I’m in my fourth course rn as well! I’m really enjoying the film/equipment discussions

Just make sure you use it when you actually get the equipment. I feel like most of my classmates only break out their camera and equipment for assignments only.

The tech pack you get is pretty good. You can easily start making money with the equipment. The school is really flexible. They will work with you if you have a different type of schedule or need extra time to get an assignment. Just make sure to communicate with the instructors and have good reasons for the extension. Good luck with your search. Let me know if you have any questions.

@@cinemanbeard9540 I start class on August 3rd. Very excited. They even said if something would come up and you have to take a break from class, then they would let you pick up where you left off. I already possess film skills, but been having trouble finding people committed to having paid film work done in my area. Nonetheless looking forward to getting the bmpcc4k later down the line. How soon do you get the laptop? I forget if you mentioned that!

@@davidc5885 I took 3 classes then took a 1 year break because the classes were not relevant to filmmaking. Like History of Film which was a total waste of time. I checked back after about a year and they changed the program classes to the current curriculum. So far the classes have been pretty good. The first classes are really basic but I've learned something from all of them. I said all that to say, I got my macbook within the first 2-3 months but I'm not sure if it's still the same. I know the people in my classes got an ipad before they got the macbook. I never got the ipad. The macbook you get is completely maxed out specs wise. I think I priced mine at over $3000.

@@cinemanbeard9540 yea I looked at all the classes, and they aren't challenging at all. Tbh you can learn everything yourself on your own for the most part. For me, I can't see myself doing something not creative, or going to school for something like computers although it pays well etc. I plan on traveling (backpacking style) and using the bah to help pay. I'm basing my travels in southeast asia, because how cheap it is, but waiting for things to ease up a little bit.

Start a KZbin and document your travels. It's great practice plus it may make you some money in the future.

Super helpful video. I’m currently active duty Army, serving overseas in Europe. I’m trying to re-class to the public affairs MOS right now but use my TA to get a degree in relation to cinematography, video production, or filming documentaries. You know the military schedule is busy af, so how fast paced are these courses? Will I be able to complete them at my own pace?

on the journey , do they teach a deep cinematography learning ? and the motion pictures , blockings ? and i can control my schedulre anytime on the day ?
@cinemanbeard95402 жыл бұрын
There are some live lectures where you can ask questions in real time, but they're recorded and can watch them whenever. There are deadlines through out the week, but you will have full control when to get your work completed. I don't know what you mean by deep cinematography. They get into the theory, movements, framing, focus, and a lot more into the how and why a person will use a certain technique. There are a few classes that focus on the history of the movie industry, working in today's industry, and touch on all the jobs within a movie production.

I'm starting the online film program March 1st what was your favorite class so far
@cinemanbeard95403 жыл бұрын
I've liked all the classes for the most part equally. I don't love writing, so screenwriting has probably been my least favorite. Any class taught by TL Westgate have been great. I had him for color correction and now special effects. He takes the to give you solid feedback. Shows you how to make your stuff better. Like makes a response video and shows you step by step how to adjust your work to make it better.

What are you filming for classes? My fear is, I live in a rural area and have no one around to put on film or to act a scene. It's pretty much just me wanting to do cinematography.
@cinemanbeard95404 жыл бұрын
The only filming I've had to do so far was while I was on a work trip. I had to ask my coworkers to be in the shot. They were really simple shots. There was no acting involved. The thing with filmmaking is you have to resourceful. You may have to coordinate a day to meet up with some willing actors (aka family and friends). I plan on using family until I get to more advanced classes. Then there are a couple of performing arts schools that I will up to see if there are any volunteers to be in a short film. A character can be anything: animals, action figures, lego people. The main point of cinematography is telling a story. There are multiple ways to do it.

if you take online do you have to have a schedule and attend zoom calls or can you just log in whenever and do your work?
@cinemanbeard95403 жыл бұрын
There are some Zoom calls but they're recorded and you can watch them whenever. Otherwise you do your work whenever you want as long as the assignments are turned in before the due date/time. The instructors are pretty good working with you if you have something coming up and may need an extension on your due date.

are the courses taken one at a time? and is the work/assingments overwhelming?
@cinemanbeard95403 жыл бұрын
You take one course at a time. Each course is 4 weeks long. The assignments aren't overwhelming for me. I can normally get a week's worth of assignments completed in 4-6 hours. Some classes take more time because it takes more planning or is just more tedious like special effects. Usually each week builds on the class work you completed the prior week. If you're really serious about working in the film industry, then you should be working on personal projects in conjunction with the course work in my opinion.
