?? I saw a comment that said after 300 charges the battery dies and you can't use the camera again, it becomes junk.
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 жыл бұрын
It is true that the battery is not user replaceable. Fujifilm does not currently have a battery replacement service for the camera. A user could attempt to replace the battery if they were skilled electronic technicians or if they wanted to try it. It would probably cost more in time and frustration to attempt it than to simply buy a new one. None of this means that the camera will stop working after 300 recharge cycles. That's not how batteries operate. Batteries loos a little total capacity with each complete charge and discharge cycle. Over time the total useful life of the battery degrades. A new camera may be able to print off 100 images from a full day of use on a full charge, and may only have 50% of it's useful battery life remaining after 300 complete charge cycles. That means that the camera will continue to operate after it reaches 300 cycles, but at deminished capacity. So instead of printing 100 photos on a whole day of use, maybe you can print less than 50. Learn more about batteries with a Google search and good luck. I would not worry about the battery life. Just have a good time with the camera.

I'm also trying to find out if there might be a universal zoom lens that might fit the front. Do you have any ideas on what the lens diameter is? Or a zoom attachment that might work?

No. I don't know of anything. But you shouldn't be too afraid of using the digital zoom when taking pictures. It has worked well, especially with black and white images. I think it's a viable options. It is a little much for portraits, though. I would just get closer with it for portraits. But for landscapes and detail shots, it seems to work well.

Hi, Can I use a 128Gb sdxc sd card in the instax mini evo? If I want to format it how do I do it without deleting internal memory photos?
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 жыл бұрын
You can use that, although you may not want to. That will hold over 100k photos and would be a waste of a card and hard to navigate. There is a function to copy images from the internal memory to the sd card. Use that to transfer photos after you have put the sd card in.
