£2000 is the sweet spot for a bike that won't need to be upgraded for a lonnng time (until parts wear out). Outside of a customized cockpit to fit the owner (stem, bars, saddle, etc...), bikes in that range already come with very decent wheels and at least 105 and good carbon framesets. Just slap pedals on it and pack on the miles.

Generally feels faster on inclines and accelerating. Fun to ride now I’m getting more used to it. Went with rim brakes to save £300 and 0.5kg weight plus I have other rim wheels I can still swap if needed over winter etc.

I'm trying to decide between the Canyon and Giant. The new TCR may have more "aero" features but it still has an aluminum steerer and no 105 crank. It does come tubeless and of course I'll be able to try it out first. The Canyon looks better, all carbon construction and has a nicer paint job but of course I can't test it out. I'm sort of torn. They both seem like great bikes

I’ve had both a giant tcr sl and canyon ultimate i currently have the ultimate however I’d say the tcr feels more stiff and responsive and connected to the road but looks less cool. The ultimate is cooler looking and still is amazing ride but not quite as stiff as the tcr in the rear triangle. To be honest you can’t go wrong with either. They are my top 2 bikes.

£1899 for an aluminium bike with 105?
@guitaroidman5244 жыл бұрын
If you haven't ridden one, then I can guess how it seems expensive at a glance. However, it's got the same fork as the SL7 Sworks tarmac, and the seatpost is from the old S works Venge. My Dad has a City & Guilds in welding and fabrication, and when I took mine apart to put Di2 on it, he looked at the welds on the inside and said it was a tricky frame to do, but done very well (which is also why the welds are thick and look "ugly" to some, but it is needed for the strength due to the thin walled alu).
@onset58814 жыл бұрын
guitaroidman524 It’s still an aluminium bike with 105 though. Using inherited technology for other parts of the frame which you would expect on later year models anyway. What does it weigh? Should it not at least have ultergra at this price point for aluminum? OK this isn’t specizalised but it’s a carbon bike with disc brakes at the same price point: www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-aero-883-disc-shimano-105/

@@onset5881 The Sprint is meant to be a race level crit bike for people who are wary of crashing their nice carbon bikes. As an owner, I can attest that it is faaaast but no the most comfortable, but it was never meant as a sportive bike to begin with. I do believe that in a review/shootout between the allez and the TCR disc the allez was slightly lighter, I think, I'd have to watch it again. The Giant has the same group set but the non 105 cranks. My rim brake is 7.8kg with my cheap Shimano pedals with DA 9150, Hunt superdura wheels and 28c conti 5000tl's and some carbon bars.
