Im 32 and have begun this journey again due to 151 like many others. After 7 months of learning and watching i cant deny that this hobby feels like home. Im grateful that i had a supporting mom in my early years of life that hugged my hobbies and supported my wants and needs nevertheless. I'm old school and started playing Pokemon Blue. Collected a few cards as a kid. Unfortunately sold them in a garage sale as a teenager. My oldest son just got into collecting pokemon cards and actually playing the game. It's been amazing. I love being able to ride along this journey with him and 151 is the best set. I'm Gen 1 through and through, I didn't even know they were considered "Gen", just the original pokemon. But I love the new generation pokemon as well and learning about them and playing the card game with my son and others. Thank you for all the amazing videos, I watch them every morning.

I think most of the cards in 151 are bad outside of the Zapdos and three starters. The Gengar ones are gross and the Nidoking one is basic. My guess is the team rocket set next year will incorporate much better artwork as they did in the past. Bring back the ‘dark’ Pokémon!

Gen 1 has always be my favorite and I've only started collecting 2 years ago. I've never realized how grateful I am to have experience pokemon growing up and now as an adult, collecting and getting back into this has been such a nostalgic trip. It's healing, it's relaxing, it's having that childlike joy again and I get to share that with a very close friend of mind who also got into it. My favorite generation is the 1st generation because that was the generation of pokemon I was first introduced to! This is one reason I am so excited to be able to collect 151! Solid video, another thing about vintage packs and cards in general is they have already gone through massive growth cycles. So further growth is going to be pretty stagnant, compared to modern where after the initial release, cards almost always creep up slowly over time. Much easier for a $20 card to go to $50 than a vintage $200 card to go to $500.

It’s fun thinking about what vintage will be like in 20 years, and does vintage become “ancient” and no one cares about it anymore? just found your channel recently and i've agreed with 99% of everything you've been uploading. I too was born in the hobby at an early age, ditched cards for Call of Duty and Halo. then when the pandemic happened and pokemon boomed, i rejoined in 2020 and have been investing and learning from my mistakes ever since. The way you articulate your message and the why behind it is why i subscribed, a lot of people still cant grasp the idea of pokemon investing for long term and that's ok. every time i see people box breaking online, it warms my heart another booster box is out of the cycle. anyways, my favorite gen would be 2nd gen followed by 1st gen. I played 2nd gen a lot more when i started to grasp the game concept better, as a kid i didnt even know how to save my game in the Yellow pikachu gameboy game, i had left the game on all night so i can ask my friend the next day how to save my progress LMAO. Good times.. keep it up Phillip, your channel is definitely a hidden gem for people serious about investing in pokemon. when crashes happen, i buy. when prices sky rocket, i smile and go about my day. goal is to continue investing as i get older and sell when i believe it's the right time. I grew up with Gen 1 but I got to say I love this era in Pokemon so Gen 9 might be my favorite now. The games are fun, the card artworks are incredible and as a collector I can order a professionally graded mint card at raw price and then don't have to worry about it getting dinged in the mail. I'm grateful for this era because it is so much fun!

Great video! Only point I disagree with is "missing the boat". Even on well performing booster boxes like evolving you can still buy under market and realize larger gains than a cheap S&V set. To he clear, I invest in both. But in this example, 1 booster box of evolving bought at $850 will probably be around $1500 at the end of 2025. S&V base will probably grow from $120 to $160 by end of 2025. ES is a $650 gain and 7 boxes of S&V base is $1020 for a gain of $180. Not close because you bought the better performing product and you bought under market.

Im 33 and played the game through red blue yellow silver and gold, so i have to go with the vintage sets. My favourite is actually gen 2, as Gold/Silver felt like a super-complete-ultra-premium version of R/G/B/Y. At the time it was such a big deal, and I don't think the other generations quite match it (although there are some excellent ones). When buying sealed products that I plan on keeping for the long haul, I only buy them under retail price that way the risk is almost 0. My most recent purchase was a case of Paldea evolved booster boxes which I picked up for $900 aud. Market Value is normally $1080 aud, I just picked it up during the eofy sale. Worst case scenario I sell it for retail price & I don’t lose anything as long as the demand for Pokémon is still there

my fav is gen three. I love the starters and I love the legendaries so much. It probably because that was the first game i played. Im gratefull for my friends and family:) They offer me so much support and love and im gratefull to have met and been with the people around me.

Generation 1. I remember seeing kids in school with their card binders and I had to join the hype and so glad I did. I’ve been a Pokemon fan ever since. I’m grateful for my girlfriend and her love and support she’s always given me!

Gen 1 is my favorite. It's hard to beat the nostalgia of the first for a 90s kid. I am grateful for my family. Even as adults, we're very close.

Gen 5 is my favorite generation for sure. I start in the Pokemon hobby in 2010s and have the best memories for this era. Still remember reading the little "book" that comes in the DS Games. So nostalgic to me ❤
