Focus is perhaps the most underrated aspect of practice. When I have a clear mind and am able to focus 100% on my picking and fretting movements, I always play my best. Whenever that focus gets interrupted, even for a split second, mistakes start to happen. Gotta get into that "zone."

Even as an advanced guitar player, I still feel unsatisfied by my achievements. This video will definitely help that 😁 Thank you buddy!

You're sooooo right about watching your picking hand. I've noticed in my own practice that I severely neglect doing work on my pick hand while watching it. I do it all the time for my fretting hand. Need to improve that.

Off topic.. I have watched many videos from you and your an excellent teacher great content, thank you. Just a curiosity question, you don’t seem to have a guitar buying addiction you use the same guitar in every video for years. Do you own other guitars? Every KZbin teacher I see has 15 guitars hanging behind them. I can’t seem to control myself from buying guitars 😁

@@Raghav_Sachdeva don't be a smart ass. The question is legitimate. Why don't you explain whatever you're trying to be a snob about instead of being a tool.

You forgot 1 critical item on the list. Knowing wtf you're trying to play. Because if you are not familiar with the language and how it works, You've got nothing.

Meh if speed is your goal take up drag racing or the 100 yard dash. Music is an artistic endeavor not an athletic one.

yeah speed shouldnt be a goal. Speed comes as a natural byproduct of effective practice and technique. so you shoud focus on that, not on "playing fast"

Tell that to paganinni!!! His music had extraordinary melodic sense and great deal of spaces where it all happened at light speed but clearly and beautifully, if u can't hear that, then don't pretend it's sports where it's simply just music you cant grasp by ear, let alone enjoy it. I love slow pickers too, but c'mon, fast pickers are great musicians, creative ppl indeed, and many of them are quite singular, wich is a rare feat at that department. When ppl are gonna get tired of belittlying another persons talent? Fuck that shit!

@J A I agree lightning fast shredding is fun and can fit a song well given the context. I worded it poorly but I was just saying that if your goal is to be able to play fast then you should focus on the underlying skills and techniques it requires to be able to do that. I’m not saying you shouldn’t think about speed or disregard it.
