Wow - I've been using OneNote as far back as it has been around. I rarely pick up anything from tips videos, but I never knew about the brackets for links, and the idea to make an image the background to avoid my annotations moving around is genius.

Fantastic! I have been using OneNote for years, searched other OneNote tips and videos and I have only just learned some new great tips with this one! I had NO idea about the double bracket linking before. And making an image set to background so you can write over it and not having the markups get lost, is brilliant! Thank you so much!

Instead of full screen and pin one note window, there is a better option called "Dock to desktop". With this option, it's a lot easier to arrange other windows and there is also a shortcut for it "Ctrl + Alt + D".

Very much enjoy your information. Thank you for sharing. Suggestion, turn off the background noise, aka music. It is beyond me why KZbin content creators think it necessary playing music over their voice. Certainly during a business/client meeting when the presenter begins talking nobody would consider playing music, it would be extremely rude. Also, many folks have hearing difficulties. Video background noise (music) becomes a considerable annoyance for their understanding the speaker and their enjoyment of an otherwise excellent presentation.
@AndyPark3652 жыл бұрын
Hi Ric. Thanks for the feedback. You'll notice that most of my recent videos have no background music during the talking segments. Learning as I go. Appreciate you watching. Thank you.

@AndyPark3653 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy - I'll have to make a video about OneNote using a tablet soon... Will add to future ideas. 😀 For taking notes while watching a video, I think the best way is to just enable split screen. I know you can do this on an iPad. Not sure about other tablets...

My OneNote always makes new page even though I have a page with the name already. If I delete the new page, then the link works. I don't know how to fix this, but it happens consistently. When I check the web, I see that it's not just me, but lots of people report the same very annoying problem.

Thanks Andy. I was ignoring OneNote for several years now. But recently decided to give it a try. And these tips are really good to get to the pro level. Unfortunately, I can't find that template option on the OneNote for windows 10 version
@AndyPark3652 жыл бұрын
You are correct, there is no template option in the menu for Windows 10. This is one of the reasons I use the desktop version. However, in Windows 10, you can layout the page just how you like it, right-click on the page name in the navigation pane, and choose "save as default template". If you do this, every time you create a new page IN THIS SECTION the page will have the layout you saved. A bit of a workaround if you really need this feature.

Is there a way to colorize containers? That would be super helpful for me - like post it notes. I can't find that option anywhere.
@AndyPark3652 жыл бұрын
Hi Christen. Unfortunately, I don't know of a clean way to do this. One option is to create a two cell table and use one of them as a "container" for your notes. You can then "fill-in" the cell with color. Not the best way, but it's a workaround.

Andy, thanks for taking the time to make this video. I am wondering whether or not there is a way to identify or signal that there is a OneNote sticky note (that comes up on the OneNote feed in Outlook now) associated with a particular email. In the OneNote feed there is a mail icon, but there is no corresponding note icon or symbol in the associated email. Is there a way to show that an email has a note associated with it? Thanks for any help you can give!

EXCELLENT information - thanks. Is there a way to sort rows alphbetically in a table, or do simple math functions between cells like a spreadsheet?
@AndyPark3653 жыл бұрын
Hi Cos, thanks for your comment and the questions: 1. Did you mean sort *columns* alphabetically? If so, the answer is yes! Select the column you want to sort, go to the *Table* section in the *Ribbon* and you will see the *Sort* option in the *Data* tab. You can even select whether your table has a header. 2. It's not possible to perform cell calculations in a table (at least not without a 3rd party add-on). But you *_can_* convert the table to Excel. The option is right next to the *Sort* tab! Any edits in Excel will be updated and displayed in the embedded image in OneNote. Maybe I'll make a video about this... You can of course perform simple calculations though by typing in the the formula manually and hitting enter after the = sign. OneNote will compute and provide the answer. Hope this helps!

1:40 most irrigation and frustration mechanism from one note. Suppose there is a sequence of screen shots between paragraphs, if we forgot to set the option "set as background" for one of the screenshot, after some hours or days, it will distrub screenshots and paragraph s at below notes under the screenshot. It spoil my entire page. I did research which screen shot which I forgot the option, and reset my notes. It wasted more than 1 hour to reset it back 👎

my solution to annotation is: open an empty ppt, and dump all images in there, as well as in your one note. replace them when you have time to do annotation. usually, you ideas won't be lost if you finish it right after the meeting (like 2-hour meeting).
