Where you been all my life? I have been on You Tube for 8-9 years trying all these looks that never have worked for my eyes, and honestly made me feel super bad that I couldn't do it. Now I know why. You have taught me everything I know. You and Wayne Goss are hooded eye gurus. I have come sooo far watching you both and I actually feel so good about my makeup. 😗😗😗😗

Great tutorial on eye brushes for small and/or hooded eyes! I am 70 years of age and have prominent brow bones, which has saved my eyes from becoming heavily hooded- I can still see my creases. However, genetically, I have small, deep-set, close set eyes. This video, giving such wonderful recommendations for the best brushes to use for small eyes has been so very educational. I pulled out those brushes I already had (or almost exactly the same as suggested) in my arsenal of brushes (I did order one brush) and have set them aside to use whenever applying my eye makeup. I will store them separately from my other eye brushes. Thanks again for such informative guidance for us non- professionals.

I am so glad you created your channel to share your knowledge and I am so glad I found you! I could not follow all the other you tube make up channels because they talk way too fast and the make up is so over the top not for me. But of course most are in their 20’s.

Hi Risa Great info thank you so much. I am in hooded eye category and I found this really helpful. I would love to see an eye look on shimmery shadows for mature ladies. I struggle a lot with that and it ends looking like a muddy Cyndy Lauper look 😀

+mlfetterman Thank you so much! You have no idea how much it means to me to receive comments like this. I've been a slow growing channel for so long now that it doesn't even bother me anymore- it is what it is- but I find comfort and encouragement in the fact that my subscribers actually WATCH my videos(I often get more views in an hour than channels three times my size) and learn! That's what keeps me going....people like you!! 😘

Excellent job explaining the whats, whys, and hows of each brush. I've had hooded eyes my entire life and at 49 they haven't fallen more, yet.....but it's only a matter of time. My other issue is that my actual eyes are on the larger side, but I've never had very much real estate to work with between my lashes and brows. My two all time favorite brushes are the Chikuhodo LE Eyeshadow brush from 2 years ago, and the Chikuhodo T7. I have several of each and even though I love collecting brushes, I could do my eyes everyday with just those two. Thank you, Risa! Here's to a great video and I hope you have a fantastic weekend! 🌸 Lisette

I saw your videos in my side bar for a while before I finally clicked one - most probably because a video about hooded eyes enticed me. Why didn't I click one before? Because you looked like such a gorgeous glamour gal, I figured you were much younger and the content wouldn't be as useful for me. It wasn't until I finally watched one that I learned you were actually over 35 :) So I subscribed after the first video.

Thanks, Risa! Love this! So important to have those smaller brushes even if they call them 'detail' brushes they are indicating they are small! Do need one clean brush for blending out the top edge if you have a harsher line. Some time ago Stephanie Lange did a Collab with Sigma on a set of smaller brushes for hooded eyes. I can't look them up on my iPad, too slow. Lol But the same concept and I think they probably still carry the set maybe just named different! I just need to throw a number of my larger used ones away (especially the older Morphe ones that shed all over). 🙄❤️

Risa Does Makeup Sigma just had a 30% off sale, but I was on vacation this week and just saw it tonight and it was CDT and of course it's PST here so sale was over and they don't advertise the set anymore. Do you know which brushes they were? I may have them, too, and just not know it and not using the right ones!!! 😳

Hi Risa, Have you ever considered hosing live interactive make-up classes, on line of course?? The type where many of us could set up and work through a tutorial with you via webcam?? I don't know how much over all interest there would be but I, for one, would love it!! Be fun to see four or five other woman follow a look and see how they all turn out. Just a thought I figured I throw out to you. I know you seemed to be looking for ways to grow your chanel, but still be true to your beliefs and our demographic and don't know if that'd help or hinder it, but just thought I'd share. I rewatch a few of the hooded eye tutorials over & over because you NAILED IT on those small helpful tips that have big impacts! Like, when to look up, when to look down, why to start with the crease first, and so on. Anyway, thanks for all you do and let me know if my idea appeals to you or any other ladies.

Great video. I don't have a 'crease' persay, my eyelids are puffy and when my eyes are open, you can't see the lid at ALL. It takes more work to 'manufacture' a crease and yeah, the smaller blenders are good, small round denser brush for outer 'v' work.

I have just been told I have deep set and not hooded eyes. I thought hooded eyes and deep set eyes were basically the same thing but I was told they are not. Can I still use some of the same techniques for hooded eyes on my deep set eyes? I have pretty much no space on my lids when my eyes are open and I am looking forward. I love all of your videos and I am so glad to see someone my age that I can relate to:) Keep up the great work!!

Fantastic video, and so educational! As a hooded eye girl with smaller eyes, I've been waiting for a video like this. I've been hearing "Don't use anything besides matte shadows if you have hooded eyes" for so darn long. What are your thoughts on shimmery or glittery shadows on hooded eyes? I love mattes, but I really like satin and shimmery shadows too.
@RisaDoesMakeup
@RisaDoesMakeup 7 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Machak I love shimmer! I primarily keep it confined to the mobile eye lid and lower lash lines. I even wear glitter on occasion. I don't believe it rules when it comes to makeup. I believe in experimenting and wearing what you love!

My lid space is smaller than yours so I use even smaller brushes. My 5 must haves: MAC 217, Wayne Goss 04 (original set) which is almost as good as my 23 year old MAC 36 that I don't think exists anymore, it cosmetics 105 (made for Ulta), Smith 253, and a tiny pencil brush with no markings I got from Crown Brushes when I was in esthetician school forever ago.

I absolutely adore you and you're who I turn to for everything!!! I have one or two questions for you, one I bet you haven't done live....I've got thick tattooed black eyeliner top and bottom, I wear only mascara and good skin care. Question: I don't need concealer or make-up but would love to do my eyes again. They're dry and that darn liner shows through everything and being so dry concealer looks awful and unnatural on me. I need help with these 2 issues. Dry eyelids and under, but I use excellent and expensive products, THEN THE BIGGIE, concealing this permanent liner.... There's no tutorials on this!!! I love your style and your so smart, gorgeous and I value your opinion, thank you for everything and your hard work!!! It's greatly appreciated> MUCH Love from a huge fan in the Chattanooga Tennessee Valley area!!!⚘😘🌻❤💋💄😀

I have a ton of brushed through ipsy and Boxy most are luxie and Moda, you are right with my hooded eyes I need at least one small crease brush maybe 2 of them and Morphe has a couple that are 8 bucks a piece and where I live in a small town it is very hard to find brushes either then Ulta unless I order them. I wish there was a "hooded eyes" morphe set theysild because I'm leu of buying 18 bucks for a couple brushes they have sets for 20 but I notice a ton of brushes i dont need or have similar to so I dont purchase them. Is there a less expensive brand I could get the small creae brushes in? I even bought a brush set from Amazon that had 28 pieces and as ton of small what looked like lid brushes, packer brushes maybe undereye brushes or even eyebrow brushes but I was sad to see very small variety In blending brushes, is that common in brush sets for them to not include these small crease brushes, I know I need the small crease and the one you used for the outer V, I just wonder where and which are the most affordable, as is is spend a ton on makeup and skincare eyeliner as I am perfecting my wing and I use up a ton of product on that. Can you make a video showing how to do a wing with shadow on??

Thanks for the video. I didn't find it super helpful, however because most of these brushes are from different places and it's just not practical for me to build a set that way. I can't afford individual shipping from each site.

+Kathy Brou I'm so jealous!! I wanted to use the promo to get extra palettes for giveaways, but my store only had three left in stock and two of them had been swatched! Those really needed to be sealed somehow so people can't stick their fingers in them!! 😡

Today is 3/2024 & nearly all the links provided go to sold out, discontinued, or no longer in business links. Do we have up to date options? Sometimes change isn't always great. I like an updated look, but leave the good tools alone!
