Thanks for sharing, makes my life easier having all this info in one place. I am currently debating a TN vs L (intra-company transfer). The L Visa originally seemed like the better choice because of the easier pathway to a Green Card. But is seems like you are hinting at the fact that the Green Card is not necessarily worth the stress and perhaps the better option is to perpetually stay on the TN. What is your take on the TN vs L Visa. And what about things like taxes and securing mortgages, credit, etc. Will there be a huge difference based on your research? Thanks man! A video on pathways to green card with TN would be great!

Thanks for the comment! I have my opinions on greencard, it’s probably against what most people normally say. So I would do more research on that specifically, I can provide some of my counter arguments if you’d like. In terms of the L1 and the TN, I don’t know much about the L1 aside from what I have on the video so I can’t really speak specifically about the differences. For mortgages I don’t have any hard data or research, but I have a friend who’s gotten a mortgage on TN. When I came I was able to get a high credit limit immediately through employer connections so I would look into that . For the taxes, I have a video about my tax situation when I move but you are better off contacting an account BEFORE you leave Canada, especially since your situation is more complicated than mine since I was a new grad when I moved to the states. TN video coming ( at some point )

I don’t think so. If I understand correctly your employer has to pre apply for your TN visa for you to get the i797b form. If you apply at the border I don’t think you get one

It’s really unfortunate that the US based all of this on your country of birth. If you still want a greencard you can just find a wife/husband, and get them to sponsor you, it’s much faster than employment based. There are also advantages for staying on the TN, I have a couple videos about if if your curious :)
