Glad you've been able find your groove, but I'd caution people against going into Expediting without studying and knowing their numbers inside out, and having a financial cushion. It's a difficult, grubby, uncertain industry. Only do it if you don't have any other option. The Pros I see are traveling and seeing new places all the time, and 100% being your own boss and choosing when to work. It's annoying to have some Carriers asking for location updates too much. My overall sense is the Co s outweigh the Pros but if there's no other option for making bank, then do it. Felonies and criminal records or lack of work history don't matter in the industry, unless the pick-up is on a military base or similar facility. The biggest Cons to me were the ENORMOUS cost of the $1million)$100k required commercial insurance. Between that and a van payment, monthly fixed costs are usually in the $2k range right out the gate. Ouch. And I found that after gas, eating on the road, tolls, frequent oil changes and so forth that my weekly Net to pocket was only between around $500 and $800 on driving about 2,500 to 3,000 miles per week - which is a nasty grind. I decided to leave the industry in December. Just not worth it. And, if course, people are not aware of the issue every night of having to find a place to park your van and go to sleep. I usually parked at a Walmart, but in some States they stopped letter you park overnight. Casinos allow overnight parking and so does Cracker Barrell. I know of one guy who said had success parking in hospital parking lots overnight, but I never tried that. One night I parked on Pensacola beach and a cop knocked on the van in the middle of the night and made me leave. Planet Fitness parking lots are sometimes ok, but I'm some areas they're not open all night. Parking at them was nice because I had a national membership and used it for showering. I don't susoect people realize Expediters sleep in their vans. It's not possible to get a hotel every night because if delivery deadlines, and it is not possible to regularly stay at hotels and be profitable. There's simply not enough margin in Expediting to support regular hotel stats. The other reason i gave it up was the depressed load rates and the decreased amount of loads. I hated sitting overnight empty, or having to deadhead long distances to get into a better load area. Really sucked. Expediting is worth it only if: you absolutely love traveling and seeing new things, or are insistent on being your own boss and working only when you want to, or have no other option. I dropped my commercial insurance and have my van parked in my driveway but follow the industry just in case economic conditions get better, but am no longer interested in OTR but might do Regional (around 300) miles. But the problem of the astronomical insurance rates discourages any of this, and my driving record is perfect and I am in my 60's, yet I was paying $1,166 per month for Progressive. Ouch. Good luck and happy and safe travels to you and your misses my man. It sounds like despite all the negatives in the industry, that you found your groove. Good luck!

@@85imports54 The Gross is not what counts. It's the Net profit that matters. The Fixed and Variable costs in this business are uncertain and exorbitant. It's a garbage business.

Hi. I’m a 22+ year veteran in trucking, looking into Bolt currently. Are you still with Bolt? I’m looking at different fleet owners there currently.

When you lease on, do you still have to find your own loads?

Hey are y'all still with Bolt Express? I want to lease on with someone but start with a rental at first, or do they have fleet owners I could drive for? I don't want to team drive tho, solo?
