Just ordered 2 x hood stays.What a great idea. I am from Australia so the postage was a little horrible , but Scotty mentioned the inventor is 18 y/o and the big bonus, the thing is Made in USA and not CCP China. I hope the 18 y/o sells a few million of them :)

Except for Honda struts..which have double lip seals....the single lip seals can be refilled with nitrogen gas...for peanuts. You just have to know the pressure to which you need to pressurise them for the lift required. The struts are placed inside a tube, the tube pressurised with nitrogen..which goes into the strut past the one-way seals...but the seal then stops the nitrogen coming back out. Depressurise the filling tube... take out the now repressurised gas strut... reinstall and the strut works for another few years until the nitrogen again has very slowly leaked out....

The red light on those headlamps is for vision purposes. Your eyes take longer to re-adjust to night time when you use a regular (non-red) bulb, whereas with a red-bulb your eyes re-adjust (after using the light) much faster, that's the primary reason some have red lights (people will use the headlights for hiking or working at night, and may want to maintain their "night" vision -- such as photographers photographing at night). You can find all sorts of brands that have those lights in a headlight form (I bought a Bushnell version for $20 at Walmart). Still have it now 3 years later and it still works great.

This is one of my personal new favorite videos. I never thought I would consider paying over $50 for a belt, but I'm seriously ready to. And I dislike most egocentric "influencers", but Scotty is a rare exception. I've also needed the pneumatic piston clamp before but had to use a stick, that product is awesome, it would have saved me $75 bucks and a couple of bruises.

Another great tool is the new trickle chargers that automatically shut off when the battery is charged. As most of us know, overcharging can damage a battery. Cheap too! A must have for riding mowers which always seem to discharge over the winter.

Just a tip at 8.42 old mechanic of mine down here in Australia always had his belt buckle at the 10 or 2 o'clock position to prevent the buckle from scratching the fenders/guards when he was leaning over working on vehicles . Cheers from Down Under

Great video, like the coolant and battery fluid tester ! About 15 years ago i had the struts go out on the rear hatch on my Volvo Wagon, i had to order a replacement set from some small business guy in Canada that must’ve cost me about $70. That little steel piece would’ve came in handy then !

You can buy a headlite for $36 and it will be just as bright. This will work and save a lot. Nitecore NU25 360 Lumen Triple Output - White, Red, High CRI - 0.99 Ounce Lightweight USB Rechargeable Headlamp with LumenTac Adapter I use this for backpacking. As for the belt. Had one forever. The ratchets will slip. But I still love the design of the belt better than traditional.

While the hood strut clamp is a great invention, you can get a lot of replacement struts for $10-20 a piece on eBay. I've replaced a few. One thing about the brake fluid test strips. It doesn't test what in the caliper. That's usually the fluid that goes bad.

Re the fluid in the caliper; I agree and I was surprised that Scotty didn't crack open the bleeder a little when pushing back the pistons...it gets rid of that hammered fluid and it makes it easier to push back the pistons...plus it doesn't force fluid back throught the ABS system....

A headlamp is a must for any break-down kit. It leaves my hands free for night time repairs, such as changing tyres or swapping out a blown headlight bulb. I've been using a couple of very similar belts for years. You're right, they do last a very long time. The only downfall is they are so tough that experience tells me they can easily wear a hole through car seat covers.

I like the first one. I don't have that problem with my car, but I work at a body shop and I constantly have to use small vise grips to hold up hoods when the hydraulics have failed. I hope it catches on

The hood latch/strut clamp is my favourite. The rear door on the Pulsar hatch has clouted me on the head more times I can remember but with the car being so old (1998) I don’t really want to shell out for new struts. I’ve got to say the other products were pretty impressive too.

@@elfpimp1 it's honestly perfect for EDC- and that's a high bar for myself. I've used 5.11 forever, their duty pants (I'm a fire-medic & work TCCC for regional SWAT/CERT/etc) and my everyday wear are 5.11 tac pants w/Kore belt. It's not TOO stiff (as most duty belts tend to be) and comparatively low profile in comparison to most carry belts- able to move/get out of vehicles, etc without feeling/looking like you've got a "Batman utility belt" propping you up. I'd (& many officers and former USCG S&R Medics from my unit) absolutely recommend for officers/any EDC civvie who carries IWB or OWB.

I still have my dwell meter. Never know when I'll need it (probably never). But I still use a timing light and vacuum gauge to help set the timing on my Jeep.

It looks like it can. Measure the clearance between the piston housing and the wall of your box. I know it works on the larger cabinet types that lift up but don't slide into their own top.

That little hoodstay is $34.95! A shop might want a couple of these but an individual no.The battery tester is a bargain at $29.85. That head light lamp better be great for $139.95. The belt is $64.95! I guess we should all be happy that Scotty found a good belt to hold his pants up?The borescope is not bad at $50.99.

Considering the hood stay is a permanent fix for a broken part, that's pretty affordable. Also, that's the price you pay when parts are made in America. As for the belt, it's a life time belt. You buy it once, and that's it. They're not made to break so you have to keep buying more and more. Also I'm assuming it's also made in America.

break fluid can't be measured when the car is cool, it should be measured after respective ride, until break fluid became about 65 degrees. those stripes don't lie, but you shoud use them right to give you the truth.

I have that belt as my regular belt. Tough as nails but very stiff. Built to last. Love the ratcheting mechanism for a perfect fit
