I use SIS Recovery and I drink it with some fruit (melon or berries) after a workout.

What is the rule of the thumb for how much protein and carbs I should eat after a ride based on intensity/TSS and time? What I eat after a 4 hour with 1h total work at Z3/Z4 (~200-300tss) should be different from a 2h ride with 20min of total work at Z5/Vo2max (~130 tss)?

Thank you! Found this video to be incredibly informative. Like that you went through the ingredients. The thing that stumps me is the taste. I bought a tub of Huel and it taste like garbage (not that I know what garbage taste like 👀🤣) so it’s put me off buying powder as most of them don’t have sachets to try it out.

Have you ever tested/reviewed Skratch Labs Recovery?

Hey Jesse, thoughts on the wiggle recovery drink? Looks great price with a decent amount of carbs.

Would you use a recovery powder that is 1 year past its best before date? I just found some of the MyProtein Extreme Gainer Blend in my house

The expired protein in it would make me nervous, I wouldn't risk it

@@nerocoaching Thanks for the reply, yeah it's not worth the chance. One question I've been meaning to ask you is why do sports nutrition companies say you should take carbs such as gels before and during a workout but not after?

I’ve revisited this video and notice prices have increase considerably, any recommendations on the best value?

Cheapest would be to make your own with non-fat milk and some sort of chocolate or other flavoured drink powder, like Nesquick

What about going diy? There are elektrolyte and vitamin supplements and then just add sugar and protein powder. Alright, maybe 4 components is a bit much, but I always feel like these recovery shakes charge you for the mixing and the sugar. Individually these are way cheaper.

No cost metric?

Was focusing more on the nutritional side of things, but certainly cost, taste and local availability are all important as well!

Why have you done it per 100 gramme and not per serving?
@nerocoaching3 жыл бұрын
Mostly because 100g is roughly the serving size I would use to hit my carb & protein requirements, regardless of the product. It's also easier to compare the products looking at the same amount. I've found serving size in a recovery drink is largely irrelevant, a 50kg female or 90kg male aren't going to be having the same serving

Just eat Whole Foods?
@nerocoaching3 жыл бұрын
I find it too difficult to get enough calories, carbs and range of nutrients only eating whole foods. Plus the extra time it takes to prep the food which I'm too busy to do

The V/M blend is negligible. If you want vitams and minerals, eat some fruit and veg.
