I really like Anarky. The original run was amazing, and made him feel less 'generic Batman rogue'. I feel like not enough is done with him.

Agreed. I think he’d be a good villain for Green Arrow as well. Id love to see a movie in which Anarky targets Count Vertigo and has an ideological conflict with Green Arrow about how to stop him among other things. And just for fun they should throw Onomatopoeia as Count Vertigo’s muscle.

I’ve enjoyed when Anarky has popped up definitely underutilized

Batman: Mr. Freeze by Paul Dini (*where it does adapt the Mr. Freeze origin from the iconic Batman: Animated Series episode "Heart of Ice").

Nice video fam! The Batman One Bad Day series is so good (a few that were better than others but overall great.) Some of my favorite bat villains are: Mr Freeze, Riddler and Scarecrow

@TheComicBookReport I knowwwww, it could have been such a retrospective into his life OR hear me out: they could use part of the story line from Titans (the live action) because seeing the gangsters actually afraid of him was interesting and kinda cool

Those are my favorite villains too along with of course Joker. Also, I haven't read the One Bad Day books yet but I am surprised Scarecrow wasn't part of the line-up as he's so ripe for unique storytelling. But so didn't Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, ect.

Even though I thought the art was incredible the book didn't really connect with me. In general I'm not a big fan of Tom King's writing for Riddler. Ending the game between him and Batman I feel is a fine goal for Riddler, but a terrible motivation. If Riddler wants to end the game then I feel he would do it to show Gotham how smart he is or has reached a breaking point after his many defeats and needs to prove to himself that he is a smart as he says he is. In the One Bad Day issue he does it because he has become bored of fighting Batman and riddles. Being tired of fighting is fair but ultimately he has to keep leaving riddles because his compulsive obsession won't let him stop. It would have been more interesting if the Riddler wanted to prove that he was the one who was sane and not Batman. Honestly I really thought the One Bad Day initiative for the villains was a big disappointment and really the only ones that I actually liked were the Clayface story and the Ra's al Ghul story.

Yeah Ra’s and Clayface were near the top for me in that box. I do agree I think the execution of OBD was a bit less than the premise had me anticipating but still fun. I’d like to see them try again though

Ventriloquist/Scarface: A psychodrama Two-Face: Crime and Punishment, No man’s land: Jurisprudence, Teen Titans Spotlight on Cyborg: The Two faces of Evil Penguin: Pain and Prejudice Joker: Going Sane, Devil’s advocate Riddler: A New Dawn, When it’s a riddle not a riddle?, The Riddle (from Batman Black and White) Clayface: One bad Day Poison Ivy: Pavane, Hot House Mad Hatter: All mimsy were the borogoves Hugo Strange: Prey Ra’s Al Ghul: Birth of the Demon, Legacy Anarky: Anarky in Gotham City Zsasz: The First cut is the deepest, The Last Arkham Hush: Heart of Hush

My favourite Batman villain is the Riddler and in my opinion the best ever depiction of the character is the one from the Batman Arkham games. Wally Wingert who voiced the character in all 4 games always delivered such an incredible performance that always managed to perfectly capture Riddler's obsessive personality, massive ego and superiority complex. It's Wally's voice I hear in my head when I read comics with Riddler. I love how his Riddler is next level arrogant and will constantly taunt Batman every step of the way but where he really shines is how he is up his own ass and acts as a sore loser every time Batman outsmarts him. It's for all these reasons that this is truly the best depiction of the character, because him bodies everything that the Riddler should be. He's pompous, self-absorbed, has a massive superiority complex and is literally unable to stop his compulsive riddling. I love the taunts and the boasts and especially the way he just completely melts down when he's beaten because he can't even begin to comprehend that he is not the smartest person in existence.

Have you read “When it’s a riddle not a riddle?” It’s a story in which Riddler faces Impulse (from the Flash family). Your comment makes me think you’d really enjoy how Riddler is written in that story.

@@TheComicBookReport I enjoy him too but clearly that was not a sentiment shared by the writers of Batman TAS seeing as they always referred to him as the hardest character to write in the entire show and they would often avoid using him because they didn't want to come up with the riddles. The problem with having a genius character is that the writer also needs to be equally as smart to write him.

@@The_PhantasmThe first time I watched the Labyrinth episode as a child I remember being thrilled for recognizing the reference from the myth of Theseus I had learned on school that very year. It made me fall in love with the Riddler. Such a fun episode. As an adult I came to appreciate more his last appearance in the show “Riddler’s Reform” for tackling his O.C.D. And for the clever riddles he leaves in the episode. (Also as a kid I remember I really wanted those toys he invented).
