Don’t know how I got here, but solid video! I’m always very interested in the setting, to make a character that fits the world. Main reason I got into 5e was the continuous collaborative story aspect. (Tried Adventurer’s League. Was very disappointed.) So helps with emerson and giving the DM something to work with. Not really a fan of therapy tools or overly structured safety rules. Maybe if it’s a more public format. (The kind I have no interest in since it doesn’t have the familiarity to really work together on story.) Good to be considerate of other players, but making a big deal about it wouldn’t sit right with any groups I’ve been in or the players that actually did have something come up. Just make sure if you’re the DM to give a general idea of maturity rating and make sure everyone is warned in advance if your setting is particularly freaky.

I think there are better systems out there for collaborative stories, but sadly I'm stuck with the same because most people know enough about d&d to be able to quickly pick it up lol Most of my DMs and me have usually just directly communicated what is fine and what isn't - i.e. Someone doesn't like graphic torture descriptions and thats really all people need to work with

@ Agree on there being better systems. But, already enough hassle just working around schedules to ask people to learn stuff. Plus, D&D is pretty flexible to various settings and adding/modifying systems, long as DM has a good grasp on balance. Personally, between current DM’s apocalyptic setting and homebrew source I’m using for classes, I’m very happy with things.

I dont think restricting pvp is a good thing, as it takes away freedom from the players, and can also take away interesting narrative frictions. Also I really dislike people who say "im too senseitive to this/that, so lets not do it"... This can result in creative restrictions not only for the DM, but also for the other players. For example if someone is not comfortable with sexually tense scenes, but a player rolls a character thats main way of collecting information is to seduce people, one of the player has to make a compromise. Same goes for being a racist ingame, there is no logical reason to be "uncomfortable" if someone's character doesnt like a certain group of people in a fictional setting... For me everything goes, if that is not the type of game someone wants to play, they should find another table.
