When my friend proposed me to follow "Papa teach me" channel, "Not fussed", I said, and I've just thought that's fair enough. After having watched some compelling videos, especially this one, however, I reckoned I might as well have known this channel much earlier. To sum up, I'm afraid I'm altogether fascinated for these compelling expressions.

"Fair enough." -fair enough² [a way of admitting while you may not agree with someone's opinion]: (American)"Personally, I don't like the British, because the British don't like us." (Brit)"Fair enough." -suppose so [used to show unwillingness (it's the opposite of enthusiasm) to agree]: "Can I go out tonight?" "Oh, I suppose so." -I'm afraid [used to politely say 'I'm sorry']: I'm afraid (that) we can't come this evening. Brilliant lesson as always :D

Very informative! The only one we don't use in the U.S. is "not fussed." We're a little more direct, we simply say "I don't care." Americans aren't good at making up their minds, either, so we say this a lot. Excellent as always, it just wouldn't be Saturday without a new video from you.
@cheetopuffs4535
@cheetopuffs4535 7 жыл бұрын
In a situation where one might say "Not fussed," I usually put the impetus of the decision more directly on the other person by saying "It's up to you." Otherwise, if I don't want to ask them to choose that directly, I might say "I don't mind" or something along that line or simply say directly "Anything is fine." :D

US translations/equivalents: 1. Not fussed/not bothered - No one says this in America, it would be weird if you did. We would say "I don't care" 2. Fair enough - Same meaning 3. I suppose so - ALWAYS say "I guess so". "I suppose so" is very formal. 4. I'm afraid - Same meaning, but it's not very common. 5. Might as well - Same meaning

I feel a lot of differences while talking face to face with only one person who's from English speaking countries rather sitting in a group with bunches of them. It's still a thing for me to understand what they are really actually genuinely talking about sometimes ... Pls slow a little bit down... from the bottom of my heart. Papa,Could you make a video about how to deal with it? Or just give us some useful tips would be blessed! Thank you in advance! X

Humm...I had the same problem, but I don't have a solution for you. I just got way more fluent and used to various accents. For a while I would just get lost to be honest.

American English is my first lesson, but I still watch these. Partially for the drawing, partially to see how you teach, partially to pick up British slang/sayings. It's very interesting. I've never heard "I'm not fussed" before, but it's something I'll use in the future!

“Not fussed” is a weird one for me. Not usually used here in the states. I would’ve understood but it sounds weird.

Thanks a million! I've learnt English for quite a long time but my English for daily conversations is rather poor as I only learnt formal language in classroom learning. Last month I went to Mid-Europe and met a lot of Aussies. They also said "fair enough" all the time! For the first time I heard that I found it really interesting and new to me.

@dianapalenzuela5298
@dianapalenzuela5298 5 жыл бұрын
@@Hiziyass sure, but I think Qutaiba wanted to use "fair enough". I can't really think of a similar sentence to use "fair enough". I use the expression to sort of agree with someone (not like "it's absolutely the same that I think", more like "ok, I see why you think that way". So an example would be: "- I know you wanted me to prepare dinner, but I have had a long day and I am very tired""- Fair enough".

Oh, first of all, I am so glad to see you again, and I am not fussed about what video on this channel to watch exactly, nor bothered what kind of topic it will be because of that I suppose so I do not know English at all! So I really appreciate the work of this channel. Oh, and by the way, in my language we have that 'I'm afraid' too. And once I had some funny moment about that when a friend of mine asked me whether I am scared of something as I used exactly that expression too often. I laughed because I was in really stressful circumstances in that period of my life, so that is the truth about all of us - what exactly we prefer to use when choosing our favorite expressions, that is all may show our inner state by that moment if I may say so... And oh, yes, it might be much better I return to learning English and get rid of my laziness. Sorry about so many mistakes - I am afraid I can not get rid of those. And as I said before, I am really grateful for your work. Oh, and of course thanks to Grammarly - you help me constantly!
