Cold frost morning is one of my favorites 😄. I was actually able to make a cover of the song on the octave mandolin some time ago thanks to you. Thanks for all the incredible information, I've been subscribed for years and you always impress me 🙏

I don't know how I'm only the 13th comment on this video. Thanks for these videos and all the work you do for the music community. I did have a question though, as a fan of Irish music you mentioned "The New Broom" album and I have very much enjoyed that one. Do you have one that was a big influence for you for old time or any other irish albums you enjoyed when starting out?

Thanks for the video. I’m a bit puzzled by what comes under the label “old timey” music. I see it as a subset of folk music, but different from bluegrass. Other than that I’m not sure what it is. I recognized Angeline the Baker, and Old Joe Clark, but just thought of them as folk. My main reportoire is the Playford collection of English country dance music. I haven’t found a session for that although the Country Dance & Song Society (CDSS) is probably where I would begin once I got the courage to go public.

I'd say old time is kinda like bluegrasses grand dad. Bluegrass came about when Bill Monroe took it in a whole different direction.
@chiron14pl9 ай бұрын
@@thomp9054 Yes, Bill Monroe is really a genre founder, so I guess by default every thing earlier old time
@thomp90549 ай бұрын
@@chiron14pl old time did continue on after Monroe. Similar instrumentation but different techniques and feel. Bluegrass is very on top of the beat, songs often end with higher bpms than they start with.
