I think the model being used right now is bad, let's take a typical place, there are 300 houses there for example, Matthew has the skill of cutting hair in order for Matthew to do an activity of cutting hair, Matthew needs a store, plus the papers, this is expensive and complicated then, Matthew needs the papers proving he has skill of cutting hair, there are other papers... this is a nightmare in the end, in this place, only 1 store opened do you see the problem ? There are 300 houses and there is 1 store, meaning 1 person doing an activity this is why the model is wrong, Now, let's look at this model : Matthew doesn't need anything to do his activity of cutting hair, he only has to print a poster in which he puts a picture of himself, his phone number, he writes on it that he can cut hair, then Matthew simply sticks the poster on the wall of his house/we can also think of a mobile app, where Matthew sticks the poster on the map Now, these 300 houses are going to stick posters on their houses/on the app All people living there are now doing activities You will have people teaching, cutting hair, selling things, coaching, doing repair... there will be all types of activities do you see ? it's way better now the current model is wrong, in order for you to do an activity, you have to go through months or years of suffering. because of this, you won't do the activity with the new model, in order for you to do an activity, you go through 1 minute of ease (making the poster). because of this, you will do the activity

Here is one idea: An app that lets people look for products within their vicinity from multiple vendors/stores/etc. It can be anything from a tool, to a cupcake. The app would be free, but the stores would be able to integrate with the backed to "market" their store above others by offering the lowest price, possibly making it worth the customer's time and fuel to go get it. Stores would pay a fee to market to those looking, with a base fee plus per query by the people using the app. The consumers would benefit by seeing what availability and pricing are for items. Marketing data and analytics could be a very profitable portion of the business, so much so that stores could be offered the service via partnership strategies.

@@ibro_47 the idea was different, in myspace you could connect to anyone, in facebook only with people you already knew. At the beginning you even had to register with a university valid email address. It's like comparing skype and snapchat based on the fact that you can text each other. But I agree that there's place for clones and the best one is often not the most popular. Marketing wins over quality. So if you have an idea or you want to copycat an idea just hire a good marketing specialist and go cheap with development. When you start getting money then you can refactor your code.

Oh man! I think most of us know that feeling, that brick wall you can't breakthrough. Whether it's literally just CSS, or even HTML!. But if you can just trust that, if you keep working on it, you can break through that wall! It eventually clicks, and things start going, then you figure out HTML/CSS, then go on to Javascript, bang your head against the brick wall for however long it takes, but you'll break though, and you'll know it all, until you learn about react and redux, and node, firebase, github, etc. And it's a goddamn big ass, solid mother effing series of brick walls. But!... You know what to do... just start banging your head on them, on at a time. Hmmm. What I think I'm trying to say is, "Learning web development is basically like playing Dark Souls"

Most of the ideas here are fun, “Anonymously send text messages to people near you” seems pretty terrible. My first thought was about how horribly that would be abused in about ten seconds, and how few if any women would even consider it because of how horribly it would be abused. It’s like how occasionally you see people trying to sell “send messages to people near to you in traffic,” and while the goal there would be to ameliorate upset in traffic, would have the exact opposite effect in all circumstances. It’s an interesting idea from a technical perspective, and you could imagine it if it could be limited to some sort of community assist call for help thing (possibly), but real-world applications seem tricky.
@jyothish51943 жыл бұрын
You can only send messages to people using that app - plus you'll get a temporary number for the conversation. Only people interested have to sign up, so I think it is fun. Just like Omegle.

Bit of advice if you have ADHD and/or you're impulsive like me: If you do find an idea that you get excited about, try not to let yourself get too excited because it will make you rash, make you impulsive with decision making and overall will get you carried away and mislead with the idea. I like to sit on it for a least a week just to give time to think about the reality of the idea so I ultimately don't end up clutching at straws. The only positive is you still get the experience of the attempt. Otherwise you're just wasting your time. Does anyone relate to this?
@ra61603 жыл бұрын
Good ideas have certain moments and time that if you missed it then it will go and you'll probably not excited as the first time you get those idea. Same as musician when they got new song idea, they record it. If not then it would vanished

I feel like I have to mention - always consider how your idea could be abused and safeguard against that. Most of these are innocent enough, but the nearby chat one stands out to me. How should I deal with subscription pricing of a niche app idea? Do I charge the user more because it is unique and no other competitive apps offer such flexibility OR do I charge less because there's going to be less demand because it's an app that targets a specific niche? So far, I went with 5$ USD per month, , but I'm thinking of charging more. To justify the cost, the user creates his files backup on my server=server cost, can use additional premium design tools and no ads.

I personally disagree with the statement that ideas are cheap. Ideas are the foundation of your execution. You can't execute something without an idea. And the way in which you envision an execution is also an idea (which then get tested and, where necessary, modified during the actual implementation). The two concepts are very intertwined. It is true that an idea (even if it is a good one) has little substance when there is no execution but by the same token execution can't exist without an idea. Unique ideas that stand out are however rare (in the same way that an execution that stands out is rare). Perhaps that is what you mean with the phrase "ideas are cheap" but I find phrasing it this way is unfair as this devalues the concept of an idea to something trivial when it anything but as ideas form the basis of any execution. "Practical" people in my experience often peddle this notion in order to elevate themselves unjustly over "idea" people (like writers, academics, designers etc...). Not that I'm saying you are one of those people, I'm just giving a general example. While it is clear to me that ideas and execution are a tandem. One can't function without the other, as is the case with many perceived (but nonetheless false) dichotomies.
@mojajojajo4 жыл бұрын
scifiroel ideas are worth nothing without execution, also whenever you think you have a novel idea. They’re a thousand other people with that same idea, only thing that differentiates you is execution
@Fireship4 жыл бұрын
I was actually quoting Chris Sacca there as an exaggeration. I agree that great ideas definitely have value. I like the explanation that an "idea" is a "multiplier" of execution sivers.org/multiply
@scifiroel4 жыл бұрын
@@mojajojajo I could make the reverse claim as well, namely that execution is worth nothing without an idea (it is "directionless" without one). To drive this point further home, execution doesn't even exist without an idea (and I did say that ideas on their own have little substance without execution as well but it goes both ways which was the whole point of my post). But ideas do move people to action. As stated, great and unique ideas are rare but when they do surface they can move mountains. The enlightenment (which lead to both the American and French revolutions) or even Marxism (with which I personally mostly disagree with even though I have an academic interest in it) which lead to the Russian revolution are two prime examples.
@scifiroel4 жыл бұрын
@@Fireship I mostly agree with that Especially the NDA part that is mentioned on the webpage you referenced. Although the final paragraph that reads "To me, ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions." in my opinion also suffers from the same simplification issue...
