I was thinking Smashing Pumpkins after he played the chorus/fuzz, and he confirmed it!

Don’t hate but the fuzz into chorus reminds me of Steph’s Deftones S/T tone. Brutal and pillowy at the same time.

I wounder if he used the internal pot controls that are inside the Swollen Pickle for that sound ?

Late here but anyone got any more recommendations for both bands with this sound, as well as pedals with this sound? Really locing the gain/fuzz into an always on sort of chorusy sound. Also have a rockerverb 100 and it seems like it would sound great w this sort of sound. And the blue sky sounds fantastic!

I thought he used a big muff into a super clean twin in smashing pumpkins. I watched a something on how they recorded it and how it was hard to get it to fit it into the mix.

‘Johnny Marr sounding shit in the 80’s’. For fuck’s sake. That sound gave birth to thousands of bands who we all love now and exposed us to his influences who we take a lead from. This band is who? How influential are they going to be? I suggest not at all based on this snippet. I also think PG needs to remind its presenters not to act like they’re coked up!
@Noisehead1012 жыл бұрын
I don’t think he meant it to be that disrespectful. It was more about recording techniques and a very distinctive sound from the 80s. I believe the Smiths were dissatisfied with the sound of the first album in particular because of the guitar sounds and drum sounds etc. Especially with the drums having that gated 80s sound on the first album. I think that’s really what he was trying to say. He wasn’t disrespecting the band themselves, more the fact some of the recordings sound very of their time and not always in a good way, But obviously they were still an incredible band

So, did this guy actually hear any music from the 1990's or did someone describe it to him? Kurt Cobain used a Boss DS-1. Billy Corgan used Big Muffs and old fuzzes. Pearl Jam used Marshalls. Peter Buck used a Rat and Russian Pi. AND OF ALL PEDALS YOU PICK A STRYMON? Strymon as a brand spits in the face of what bands in the 90's stood for.
