This summer I got a nice full 6” basket of hoya curtisii from a big box store. I basically murdered it. Before everything died, I chopped what I could save & it’s rooting in a prop box now. I got my sister the same plant at the same time & her’s is fine, not growing, but apparently healthy. Idk what happened. But with all the stress of the last couple years, if a plant isn’t bringing me joy…in the bin! I refuse to cause myself undo angst over this hobby that’s supposed to be enjoyable

a bit of advice for you...since most of the hoya you show are common in my country..u can try using coco husk..pons are 🙅 no no to them..you right for humidity..they want like 65%-80%..btw..i'm from Malaysia

ZIP LOCK IS NOT A JAIL, IT'S A MOTHER'S WOMB FOR MOST OF THE PLANTS. YOU DON'T NEED TO WATER THEM AT ALL, THEY WILL FEEL THEMSELVES PERFECTLY CONSUMING THE CONDENSATE AND NOT BEING OVERWATERED ❤

My Australia’s Lisa journey has been the same! It’s such a diva! I gave up just last week. Leaves suddenly just yellow and become soggy - and I tried soil, leca, pon.
@cathijones3924 Жыл бұрын
I have killed two Curtisii and gave the third one to my sister. I also don’t have good luck with Australis Lisa. I won’t add either one of these to my collection again. All of my other Hoyas are doing well.

Hello. The Sigillatis does require high humidity.I was given a small cutting and I have mine in a catche pot with lid.Don't ever give up you are whare we aren't a country that's humid and sunny.Try converting to pon u think of that.

I water my curtisii and Lisa hoyas once in 2 weeks during cool seasons and once a week in summer time with spraying water on them every day. I killed curtisii once because of rain water every day for over a week. Lisa Hoya was struggling at that time too but I keep it away from rain water. They don’t enjoy the sunshine.

I have an H. Curtisii that I swear I have actually abused into submission, I've neglected to water it for months, ignored it, it's been through a massive leaf drop, and now it just putts along putting out new growth in my dry, air conditioned desert home with whatever humidifier action it can grab from the philodendrons it lives with. Idk I think it just gave up the fight and decided to do things my way 🤷♀️

Thanks for sharing now I know I don’t want a sigilatis Hoya. Regarding the Hoya crassipetiolata and the caudata mine are growing great. My crassipetiolata is actually one of my fastest growing ones and it’s not even by a humidifier. I didn’t realize these 2 were on the fussy list.
@MarbleQueen3 жыл бұрын
These are just my fussy ones probably due to my environment! I’m glad yours are doing well! Thank you for watching 🥰

H. sigilatis is one of my easiest hoya. Mine at my car porch, facing south. Let it get aired and dont wait until the soil media completely dry before watering it again. And this is the hoya that love small pot because the root system is shallow. Same as curtisii, once I transferred my curtisii to small pot, it started to grow for me.
@MarbleQueen3 жыл бұрын
Ooh I’ll definitely try this! Maybe their pots are too big! Thank you 🥰

Hi. What medium do you use?
@samai903 жыл бұрын
@@netji_ph hi, i have a few pots and each are using different medium. 1 pot is my regular soil mix (soil+small leca+perlite+pumice,charcoal etc), another pots is fully coconut husk chips, and one is using pafcal (my new experiment). They are all doing great 😊

Sigilatis (watch Basie) he explains how this hoya rolls. I have a small one for 2 months, has done nothing. I keep it moist and I keep it indoors. She is perking up. But no new growth. The australis lisa is slow, but does like sunlight, (east facing). I live in Florida. The curtisii likes moisture and lots of light. She grows fast, but prone to mealy bugs.

I believe you just have to understand that these plants are mainly from asia and depending on the altitude and elevations of which they come from their temperature and humidity levels vary. Even 2 hoyas coming from the same country can have varying needs depending on the type of structures that they have. Even when it comes to propagating some hoyas are slow/ fast rooters, you just have to do more research. Every plant is just worth it, from a plant parent point of view it should just be us not being able to grow them optimally or meeting their conditions.

For the sigillatis, if it loves being in a plastic bag, would it work putting it inside a glass dome? That way it wiill thrive at the same time appreciate its beauty as against wiith the plastic bag🙂
@MarbleQueen3 жыл бұрын
I am thinking of just getting an acrylic enclosure for all of these fussy ones so I can still appreciate them 😅 But a dome would definitely work just as well ❤️

You might want to check the roots and media incase you find them yellowing. Root pest like symphilids, root mealybugs do damage frm inside and hidden.

Thank youuu Sab! You're doing so well with the difficult hoyas, despite them being difficult! I wonder if misting them daily or keeping them in a humidity tray, will be a good substitute for the ziplock bags? (Oh my...why does this remind me of Calatheas all of a sudden?! Haha.)

Hiya! Welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting 🥰 Since I live in a tropical country, mine is actually around 55-70%, depending on the weather and if my AC is on (lower). But these ones just want some extra help I think, since they mostly enjoy 80%+ humidity 😥

When you put your plants in ziplock jail, is it okay if the leaves touch the ziplock?
@MarbleQueen3 жыл бұрын
Ziplock jail omg 😂 I find that for thicker leaves like with hoyas, it doesn’t really matter much. For thinner leaves like begonias though it does. They can get bacterial issues and rot. I would generally try to avoid it if possible! By using a large enough ziplock and blowing air into it before closing 😄
@werddie19923 жыл бұрын
Can relate to the sigillatis. The leaves don't drop but the leaves are constantly dehydrated 😕
@MarbleQueen3 жыл бұрын
