I'm not sure if this would be achievable, but maybe reading books from authors of color and going to a restaurant and eating the food they mention in there? Like reading Crying in H Mart and going to a Korean restaurant or eating Korean food. Some people can't do this because of food allergies, preferences, and intolerances, so sorry if this is a bad suggestion 😅😅 also, edited: Please Kayla feel free to interpret my suggestion however you like! Do this with any culture or region.

I have food allergies and I think it’s a great idea! Even if you have to get a little creative with the food, I think it’d be a great way to explore more of the culture of the book you’re reading!

49:21 for soggy pie bottoms I might have a trick. It’s a tip that I saw a chemist show on a cooking segment on TV once and the few times I’ve done that I avoided soggy pies/quiches. Usually when you prepare a pie they advise to preheat the oven. So once your crust is in the baking tin, put it in the oven like 5-10 minutes to pre-bake it. After that, the tip is to coat it with egg white (1 egg white should do for an average pie). Put it back in the oven for +_5 minutes. It’s done when the eggwhite is « dry ». It’s going to create a coat like a varnish if you will, between the porous crush and the oftentimes liquid filling. At the end of your recipe when your pie bakes, if you start to notice that the sides of your pie are turning brown (which it could because it has already been baked a little) just put parchment/baking paper / aluminium foil on top of it :) Hope it helps !

You could get those "cold case" folders and solve one with Rob and Liam, or go to an escape room (idk if you can film there though so maybe an escape room board game?) Maybe you could listen o a true crime podcast, watch a true crime documentary? Like make the next theme a deep dive into recreational mystery solving like those themed dinner parties where you could even CREATE the mystery based on all your reading knowledge for Liam and rob to solve

I generally find most cozies are 2.5-4 stars across the board for me, averaging around 3.5 No cozy is going to be my favorite book despite it being my most read genre this year. I just enjoy the process of reading them even tho none of them are my next favorites 🤷♀️video idea: Most culinary cozies have a section in the back for recipes… maybe try making one from each?

Laura Childs Tea Shop Murder Mysteries. She is up to 26 of them. Theo owns a tea shop and she just seems to stumble upon dead bodies. Recipes are included as is a little romance and history of tea. Lots of tea shop gossip among the locals. Just good, clean fun. Always get hungry reading the books. I have re-read them twice over the last 6 years but am now focusing on getting up to date. I am on book 13. Just wanted to add that I am old enough to be your grandma (60) I am sure, but just love your videos. I think my favorite to date is where you bought a new car, oh you had me laughing.

I stress read cozy mysteries all through my 30’s, and I would say that there are a variety of categories. Some I have decided on are: librarians, small business owners (antiques store, knitting, book store), B & B or hospitality, renovations, pet/animal (the cat who, the pet sitter series), paranormal (main character talks to/sees ghosts or visions), historical (I love the Dame Frevisse series from Margaret Frazier), caterers/bakers. I will probably think of 5 more in 10 minutes. I think my all time favourite is Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. So good!

I love cozy mysteries! I've been reading them for years! For a renovation type cozy mystery, you should check out the The Fixer-Upper Mystery series by Kate Carlisle. The protagonist is a contractor and all of the books mentions the renovations her company is working on.

This was such a good vlog! It really put a smile on my face. I have been getting into cozy mysteries lately, and I'm also trying to find what's my "thing" for them. I also enjoyed A Deadly Inside Scoop and gave it the same rating. The series is really cute, and it doesn't blow me away, but its just really comforting and nice. I would love to see you try out the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, I LOVED that series in college and Finlay Donovan kind of gave me similar vibes, they're a good time!

I'm not sure if you're doing another cozy mystery vlog, but a popular South African cozy mystery / food related series is the Tannie Maria series by Sally Andrews. Every book incorporates South African cuisine because the main character is a Agony Aunt writer that believe food solves people's problems (but is also a detective on the side!). I haven't read it yet, but the reviews are favourable! The first book (Recipes for Love and Murder: A Tannie Maria Mystery) is released earlier this year as a series adaptation.

This was so much fun! I don't read a lot of cosy mystery, I'm more of a horror/thriller girl, but I really enjoyed the Wiccan Wheel series by Jennifer David Hesse. Small town cosy witchy vibes. 🤗 There's a romance, and a realistic, down to earth portrayal of modern paganism I really liked. The best part is each book takes place at a different time of year around a Wiccan holiday (Midsummer Madness, Samhain Secrets, etc.), so they're perfect for seasonal/vibe reading!
