Just drill and screw a strap button on the heel, like a guitar, then join the strap to that and the end pin. Job done. (I prefer to use a strap that is non-slip and adjustable)

I love the tune you're playing. The combination of chords and melody is really nice, what's it called?

Hello! I wonder if that one is easy to play for a beginner? Is it easy or difficult for the fingers of the left hand to play the chords on the fretboard compared to other models?

My favorite things in the world, the Mandolin and Tillamook. My goal is to try every one of their ice cream flavors. I LOVE all their chocolate offerings, but was ecstatic when I had the Black Cherry and Peaches and Cream. There is something creating magic out of Oregon. I am curious about your favorite flavors. The folks who work at Tillamook are so very nice. I had a theory that your beautiful music relaxed those Oregon cows to create that delicious creamy ice cream.

I thought the A style was louder. I also thought it sounded woodier.

The Octave Mandolin/Bouzouki is 4 courses while the Mandocello is 5 courses. Both are great sounding. Very Renaissance sounding. Had Bouzouki built by PW Crump in Arcata, CA. Have used it for a variety of genres. I generally use a soft pick so that it stays more mellow and does not overpower the mandolins and guitars in sessions. There are less expensive ones out there but they are not as nice sounding. It is better to have a louder one that you can control than one that is soft and you have to fight with it to get some volume.

More harmonic content and perceived midrange depth in that F compared to that A. Fuller sound, may be harder to tame with an EQ in a mix. But it's tough to try to arrange a piece where the mandolin doesn't do its job of being heard.

Here in Brasil it's almost impossible to find a good tenor banjo. You have to find an irish friend and buy it second hand. But one day I'll find one

I found a slightly more mellowness to the F style, but I really like the shape of the A style. I like the lute which is a teardrop shape and that is probably why I like the A style better. Thank you for the video demonstrating the difference between the two mandolin styles. 🫶🏼

Would there be a disadvantage or would it break some unwritten mandocello law if you had octave strings on the C, G and D courses - similar to 12-string guitar practice?

I like A-style mandolins. To my eyes, utilitarian functionality is more attractive than fancy ornamentation. It means they put al the time and labor into the features that genuinely matter.
