@icebough41914 жыл бұрын
Pain Uchiha There’s really no sure fire formula unfortunately This is all still great advice, but I think you have to start relationally Make contacts, have real relationships with KRY people that help you, and who you help in return It’s all about who you know, because you’re all on the journey together Many famous musicians were friends that knew each other before the made it Like temple of the dog had Eddie bedder and Chris Cornell Or Coldplay and keane were all buds who had auditioned for each other’s bands long before any record deals were signed Maynard James Keenan was buds with Rage against the machine before they ever broke out onto the scene The point is, are you connected with or are you creating your own musics community and movement?

As someone who's just getting started trying to release my music for others, this has been incredibly valuable. Hi, label A&R here (USA). These tips are definitely practical, I'm just not sold on how actionable they are for a developing artist. In other words - these work great, and are actually the standard 10 bases to cover for a standard release, that is, if you already have somewhat of a significant fanbase / signed to a label. I think a handsome majority of people here are looking for tips to cultivate and develop that fanbase so that they *can* reach that point of good, consistent, release momentum and trajectory thru these strategies. Nonetheless I love what you guys are doing. Cheers!
@mcresolutionftw7094 жыл бұрын
What would you suggest to build a fan base?
@fidgetykoala3 жыл бұрын
@@mcresolutionftw709 just do exactly what she said but be mindful with what media you are reaching out if you are purely up and coming reach out to peers, i.e. emerging PR people, online radio, playlist curators. A loyal fan-base is built-up on consistency and, nowadays, on the basis she just mentioned. Make a sketch of the forecasted target-audience as well, so you can reach out media for your promotion which caters to your potential fan-base. Don't turn up any chance of exposition as they might happen to be detrimental in further your career. What she said is the core of a development career artist in terms of promotion, and any product promotion is carried out, more or less, in this way. Accept the fact that your music is an asset with an attached exploitable IP.

I somehow fought hard enough to get those out and still release the 200 I managed to mix of 800+ still in store. I watch quite a few of these videos recently and I find it quite interesting that so much attention is put into these steps. However, I never see anyone talking about the most important step before ever considering releasing anything and that’s copyrighting your material. This actually takes much more time then you think to do it correctly. With most of the crap I’m unfortunate enough to hear being produced these days, it’s most likely not worth stealing. So, keep settling for your .004 cents a stream and keep feeding the beast.

I am sending my first song around locally before it is actually released and the feedback has been amazing. I’m the feature on the track, but people have been coming back for my part. I got different age groups and races and genders loving the song so far. And it has been shared from Texas, where I reside, to Atlanta, Seattle, Tennessee, just to name a few. I’ve gotten questions about when it releases on iTunes for purchase. I’ve played the song for people in bars and grocery stores WITHOUT telling them who it was for a less biased opinion. I played it in my car when at drivethrus and had people dancing to the song before I told them who it was. When the song releases, I’m hoping those people will visit the official release. So my tip to you is to work hard on one song. Share it locally. If you think it sounds great, get opinions. But the greatest tip of all is to listen to yourself in the end.

I used to play in a band. When we released our first album we had a fairly good following but the release didn't extend any further than those who already followed us which kinda got me down. Then I found out about PR. If you want your release to be featured in blogs, online magazines, talked about by influencers, reviewed, etc, then you need some form of PR behind the release. For our releases from then on we always sought out a PR company to work with us to get a campaign together. Some were more successful than others. But it's how we got into those magazines etc. Now this was almost 10 years ago, times have changed where hustling to create your own PR is relatively achievable. My advice (as well as following this video) is once you're release is ready, hustle to get as much PR as possible! :) If you know anyone who can do PR then get to know them and get them to help. Awesome video btw!

What is a PR? I’ve never heard of that before. That sounds like a great idea to try out.

@@iamsethreins PR stands for Public Relations but it's essentially everything to do with media. The reason anything ends up on the news, in a magazine, on a blog, talked about by an influencer, etc. It's almost always going to be because a PR company (or PR department of a bigger company i.e. a record label) has managed to get it to the right person. Record Labels have their own PR departments who will have a bunch of contacts to ensure that the artists who release through them get talked about by the right people. There are separate PR companies who aren't part of a record label who specialise in music PR specifically. The most important thing to note is that if you want your music to be talked about in media (on the radio, tv, reviewed in magazines, talked about by 'alt press', 'kerrang', 'nme' or 'rocksound', etc) then you need someone with the contacts for those places to make that happen. A PR company will offer you that. Just be careful, some of them will promise you all that but won't deliver.

Currently rebranded myself after taking a year off (thought I was giving up for good at the time, but missed music too much so I came back), have 2 tracks out of 2 recorded so far, and making sure I'm not releasing anything until I apply all these tips first

How is it possible for you to have so little subscribers?? Your channel is pure gold and I'm sure it's yet to be found by many!! It has amazing content, you don't waste our time with vague parts just to get to the 10 min mark, your techniques are amazing... And the best part? It is completely free!!!!! To watch this video I just had to watch an add of another guy trying to sell less information than yours and you offer it for free. For that, I THANK YOU!!! This is not an attempt of making publicity for myself, this a genuine and HUGE thank you. In a few days I've learned more about social media, Spotify, and basically about how our industry works right now than I've ever before. I can't thank you enough, In just two days me and my band have updated our feed entirely, we've been answering to all of the comments with all the technics you taught us, we are 100 times more organized with our posts and music as well. Alex, Maddy, thank you so much. I would hug you if I could
