Scott, I think you miss understood what I was trying to say. I was just saying if they wanted some more information about the product and that it has been around for awhile. If you had marked the pipe that goes into the bracket where your screws touched the tube and then dimpled the shaft so the screws slightly went into the pipe the shaft would not move or be able to work loose.

Just for your knowledge, #7 or .201 dia. Drill for 1/4 -20 tap , nice welding😎

Am I correct in saying you removed the HF aerial on the starboard side of the mast as it was protruding higher than the lightning protector. The aerial was missing in the last shots of the video. Was it repositioned lower?

No, it was being covered in heat shrink (mfg recommended) and then reinstalled

Nope. It just prevents the lightning channel from building. It cannot dissipate large amounts of energy.

Nope, still vulnerable to EMP or side strikes. I don’t know of anything that can protect a boat from that

Go back and watch their original video on this where they outline the functional capabilities… don’t think anyone claims total protection in all situations with this equipment …

@@peggykm4977 There is no technology available that prevents lighting strikes to boats as the title of this video suggests. There is no way to make your boat invisible to lightning as some companies suggest. Emp Solutions only claims to suppress the discharge after you get hit by lightning. At best, minimizing the damage after lighting strikes to your boat.

@Cubamara that is not at all what the device does or they claim. There has not been one reported strike on a protected structure or boat in the history of the product, ever.

@@SailingDauntless That's not true , the FAA tested these emp devices at active airports and actually documented an increase in lighting strikes to airport structures, they obviously stopped using them.

I went back and looked at the Lightning Prevention video and at 6:02 is where Ty states side strikes may be possible in crowded marina conditions…. That is what I was remembering. Considering what electronics you have to protect (and cost ti repair/replace) , this seems like a very good idea.
