After sanding the cork use cork sealer (U-40) to keep it cleaner and from drying out and shrinking/splitting. The umbrella you made,you may want to add some sort of small kink/J in the end of the wire where you added the JB. That way there is no possibility of them working lose and getting pulled out.
@pulido6974 Жыл бұрын
For your bait bucket idea, I got one better. I used the tidy cat plastic bucket. After my wife's done using the litter for the cats.

I used to build some fly rods and bought some expensive cork sealer for the grips. It took years but found it’s the same as Minwax Polycrylic. Water based so there nothing to harm your rod finish. After sanding that cork, wipe with some alcohol and put a good coat on. One will usually do but put two if you want. Puts a nice finish on the cork, looks good and feels good in the hand & fish slime will wipe off. A tiny can will last through a LOT of grips.

I love your videos and have used many of your suggested hacks. Im not sure if you covered this 5 gallon bucket hack in the past. I like to use freshly caught dead bait. I use the lid of a Home Depot 5 gallon bucket for a cutting board. The best thing about this is the rim of the lid contains the blood and mess. When it gets too messy I dump the mess overboard to add to my chum slick. The lid lasts a long time and replacements are about 2 dollars.

That umbrella rig was a great idea. You would think I would’ve built one already being a welder 🤦🏼. The bucket was an awesome idea and I called it as soon as you opened it up and I seen that mesh basket, will definitely be building one.

Hey Kieth, really liked these hacks. I have used sandpaper on cork handles, but have found that the blue shop towels soaked with rubbing alcohol also works well. This also works for EVA handles and cleaning grime off of the rods. Tight lines and tell Pebbles howdy.🎣

Yo - dude, it's me again writing to you about your awesome video. It amazes me that someone as young as you could teach an old dog like me (81) new tricks - but you did on this one. Only one thing to add: The manufacturer of that little green light is Braun (brawn). That's it. LOL keep up the great work.

On the #1 Alabama Rig.. up where you put the zip tie i would bend a L in the 4 short wires before putting on the JB Weld. Just as an added insurance that they don't pull out. Great video. I certainty loved the Bait Bucket, that's a sweet setup

Those square buckets have a LOT of uses! I keep the ones my wife buys that have kitty litter in them. I store all my loose gear in one, my anchor and anchor rope, along with my trotlines. Looks like now I need to make a basket for one of them...

Love all these hacks, especially the bucket/basket hack. I use a small cooler style bait tank for shrimp when I go to the beach fishing. The lack of using a net to chase those little rascals would be awesome. I also am gonna check out that small light deal. I have a Mako LTS that it would be great to have some extra light onboard. Thanks for the great ideas.

Brother, those are some pretty good ideas In today's speakin I ain't too sure how much I wanna say, I got me a planer board that goes both ways ! It's an awesome idea, and I don't guess you'd have to publicize that your planer boards will go either way. 👍 I love the Alabama, spider rigs. I prefer to have a split ring around the legs, so I can close it up for storage. I've seen those buckets at Academy, gotta admit, it never hit me as a bait bucket. Great thinking. Keep up the great work brother. God bless ya'll and stay safe out there in all the weirdness goin on.

Love your channel. Got a hack for you. My family has cats so we need to get cat litter for them. Well I saw cat litter (Purina Tidy Cats) that came in a plastic bucket with a lid. Perfect cats get their litter box filled and I get a new bait bucket about every 6 weeks. All I have to do is put a Bubble Box on it.

Alabama Rig.. up where you put the zip tie i would bend a small U in the 4 short wires before putting on the JB Weld. Just as an added insurance that they don't pull out. I also used small piece of heat shrink to hold them together. I am a bullet guy so I used a lead bullet for weight. Great video. I certainty loved the Bait Bucket, that's a sweet setup.

Keith over the years of night fishing for crappie I have bought so many Mr; bubbles. But the best thing l ever done was to buy the 12 volt and put it on a timer switch. I've had it almost 6 years think l gave about $70.00 for the Mr bubbles and $40.00 for the switch but and done the medium cooler heck with the aquarium stone heck you did it still works for me and going on 7years think it was the best thing I ever did for batewell hacks you done. It ever has 2 bubbles outlet on it so if I needed a live well out let i could use it for that. Have had to replace the stone once but I think longgivet of the pump was installing the timer. It may not work the next time I go to use it but I would replace it with a 12volt system.

If you want really good Alabama / Umbrella rigs. Invest in a wire bending jig. I have one for making in-line spinners (like a Mepps Spinner). There are several styles & brands. They allow for professional results in bending and twisting stainless steel hard wire. Your imagination is the limit. You can trout, bass and muskie spinners, spinner baits, Alabama rigs, beatle spins, redfish spinners, etc!

You can clean your cork handles with a Magic Eraser and make them look like new without removing cork material. Then use U-40 Cork Seal to seal your cork handles and they will look good for a long time! I use U-40 Cork Seal on my new cork handle rods before I use them.

If the cork grips/handles on your fishing rods are not too dirty, you can use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or rag to clean-off the cork handles, instead. A way to clean your cork handles, without having to sand them!!!
