So, everyone in the audience seems to enjoy a look at the darker side of EVE, so today I'm taking a look at the 5 most common ways of cheating you out of your money in EVE Online and explaining all of the scams that you should be well aware of.

The best "scam" I ever seen was Send me ISK and I send you back half back. I send him 1 isk and he send me back 0.5 isk I was funny and 0.5 isk was worth it.

Most Isk Doublers wont double much at all if anything. The best isk doublers will double QUITE a large amount to hunt/farm/fish for whales

This Space Is like Real life ... If you So Mistake you cannot take it back if you give Someone money je dosent Have to give it back because you gave it to he did not forced you to do it ... If Someone kills you it Is NOT ok but if Someone kills you in Space without any security or people there Is noone to take care of your little soul ... And that Is eve - unforgiving And hard it all Is like Real life if you give money to Someone He dosent Have to give it back to you because you GAVE it to him you diddent bought anything from him you just gave it to him And He Does not to give it back to you same with kills if Someone kills you somewhere where Is no officer or people at all the officers can't do anything with it at the moment but in eve concord (police) has bigger trouble than another dead guy

The best scam I ever saw was in Jita from some Dude. He set up contracts for items way below what they are worth, like 10 Million ISK Ships for one million. He Always advertised them in local with a countdown, and in the end a lot of people tried to Accept the contract as fast as possible. Then, after 2-5 Contracts, the next one was set to a much higher amount you pay, let's say 100 Million. If 10 people rush to accept as quick as possible, not all of them are gonna notice this and somebody will still accept it, making the scammer money. I have not been scammed by this yet, I have actually made some Profit out of it. Simply because my noobie 1 Month Alpha acc couldn't pay these overpriced contracts anyways, so I couldn't accept them lol. It is actually a Scam where people can win, but the scammer wins more in the end.

This was a fun watch but half of these seem like broken game mechanics rather than genuine scams which is unfortunate, no actual social engineering required just knowing how to abuse an exploit in the game.

i'm very sad, years of playing this game and thought i new better than to fall for scams.... a few drinks, a careless accepted contract and i'm out 2 bil!!! thats enough for some people to quit over.... and that to me is the only problem with these harsh elements being allowed, it no doubt causes people to quit the game! i understand some people cry to ccp and get some love but i couldn't bring myself to do that... doesn't make me want to log in to badly right now though QQ

i've just started the game and find taht to make more mining I guess, i thought long term players had made millions of isk's so would've thought this wouldn't hurt (well...too much.. but annoying as hell... true...) as you could make it back in a short period of time....

Best quick cash grab i've seen recently is selling 10 quafe for 90mil on contracts, near a trade hub. especially after the quafe zero login rewards, people know the quafe zero goes for like 20-26mil so quickly try grab the bargain 9mil each contract, only to realise they paid for the commodity that's essentially worthless.

When I talk to players who are considering playing eve, they're number one reason for not playing already is scams. Nobody's ever like "yea i wanna play but im so worried someones gonna ask for my address and try to cut my hands off"

i quit eve long ago. i hated how they do their ships weapons its bull shit. the iceland people have no navy never did. they have no clue how armaments numbers and placement progress from cruiser to battleship for example.

Maybe try and do some interviews with some actual scammers from in-game? How long did it take them to start making serious ISK, how much ISK they make make from it on average per day and how often they actually scam? Etc.

I make normally 200-300mill per evening, but will occasionally get a gem that gets 3-5bill

@@givenfool6169 Loads but my most common instants are, bait and switch, contract scams, camp scams and "im new" scams. Then I run catfish ones that last about a week before they catch on. Generally after SP injectors and isk with those. EvE players be thirsty. Then long term corp scams where you play with a corp, build them a quick website on wix or a discord, etc etc anything to make you look like a trusted involved member, then once you get hanger/wallet access, clear them out when everyone's offline, skill extract the character and biomass asap.

the scam I remember the most besides those was market scams that included hacking the displayed price of items. I had a screen recording going on one time (dont have it anymore, it was years ago) GM's couldn't find anything and didn't believe me until i sent them the video. Apparently happened a lot and i was a rare one that had a video as proof, but it involved removing one or two zero's on an item in the market so that it looked cheaper than it was. This was based on an actual scam where if you didn't pay attention or were dyslexic the price looked smaller.

I learned that contrary to popular belief, publicizing scams does not ruin scams. It does the opposite. Also, when you actually double isk, instead of running off with a quick 1-10m, lucky clients will send a few hundred million to a billion isk. Happy hunting.

I came back to the game to see that it's the same old scams. They're not even clever scams. People re trying to sell TII frigates for 12 billion. Anyone with 12 billion is going to be experienced enough so as not to fall for such a a basic scam lol

What about the scam of setting up a courier contract with a stealthy high collateral and then ganking the courier who accepted it?

Thats not a scam becouse if your are a player that could accept and haul that contract in the first place then u should be aware of that risk, Also the chans of failure on that contract is entierly up to u as the hauler. An experianced hauler can absolutly get past a gank if they know its there even if its 1 of the big once where the ship needs a very specific fit to load the cargo. If the hauler dont use a scout to spot for the hauling ship and get ganked they deserve to lose it. Its not a scam becouse a good hauler can absolutly complete the contract even with ppl waiting for him.

I don't see that being enforceable, firstly, you cant enforce a countries laws on somebody in another country, so you'd have to be scammed by somebody local to you, secondly, anonymity would protect most people even if they were local, thirdly, all items in game, im pretty sure, are "property of ccp games" according to their eula in one form or another. the only thing that could potentially have issues in years down the line is plex trades, but even then I see it as unlikely as once you convert cash to plex it again is unredeemable value, so I doubt it will happen.

There is a scam that works pretty well in not just eve online.You put a offer for something very common and offer a high reward.However, you pirate everyone that trys to get you the goods. (or kill them the other way) I will give a example for other video game like a Rust.You make a trade station and put a AK on sale for 50 scrap (just to good to be true).However when a player gets to the vendomat, they will trigger a sensor on 2 door that will open and turrets will fire at that player, killing him instantly. Then you just exit a base, loot the player, clean up the corpse and wait for a next victim.

I’ve played 10 plus years and seen pretty much everything. Someone in a large null sec corporation tried to run the courier scam on me. I was advertising to drive a Rorq with max boosts etc in a null or SOV Indy corporation so guess they thought I was an easy mark. Showed how stupid they were, anyone who can effectively fly both combat and industrial capitals probably isn’t a newbie.
