I think the emphasis on seeking out a “producer” to make your music for you is disempowering. I find it so strange that a “producer” tends to make the music and then an “artist” simply sings a melodic/lyrical idea over it. The way I see it, an artist makes their art from the raw materials at their disposal... they don’t hire another artist to make it for them. Simple as that...
