What I’m mainly interested in right now is helping my family to buy a home. They live in NYC and they want to buy a home there, but the homes have gotten very expensive there. That’s why I’m trying to see if there’s a way to find better deals that are less expensive, so my family will be able to continue living in the area they are most comfortable in, even after my parents retire. But I’m hesitant to act, unless I know that I’m going through the process safely.

One thing you can look out for is the owner has 3 years to buy the property back. You will get your money back and that time may vary in different states or counties, but yeah that's one thing I know about in my state.

In the early 1980's, My parents actually bought a house from a guy in California for just $1.00 fr. It was legal and everything. (before I was born) but there were problems because my brother was about 3 months old at the time got really really sick. He developed bronchitis and double pneumonia or something. And he almost died. The thing is, my mom believed that the house had something to do with my brother being sick so i don't remember if it was asbestos. Or something else? Or maybe it was a type of mold they didn't know about? This was winter sometime late Jan or early Feb 1981. But I'll have to ask her. But I think that on top of my brother nearly dying, they needed a lot of money to fix up the place which it really needed. And with my parents having 4 kids under 8 years old it would have been a big hassle. And they didn't have any money. They thought they hit the jackpot. But i guess this was one of those jackpots that people who pay for scratch offs for 30 years finally win. Idk lol so there were also problems about the previous owner. I think he owed a lot of taxes or something so it made it not worth the trouble. So unlike you get really really lucky or you have family or good friends to hook you up. If you find anything like this free or for cheap don't expect that there won't be problems haha
