I just had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. Had surgery 7 days ago. 4 pregnancies in total. Two babies. I’ve really worked hard on my PF in the last year and it really does make a difference. I’m not sure about a third baby. I’m still grieving. But my pelvic floor is a solid reason not to. My mum collapsed down there after her third live birth. I don’t want that. Not enough is shared about this issue. Being a woman is so so so hard. Love your channel Anna x

Yes! I'm so happy pelvic floor talks are more common. I would NEVER have known about its importance before. What you said about not being able to see the benefits is so true. Sometimes it's hard to find the motivation to do the exercises if you feel like nothing is happening.

Same with me, I got pregnant with my second baby when my daughter was 11months, my daughter and son are 22 months apart, they are now 5 and 3 but it's taken a huge toll on my body, for me I still feel so weak all the time I don't know if it's because I was young when I had them plus having them both back to back, my first birth was really hard so I don't think my body was properly recovered. It's such a wonderful experience though! For me personally now I have one of each though I don't think I will be having any more as I feel like my body could handle any more pregnancies as its taken such a toll. I had an unplanned pregnancy which turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy back in September 2019,i still cry about it but everything happens for a reason x

Yess! I'm SO happy you're talking about this. I tried to message you about pelvic floor physio when you mentioned leaking years ago even though I figured you'd never read it so I'm really glad someone in your "real life" was able to actually tell you about it haha and you got the help you needed :) A lot of people have trouble with relaxing their pelvic floor so it's too tight to stop leaks properly and squeezing and squeezing and squeezing can just make things "worse"(/tighter) for them. The best bet for anyone experiencing issues is definitely to see a pelvic floor physical therapist if that's accessible to them :)

Thank you for doing this Anna, so many women suffer needlessly with a weak pelvic floor! I am needing a bit of a revamp due to the effects of peri menopause so this is helpful for me as well! If you haven't already done it, I think it would cool if you did a video similar to this one but sharing the differing experiences of postpartum mental health with each of your pregnancies. I know first hand how different it is from pregnancy to pregnancy (especially with the differences between postpartum with baby and postpartum with loss). I think it would be helpful to so many people. Much love! 💗

Thank you for talking about this!! After the birth of my first son I suffered from a bladder prolapse - never knew that could happen. No one talks about the importance of strengthening your pelvic floor! Just had my second son 8 weeks ago and just about to start working with my physiotherapist again! Every woman should see a physio if they can! It makes such a difference and can prevent further damage
@tijay85074 жыл бұрын
Having a prolapse after birth has no bearing on the strength of your pelvic floor! it is caused by traumatic births for example prolonged pushing, foceps and suction births ,also ones resulting in a lot of stitches .. i had all of those things in my first delivery so i was badly damaged and it led to a prolapse .. i have always had incredibly strong PF muscles and still have now even after a huge amount of gyne surgery so they are not linked ....
@laurenmani34914 жыл бұрын
@@tijay8507 repairing the pelvic floor through a series of kegels and core strengthening exercises is how I helped my prolapse get better.. not sure what you mean? Also, I pushed for 3 minutes total and had an amazing birth, so that’s not always true. Some women have pelvic floor issues simply because of the excess weight on their bladders due to pregnancy. Sorry you had such a rough go.

Hi anna Thankyou for posting about this. I am a mum of 3 girls (aged 25, 23 and 11). I didn’t experience bladder leakness until before my 3rd. During pregnancy I had morning sickness and one day I gagged so hard I heard a crack and I full on wet myself. Several years later I went to get help and I was scanned and my bladder was checked. I was asked to pee into a bottle and bring it back into the room. She then re scanned my bladder and it was 95% full. I still suffer from this day. Mine is worse then my 74 yr old mums xx

Thank you so much for sharing! It really isn't something that is addressed enough- and you explained all the difficulties with doing kegels perfectly! I've had two pregnancies in two years and tried to do kegels throughout, especially after a 3rd degree tear during 1st birth- but really felt frustrated that they seemed ineffective because I couldn't feel or see if I was doing them properly. Postpartum bladder and bowel incontinence can cause so much extra anxiety for new mums- I really wish there was even more emphasis during postpartum care on how to regain pelvic strength following birth! Thank you for raising awareness and sharing useful resources!

Thank you for sharing your story. I’ve had two baby’s and it was during the second when I started having problems with leaks and frequency but didn’t bring it up to my obgyn until this past month, my youngest is 4!!! I just thought leakage was a part of what happens after having multiple kids. I’m in the US and my obgyn just pointed me in the direction of a urogynecologist to see if I either need physical therapy for my pelvic floor or some further intervention. I’m excited to check out these videos and try to get my pelvic floor back a more natural way.
