The Afford-a-board fuzz bin was looking way emptier than all the other bins, so I decided it was time to start checking out more cheap fuzzes. And a viewer sent me a DIY Fuzz!!! (could this be the start of a new series?)

LOVE the sound of the Firefuzz. It's virtually exactly the kind of fuzz sound I've always wanted, a really rough and gravelly breakup, but without a ton of saturation or midscooping. About to buy one now, and probably would have never heard of it otherwise, so thanks for the video!

I really like my Caline Fuzzy Bear. Fun fact, mine has a blue LED instead of a red one. I like to use it on amps with a bit of gain on it already. On a clean channel its too quiet for my taste, but it works great for fat gain boost.

I love it too , been using it everyday for a year now , it's one with blue led too , it's really magic on strats ( and VOX type amps ) , it cleans up better than a lot of boutique fuzzes . Also it does crazy wonderful things when you completely roll off the guitar's tone control : you get all the treble back ! I use it as an always on , riding the guitar volume knob but I can't maxx out the guitar volume knob ( too dark and boomy ) or the fuzz knob( too much parasites ) , it's really a bummer cause you have to be really careful not to maxx out the guitar's volume knob when playing ...

The silver fuzz pedal and the Fuzz Face clones sound pretty good. The Caline probably has a switch in the back, like an MXR, that you can turn that volume up internally.

I have the Fuzz Seeker and the Fuzzy Bear. I really like the Fuzz Seeker. It feels a bit Muff-like, at least in the compression, and the octave is centered really well and nice a squawky. The Fuzzy Bear seems to be a standard fuzz face clone, good but nothing unique about it. But it does double well as a low-gain OD / Distortion, as Ryan noticed.

Great video! It’s great to see so many affordable options man. Like the fuzzy bear, but gosh I wish Caline wouldn’t put the power jack next to the patch cable jack. I have an older Caline “Puffer” fuzz that’s pretty cool because you can run it on 18v or 9v. At 18v, you get a lot of headroom and it cleans up really well with your guitar volume knob. ✌🏻

Only some fuzzes clean up like that, and honestly, it's usually for that old dusty fuzz that not many people are interested in... or maybe there are more of that old generation still strumming along. But really, what's the point in buying new fuzz pedals or listening to new fuzz pedals being demonstrated if you like that old type of circuit. They've been cloned a bajallion times, at every price point imaginable, by every different pedal maker. What I like about Ryan's fuzzquest, is that we seem to be on the same page, looking for the same things. You try to roll down the volume on the Cuvave fuzz and it won't clean up, it'll steal your bank card, drain your account, drive your car into a tree and pour a fifth of Jack Daniels all over the empty driver's seat. Very different kinds of fuzzes indeed.

It is pretty hard to find demos by people prepared to turn it all the way up for maximum filth. Frustrates me because "MAX POWER" tells you everything about the capability of the pedal, and is worth lingering on for that reason, it's a very important part of an audio explanation. THANK YOU for being the guy we need!

I LOVE this cheap fuzz counter-trend to "luxe" and "boutique" fuzzes with soaring prices! (Of which I have bought a few.) Reminds me of bizarro world, parallel dimension and alternate reality stories in the comic books of my youth. Fuzz is FUZZ, dammit - not some realm of sonic refinement! If a fuzz pedal can be made to sound more seductive or interesting by running it over with a tank - I say bring it on!

I have a Guyatone The Fuzz pedal. it is a fun cheap one that is a octave fuzz pedal, it plays a fuzz tone on the note you are playing and doubles it with a tone an octave lower and creates a vibrational dissonance in your head, it is awesome. and stacks well with basic overdrive and distortion effects.

"Can a pedal break an amp?" Yes. I accidentally did this with an old DOD pedal I borrowed from a friend. I had the pedal turned up all the way and the amp turned up almost all the way because we were having trouble hearing my guitar over the drums (our setup was terrible at the time and the amp was too small and weak). All of the sudden my sound COMPLETELY cut out. We stopped playing to see what was going on and realized that amp was fried. The most sound it could make after that was a faint bit of white noise.

I can report back that the Cuvave fuzz has changed. I got my first one after the first video back in February last year. I got another for friend in September and did an A/B. The second was less velcro-y and more muffy. The gate was very different and didn't fully gate the signal when there was very low input. The second one still sounded good but i far prefer the first one.
@alphanumeric1529

I do believe the circuit has changed. I recently purchased one for a good price on Ebay. It arrived, and it was insipid. It didn't sound good at all. It sounded like a boring fuzz. It was never out of control, no gating, no spitting, no nothing. Just boring plain vanilla boring fuzz. Today, I tried the Cuvave Fuzz and it sounded good. It had way more gain. I don't know why. I can't imagine that having a buffer in a pedal before the Cuvave would make this big of a difference. But my Cuvave today, had way more gain, and was way more insane. I spent like 3 hours replying to a bunch of people here tonight to try changing pedal order. But then, I was reading a comment by someone recommending the Rowin Frenzy Fuzz that Ryan demo'ed. And, I watched that video, and Ryan really showed how gated HIS Cuvave fuzz is. Mine is totally ungated. So, even with this insane character NOW coming out of my Cuvave, it is still not gated, the main reason I was REALLY hot for the Cuvave. So, now I'm spending hours, trying to write to everyone that I wrote to earlier that I wrote to earlier. What a pita. I don't want to be spreading false info. But... I do believe mine is a change in the circuit, or mine is a knock off, and they knocker offers didn't know what the gate was doing, or didn't think the pedal needed it, so left it off... but I'm sending mine back. It doesn't do what it is supposed to do, and that main thing is gated, sputtering fuzz. That's why we all jumped on it with abandon.

60 Cycle. I got a couple of boards and I want affordable options on the other ones like the ones I love on my bigger gig board.Most notably Astrotone. I like a lighter fuzz more muffy, and want that clean tone effect that can fatten up. So I look for a less crazy fuzz. Similarly, a blues driver. This don’t need to be drop ins, maybe different but I tend toward lighter tones.

The DIY one with that baritone is an absolute doom machine. Didn't like it that much with the harley benton but it really came into its own with the lower tuning. Same story with the Caline tbh. Didn't like the octave fuzz's filter, Firefuzz sounded less fuzz and more heavy OD/light distortion, Cream was fine. All were better with the baritone but I like fuzz for doom stuff. 60 Cycle Humbrew sounds like fun though.

Another cool one you should try (if you can get your hands on one), is the DOD FX 52 classic fuzz. This was the first pedal I owned. Muff level of gain with more mids. I think the manual stated they were going for some sort of muff/fuzz face/fuzz tone hybrid Cool unique sound. You used to be able to get them used dirt cheap. I think they may be somewhat collectable now though :(

I'm one of the guys (the guy?) that had a problem with my Cuvave that I just received. It's way less aggressive, no ripping velcro, no gating. I'm playing with a HSS strat humbucker, hitting it with that humbucker, straight from guitar to Cuvave, straight into the amp (how I test each new pedal I receive). I can't recall at the moment, I may have slammed another fuzz into the Cuvave, or the Cuvave into another fuzz, and I got something close to your Cuvave soundd Anyway, what I really wanted to say, when it came, I opened the box in front of everyone in my family, one at a time, and I was like, "How do you pronounce this name?" They all said "Cuvave"... well, your version of Cuvave Ryan. ALL! I missed how Cuvave wants you to pronounce Cuvave... I can't imagine another way to pronounce it. Every other way we tried didn't sound good, or even real!
@alphanumeric1529
@alphanumeric1529 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I played the Cuvave fuzz today, and it was totally different. Only thing I THINK changed is pedal order. It went from number one to number two. First pedal was a Behringer compressor, bypassed. MAYBE! MAYBE the Cuvave was on a different powersupply, but I don't think so. But maybe. But for sure it was placed second. And the sound completely changed. It was like a different pedal. It sounded like Ryan's Cuvave fuzz, and I probably made Ryan's face when I hit the first note through this pedal with it working properly (or almost like, not working properly, it's got that insane broken fuzz sound that I've sought all over, and only found affordably in the form of Cuvave fuzz, and the price was even still reasonable after Ryan blew the pedal up). So, I don't know, if you've been hearing about a different Cuvave Fuzz... I don't know. I emailed the seller on Ebay and asked if the Cuvave Fuzz they sent me was a knock off. They wrote back asking for a video and they'd contact their distributor, which is the equivalent of "fuzz off". But, I had one of the duds... and I don't know what happened, but it turned into the insane gated fuzz we've all been looking for. I don't know why. I was totally crestfallen. But I'm head over heals now. I love this fuzz. If you can find a good price (and it is going up everywhere, some of that is whatever the hell is going on between China and the US, and some of that is Ryan freaking blowing this pedal up), I say go for it. Just make sure you can return it. And, I don't know. Keep it plugged in for a long time if it initially sucks. It seems like it charged up finally! It now has SO much more gain. I know I sound like an idiot. But I don't know what to say. I know a little about electronics, and I can't figure out what changed to change this pedal. I don't think a prior buffer should have this degree of effect on a pedal's sound. I do have a kinda long cable run, a 20 foot guitar cable before the first pedal on my board. I'm usually sitting in front of my board, so don't need such a long chord, but I'm also walking around the studio with the guitar on, like walking over to the computer area, or over to the pa/mixer, or whatever. But, it is a 20 foot cable run on an unbalanced guitar signal. But it shouldn't be that drastic, it should cut some 18khz, which I can't hear at all anymore... but it shouldn't change the sound of the pedal... I don't know, dudes. I don't know what to say. I don't know why. I'll do more testing tomorrow. But, if you find a good price, and you see pictures of the actual fuzz you're buying, and it looks like Ryan's OG Cuvave fuzz, not the later ones that he received with 60 Cycle Hum artwork, with the large Cuvave with umlats and stuff, but just the OG, I say go for it. Maybe there is a separate issue going on. I thought I got a broken one, or a knock off. Maybe someone is selling knock offs? I thought I got one. But it looks EXACTLY like Ryan's OG fuzz, and now sounds like it as well. My apologies for not having a solution, or better description, or a scientific process. But I'm just telling y'all what has gone on with my Cuvave Fuzz.
@alphanumeric1529

OMG. This has been a pita. So, someone in these comments just linked me out to the Rowin Frenzy fuzz, which Ryan compares to the Cuvave Fuzz. There he made it totally apparent the extent to which HIS Cuvave Fuzz is gating its sound. So my pedal somehow jacked itself up today, maybe a pedal order switch, maybe, but not likely a powersupply switch, but it get heck of gainy, and ripping velcro insane. Which is great. I thought though, that Ryan was using mutes to get that sputtering, splatty sound. And he is. But his Cuvave is GATING itself. It is shutting down it's output at low volumes. Mine is not doing this. In fact, the first thing I heard today when I switch the Cuvave on today, is the gain buzzing away, which was new for my Cuvave pedal. In the past, it was much lower gain, and way tame, and not really all that insane fuzzy. So, today my pedal was much higher gain. But the point is, my pedal was not gating itself. And, now I realize, after watching the 60 Cycle Hum Rowin Frenzy Fuzz vid, that my pedal is still different than Ryan's Cuvave fuzz. It does NOT GATE at all, still. So, I've replied to a bunch of people on the comments of this vid, people that are wondering about this new batch of Cuvave pedals, if they are knock offs, or what. I was telling everyone that I had the Cuvave dud problem as well, earlier today. Then I spent a few hours, literally, trying to reply to people that my Cuvave Fuzz sounded good today, after a peddle order switch (or for whatever other reason, I don't know, maybe, low chance, a power supply change). But in looking even more closely at what Ryan's Cuvave Fuzz is doing, gating itself, I'm BACK to thinking I'll return this Cuvave Fuzz. I was looking specifically for that gated effect, and that insane sputtering and splatting that goes along with it. My pedal is not doing that. And it isn't gating itself at all, so it is passing it's just background gain hum and buzz, and Ryan's doesn't do this... oh man. Today has been a rollercoaster of fuzz emotions, and sh!tload of work, trying to reply to everyone...

Got a Cucave Fuzz in today... Not sure if the circuit is changed, but it does not break up like the version used on 60 Cycle Hum, sounds more like an overdrive, pedal is also very noisy even at lowest gain. No bias pots on the inside either. There is no insulation at the bottom, so if the footswitch should loosen over time there could be a risk for the board to drop and short circuit.

I posted this following to someone else in the comments asking about this issue. But short version: I got a Cuvave Fuzz "dud". But I played it today, in a different pedal position, #2 rather than #1, and it SCREAMED. It sounded like Ryan's OG Cuvave fuzz. Ripping velcro, gated insanity. I can't believe that a buffer from a prior pedal is responsible... but... I don't have any other explanation. It seems like the pedal charged up, or biased or something. Just the gain/volume was different, like at noon, it was SO much louder, I heard it immediately when I clicked it on. I'm typing everything I was gonna quote. Read the following if you can. But I got a dud, and now I've got that insane Cuvave fuzz, and I don't really know what changed. Okay, weirdness. I moved my recently purchased Cuvave from first pedal to second pedal, behind a Behringer compressor, that was bypassed, and the Cuvave sounded like Ryan's OG Cuvave fuzz, like insane gated fuzz. I mean, I don't think that putting a pedal with a buffer in front of a fuzz should change the sound that much, but, I don't know. I knew it instantly when I clicked it on. I turned the gain and tone knobs to 12 o'clock and the fuzz to something low, like 10 o'clock, and as soon as I clicked the pedal, I could tell it sounded different. I could hear just the noise of the pedal and all of its gain. It was NOT like this the first several times I played through it. I hit a note, and it was huge! And helluv fuzzy. At 10 o'clock on the fuzz, and volume and tone at 12 o'clock it was way WAY gnarlier and louder than all the other times I'd straight DIMED the pedal. I really don't know what is going on. I didn't have time to switch the pedal order, and put the Cuvave back in first position... to see if it'd change the sound back to how it was... but I kind of think that it won't. The whole behavior of the pedal was different. The amount of gain was INSANE. Honestly, it was so mild all the times I played through it previously. It's almost like... the battery charged, lol... that's the best I can explain it. It when from being an almost discharged battery, capable of lighting the dashboard lights, but incapable of starting the car, to a brand new full charged battery and the car started RIGHT up. @@JoeBaermann That is a pretty sick fuzz, and for $175 used, sounds good. If you've got that kind of money, I'd say go for it. The Cuvave may be a two or three trick pony, but it seems like its all about that sputtering, spitting, bright, broken fuzz sound. The Fuzzly can do a wide range of sounds, and most of them are killer. But I love the Cuvave because I can't find another fuzz that is as insane with that gated, sputtering fuzz for anything less than 5 times the price. The cheapest, closest pedal is the Way Huge Conquistador. But that is like $115 used. If you have the money to spend, don't cheap out, support smaller, in country builders. Me, I'm disabled, I have no income. The Cuvave Fuzz is a Godsend for me. I can work with a sound that I just flat out could not afford if it weren't for Cuvave. It sounds like you can drop a couple hundred on a single fuzz pedal without too much thought, so GO FOR IT!

Hey, I was one of the people that recently got a dud Cuvave fuzz for a good price on ebay. I played it on at least four separate occasions and it was boring, low gain... nothing like Ryan's Cuvave fuzz(es). I went down to test it today, and previously I'd had the Cuvave as the first pedal, so direct from guitar to Cuvave fuzz. But, I wanted to test the pedal later in the order, so I put a Behringer compressor first, and made the Cuvave second. But when I made the switch, I had to go, I never had a chance to hear it. But today I went down, and the second I clicked the fuzz on, it was different, I knew it immediately, it had SO much more gain. I could hear it just buzzing. I turned the volume and tone down to 12 o'clock, and the main fuzz knob down to like 10 o'clock. I hit a single note and it was like a chainsaw in your brain. It was that insane "60 Cycle" Cuvave fuzz. Totally insane, high gain fuzz, ripping velcro, gated, broken sounding in the best way. I dimed it and it was madness. I'm now so psyched. Because waiting for the pedal, I was like a kid on Christmas eve, I was frothing with anticipation. I've searched out an affordable gated fuzz, and have found nothing affordable. I've found high end, big money fuzz, like the Way Huge Conquistador Fuzz, which for me, is big money, even used. You never really see Conquistadors on the used market. You'll see a couple, and they'll be used, often beat up, and only $10 cheaper than new... But that has been the cheapest psycho fuzz I've been able to find, but I couldn't afford it. But the Cuvave when Ryan found it, in that video, I was like "BAM!" that is the fuzz sound I've been hunting everywhere for, for a long time, too. But then it arrived and it was suck a55. Totally boring, lame, tame fuzz, even dimed it was just fuzzy. Nothing like Ryan's demo'ed fuzz. I contacted the ebay seller to ask if it was a knock off of a real Cuvave. I didn't want to open it and check the circuit board, because I was going to send it back. I tried many times, with a couple different guitars, and no love love. Boring fuzz. But today, in second position in pedal order, it was insane, it was THE Cuvave fuzz. So, I don't know what happened. I mean, there is a buffer in the Behringer compressor. But I can't believe it is having that major of an effect on the Cuvave fuzz. I mean, maybe it is. I didn't have time to test it. I freaking rocked out, haha, just went wild jamming. But didn't have time to swap the Cuvave back to first pedal. So, I don't know what to tell you. If you're thinking of getting one, I'd say go for it. I don't know what happened with mine. It is like the battery charged or something. That is honestly what it seems like. Like it sat plugged in and powered, but bypassed for long enough to charge it up, or... properly bias it. I don't know. But I now have that crazy chainsaw fuzz I've been looking everywhere for. Best of luck.

Okay, I can't believe there is even MORE to this story. I'm going to cut and past from another one of my comments to replies of this video, because I've been typing for over 4 hours trying not to spread false info, and share what I've figured out about this whole Cuvave Fuzz thing. As I LOVE the sound of Ryan's Cuvave Fuzz, and I was heart broken, honestly, when my Cuvave DuD Fuzz arrived. Here is that updated post: I do believe the circuit has changed. But then, I was reading a comment by someone recommending the Rowin Frenzy Fuzz that Ryan previously demo'ed. But... I do believe mine is a change in the circuit, or mine is a knock off, and the knocker offers didn't know what the gate was doing, or didn't think the pedal needed it, so left it off... but I'm sending mine back to the ebay seller. It doesn't do what it is supposed to do, and that main thing is gated, sputtering fuzz. That's why we all jumped on it with abandon. Back to being sad as hell!

I got one off of ebay for a good price a couple weeks ago, and it is a dud. I'm thinking it is a really well done knock off, or they ran out of a "magic" component and slotted in another similar component, but the Cuvave fuzzes suck now... I don't know. I don't want to open my Cuvave up, because I may still return it. My heart did break when I plugged it in, dimed it, and slammed a power chord only to get a polite SHzzzzz on top of my guitar sound.

That's what it's like. And I have NO clue what is going on. I can't believe it is just the buffer of a pedal before the Cuvave. I'll have more time tomorrow to switch everything around, and switch power supplies and whatnot, do all the testing to try to shed some light on what is going on. But... I saw the Fuzz Seeker for sale, I wondered... I'm a knobby kind of guy, I like to tweak to get right where I want to go. So, I had to stroke my beard real hard on the Fuzz Seeker... now seeing Ryan's video... dodged a bullet there. They really messed something up with the potentiometers' range, or taper, or something else in the circuit, a capacitor, or resistor or something in the circuit is just really wrong to only be able to get that highly filtered, nasal whine. It really is an awful sounding fuzz, and that is usually a good thing! But the Seeker proves the exception to every rule, you can actually have an awful sounding fuzz that is ACTUALLY awful. Maybe Ryan's specific unit was broken, or some nutter just soldered the wrong component into the circuit, or if they're smd, maybe some robot was getting jiggy and swapped a few capacitors, or maybe a whole batch of these were manufactured with the wrong components? Like, I have to believe someone tests out a design by playing a guitar through an amp, before they go to production, even in China, right? Or is the CCP really cracking the whip after Covid, "MUST INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY!" and designs are now going right into manufacturing without ever being tested? Is there a guitar amp out there that is just HUGELY bassy, and they used that as a test platform, and they developed a circuit that tamed the overwhelming low end? Sh!t, I play through a Bugera 333, clean it can give me clean as a whistle Fender tones, but I've got to work to tame the bass, those 6L6's have a big bottom end. Maybe they were testing through a Bugera??? I'm just grasping at straws to understand HOW a pedal like that could go into production? China really is a black box, who knows what they are thinking... with the names of their companies/brands? Graphics? Actual sounds? CHINA IF YOU ARE LISTENING: I'D BE HAPPY TO TEST YOUR DESIGNS, BOTH CIRCUIT AND GRAPHIC. I was signed to Interscope Records in the 90's, I've produced electronic music for over 20 years, I've worked as a sound/interface designer on the #1 music production app (at the time) in the App Store. I also started a successful LA based graphic design firm, we did everything from motion, sound, print, and web design. And ended up specializing in branding/rebranding small to medium sized companies, though we did also handle more straightforward corporate work for the likes of AT&T and other corporate giants. SERIOUSLY CHINA, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS COMMENT, PREVENT DESIGN DISASTERS BEFORE THEY HAPPEN! DOMINATE THE MARKET! I'm serious!

The Muff is a perfect example of how the terminology is kind of fuzzy (hoho). They call it a distortion, it sounds like a fuzz (super saturated) and the circuit makes it look like an overdrive (negative feedback soft clipping). There is no hard line between any of them really.

@dylandenney3980 3 жыл бұрын
@@eyeball226 Yea that was kinda my point. Well that and if u know what a big muff is at all you probably should be used to the term "distortion" attached to a fuzz. The line between Muff and Rat is thin. No clue about the circuit but in terms of sound the rat is a fuzzy distortion and the muff is miles away from a Fuzz Face or Tone Bender. And some overdrives get into fuzz or distortion territory. All 3 are technically distortion it's a very fine line between one and another
@eyeball226
@eyeball226 3 жыл бұрын
@@dylandenney3980 The big difference between a RAT and a Muff is the type of clipping. The RAT uses diode hard clipping to ground after an OP amp gain stage. That's probably the most common technique for things calling themselves distortion pedals. If had to make a sweeping generalisation, I'd say: fuzzes work by overdriving transistors directly (i.e. fuzz face, tonebender and all the other things in that family), distortions work by using diodes to ground after a gain stage to hard clip the signal (RAT, DS-1 etc.), and overdrives work by using diodes in the negative feedback loop of the gain stage in order to soft clip (Tubescreamer, OD-1 etc.) Of course that's not the only way to define it since by that definition the Muff would be an overdrive and it certainly doesn't sound that way!

@@dylandenney3980 Dude, my Rat does not sound like my Muff, and my Muff does not sound like my Rat. In my mind, those two pedals ARE the distinction between "Fuzz" and "Distortion". Like, I've got a Rat on my board, and I've got a Muff, and other fuzzes on my board. And if I want distortion, like a rock sound, I go for the Rat. If I want a jumbo insane fuzz, well, I go for a Muff, or a Swollen Pickle, or a Behri Superfuzz, or any of the other fuzzes I'm running. They do really different things in my ear and mind. Like they're totally different genres, in my way of hearing or thinking. Like Rat is Rock, and Muff is Indie or Alternative, or whatever, post rock, or whatever all that is now. But that Rat... it IS Rock. And for temporal perspective, that's from being born in the earlyish 70's, and coming up through all these genres and gear/tech. Anyway, fwiw.

But the quality of a Rat's distortion can be very "fuzzy" and a muff sounds nothing like typical 2 or 3 transistor fuzzes. I'm not saying they sound alike I'm just saying the difference between those 2 is less than say a ds1 and a tone bender. And even most pedal builders refer to a Rat's distortion as "fuzzy"

Okay Miles, you crashed FF for the first time in a year. Thanks! Naw, FF crashed while I was responding to you. Was writing to say, "You crazy, homie!" I don't think the Seeker is doing QOTSA. Like, QOTSA has a f'ed up fuzz sound, and the Seeker sounds like a f'ed up fuzz. But the twain do not meet, in my ear. Listen to demos of the Way Huge Conquistador, THAT pedal does QOTSA in my mind/ear. I didn't hear anything out of the Seeker that sounded good, just bottom line. And, again, I'm aware, QOTSA's broken fuzz sound "sounds bad" to many people, but many people love that badass sound, and I just don't hear it out of the Seeker. Like it has a lot of knobs, but the fundamental character never seems to change. Or maybe Ryan didn't do it justice. I don't know. But that fundamental character that I'm hearing in this video alone, just is not QOTSA. I mean, maybe if the guitar was recorded clean, and one layer of the guitar sound was passed through the Seeker, and the Seeker also developed the ability to sound gated... maybe then! But there'd be a whole lot more going on to actually get that full sound. Now listen to Andy's Way Huge Conquistador demo! THAT'S QUOTSA! Haha. Fun times.

An outline wouldn't work because the active space changes with each new product. Ive been thinking about rigging up a monitor at eye level but that takes money. Ill probably make it happen eventually though.

And I don't know if they're the ONLY fuzz you need. There really is so much range in what fuzz can sound like. It is kinda crazy. But I feel you bruv, those two fuzzes are pretty damn insane. I've got a Swollen Pickle, and that thing can get hulluv wild, and has essentially 7 knobs, and can make a HUGE range of fuzz sounds. It is amazing. I haven't gotten it to do gated sounds, so I've been gated fuzz questing, thus the Cuvave Fuzz fascination. My Cuvave is finally working right, so I'm in Fuzz heaven.

No germanium in there? It's like all the Chinese "analog delays" that are pure digital. I remember way back when (recently, only like 3/4 years ago, haha! when I discovered that all those Chinese pedals were actually digital. I'd never bought one, but I was impressed with the options for analog delays! haha!) I wonder what it is like to live and work in a culture where outright lying is accepted as the norm. Pretty hard to do anything, I'd imagine. But at least you can get isolated power supplies for cheap! LOLZ!

@@alphanumeric1529 nope, no germanium parts in sight. O damn, never thought about those "analog" delays before, but it's not surprising. Are those power supplies any good? Thinking of expanding the pedalboard.

@@ScipioAfricanus100 There are some legit toroidal transformered, individual regulated/isolated channel power supplies, but they're at or around the hundred dollar price tag, and I don't how robust they are. I've been doing a lot of research lately. I found an Ammoon powersupply in December that supposedly had legit isolated outputs, and it was only $40. I didn't get a chance to buy it before Christmas with usual holiday madness. But I went to buy it the other day, and the price is up to like $50-55. And then I did more research, and it is a rebrand of another powersupply, and I heard some negative comments. SO hard to get to the truth anymore. The negative comments could just be other sellers, or online "marketers" for Strymon, or other Chinese powersupply makers... or I don't know, maybe defective units. So, I don't know what to do. I don't have the money to put into a high end powersupply, or into anything anymore. I do have an analog drum machine to purchase, waiting to see if there are any new products coming out of Arturia this year... anyway. I can't spend a couple hundred for a quality power supply. I'm currently using a Caline powersupply, that is marked as isolated, but it isn't really isolated, I checked myself with a multimeter, all the grounds of each output go to a common ground. I don't have bad noise problems, and I've got everything with th. e Caline, which actually is pretty cool, in that its got... I dont' recall, like 8 9v lines, a 12v line, and an 18v line, and one 9v 500ma line for heavy digital pedals. That does fit my needs, as I've got an old ACA boss pedal, so I send it 12v, and I've got an OCD clone, no surprise, and it can run at 18v, and it does sound a lot better to my ears. And, I've got a bunch of other 9v pedals. So, I have a few daisy chains off of a few of the 9v outputs, and I have about 4 other wallwart 9v powersupplies that have a few pedals on each. I have the Caline powersupply and a power strip mounted under my board, and I'm running... I don't know, like 14 pedals. Everything powers up easily. A lot of my pedals are fuzz pedals, they draw low ma, like 6ma, on a 200 ma power line. I've got a Zoom CDR that is relatively power heavy, and power noisy. That pedal is actually a problem. With my supplies, it kicks off a nasty whine around 6khz. It was a problem at the only gig I've played in a long while. But that is about that pedal. The only other noise problems I have are a couple Behringer pedals, a chorus and a vibrato, which are analog, but have "digital" timing circuits. They're not truly digital, like the audio is converted to digital info, but the FCC defines any part of a circuit running over a low rate, something like 10khz or something, as a digital component, but they're digital in that the timers run over that FCC speedlimit. BUT, I can hear those timing components making all kinds of digital elf noises when the pedals are on, and even bypassed. It is a pain in the ass. And again, I've put those pedals on individual wall wart powersupplies, and I can still hear all the chirping and whirling noises. So, I don't know how to quiet those pedals, as from what I can tell, they'll still pass the noise through their ground on the audio line. Anyway. That's my download on this issue. You happened to ask me something that I've been researching pretty heavily. I think I have to delay a power supply purchase. The noise problems aren't enough to stop the work I'm doing now. I'm writing, and still learning to play the guitar. I ignore the insane digital elves, or when those pedals are bypassed, I turn down their output volume, usually I can quiet the elves. The CDR is currently out of my fx chain, so no 6khz nasty noise, and, it was only a problem at moderate gig volume, not really an issue for writing, practicing, jamming volume. If you find a good supply, let me know. And now, after all this, I don't know if I mentioned, the Calilne and other powersupplies in the $30--40 dollar range are not really isolated, so they're essentially a box that is just a daisy chain, or maybe a little better, but they're ultimately just a daisy chain (though I like all of the voltage options!).

Dude, I got a Dolamo delay, and it SUCKS. I mean, it is awesome that it can very easily go into self oscillation, you can make f'ing insane soundscapes. But, after each repeat there is loud, relatively high pitched noise. It makes the whole delay signal all distorted. I've found it to be unusable. I don't know if mine is broken. It was missing some screws, so I don't know if it was a dud from the factory, or it was a returned broken unit, that they just turned around and shipped me. I don't know. They contacted me and asked me if I wanted a refund to remove my negative review, pretty quickly after I posted it to Amazon. But I haven't had a chance to get back to them. I'd like to know if mine is broken, or if that is just how their delay sounds... like it is broken. "PlingShzzz PlingShzzz plingshizz plingshzzz" If I got a dud, I'd like a replacement, I could use a simple digital delay that can pretty easily go into self oscillation. Or if that is how they're built to be, I'd like my money back. But, the experience has made me very wary of Dolamo.
