In the same vein as an inventory control system, I'm planning on building a CRM project (Similar with Sales Force or SAP) with frontend and backend with features to chat with customers, track sales and purchases, etc.

That sounds great.Look at some of the smaller vendors for features like a capsule.

Great content. Is there a portfolio site we can look at which demos these ideas? I don't need to see the source code but seeing a working demo would help me get started on building my own version.
Thank you for these great starting points! I'd watched the bug tracker video already and happy to have these other ideas to work with as well!

In the "1 project job guarantee" video, you said we should use .Net ASP plateform where as i am experienced in Node/Express + SQL/MongoDB. Is that going to be a problem while seeking jobs in enterprise companies? or switching to .Net is THAT worth it? Great content btw 👍
@CoderFoundry4 жыл бұрын
Zulfiqar, if you're already experienced in Node try and roll with that. You just need to research what companies in your area are hiring for. If that’s Node then you’re good to go, but it could be something else (.NET, Java,....).
@HashimWarren4 жыл бұрын
It depends on your city. If you're in San Francisco, New York, or London then any language or stack will get you a job quickly. However, .NET is popular with the enterprise everywhere, from Tel Aviv to Toledo

Hello Bobby (hope you see this), I'm planning to make my first ever project for my portfolio. I know that you recommend making a bug tracker, however I'm having difficulty with this because I've never really used one, so I don't have much knowledge of one in order to make my own, and I don't really know where to look in order to find what it should include (if you have good sources please show me). However, every developer uses stackoverflow, so I am considering making my own stackoverflow clone. Is this as good as a bug tracker? As you say, employers need to see projects that can have a reference point to something they use, and stackoverflow is something that developers use, so it could be compared to that.
@RickyC06263 жыл бұрын
That's also similar to an idea I had: creating a personalized stackoverflow where you ask yourself questions and find your own answers. This way your personal Q&A will be the first line of defense if you ever have a question, before searching on Google. It extends on the concept of building a second brain and personal knowledge management systems. Some tools that are already in use for this kind of system are Obsidian, Roam, Notion, Foam, but many users suffer from choice paralysis, as these tools are extremely flexible and users may not know how to create a note-taking system that works for them. I think it's a completely valid project as it solves a specific problem (asking questions and doing research) that complements well with issue trackers. It can even be extended for use in other subjects!

Hello CF. Love your videos. I made a bug tracker with all the features you talked about but I made it in WinForms since I just started teaching myself C# and that's what I started with. Do you think this will be good enough on a resume?

If you are looking for winforms jobs that's great. Make a screen shots and show it on your portfolio. Then apply for webform jobs.

Looking for a team project: Any programmers out there who wanna add a mobile app/game on their portfolio? Build the necessary skills needed for any software job such as communication; agile, kanban, and project management skills. Truthfully, a programmer who can't work in a team based/agile environment is useless to employers, so if you're interested, you'd learn a lot working with me! :o

You only need one project, just build a compiler + debugger. You are guaranteed to land a job in a big tech.
@CoderFoundry4 жыл бұрын
I guess?? But the world is larger than big tech. Plus, companies are building biz apps. So we reccomend building biz apps.
@uonliaquat79574 жыл бұрын
Coder Foundry but don’t you think building projects using framework won’t make you sustain in a big market for too long, we actually have to pull out ourselves from this, I think we must build something from scratch and learn actual computer scinece and that what makes you a true computer scientist, Well I also appreciate your video and your thought process.
@pkrockin39234 жыл бұрын
@@uonliaquat7957 Im trying to build a complete fullstack web application from scratch (no frameworks/libraries, just standard libs + interfaces) for portfolio purposes. Which do you think would impress employers more, a project built from scratch or a project built with a framework?
@uonliaquat79574 жыл бұрын
PK Rockin well a project built from scratch will open gates for you in a world of true enginers and designers of softwares and beside that it’ll make you feel more comfortable when using framework for another project in future, building something using framework without knowing whats happening behind the scenes can somehow help you crack job interview but when you are in industry you will be lost then, like as probably you would be well aware of this that we don’t have a lot of people who can surely say that they can write a driver for OS or can build a full fledged compiler no not at all, don’t you think we should be more focused on the studies made by Alan Turing, Donald Knuth like people? sorry to say brother using a frameworks feels like we are slave to computer not a master of it, having said that once you are comfortable with the in and outs then you must go and use framework thats what my thoughts are.
@connorskudlarek85982 жыл бұрын
@@uonliaquat7957 frameworks are fine, they're not going anywhere. After you get into the position, it's a good idea to learn more CS. Learning CS beforehand is ok too, but it'll take much, much longer before one can enter the tech world. There is a reason CS degrees take 2 years after your basic education requirements are filled. It's harder, there is a lot more to learn, and much more complicated to learn by yourself.
