I have owned my staffy for 8 loveable playfull years and i would say if you want the biggest lap dog and friendliest dog with kids then a staffy is for you. Melts my heart watching bond my 4yr old has with her.

Couldn’t have any other breed after having my Staffy girl. She died last year at the age of 13, and left a Staffy shaped hole in my heart! I’ve now got a lovely senior Staffy boy from a local rescue, so it’s back to being stared at while I eat and accompanied bathroom trips!

@@ktool4855 no she was in good health all her life apart from the cancerous lump on her back. Staffies can sometimes have itchy, flakey skin, (known as staffy dandruff!) Staffies also more prone to getting hip dysplasia. They are brilliant little dogs though, if a bit dramatic. My staffy boy stood on a bee while I was walking him, I ended up having to carry him home!

UK blue here as well, my girl poppy is 10 mths old and 21.5 Kg of Solid muscles, she's the most kindhearted girl in the world, she's almost apologetic when meeting other dogs, she's so gentle and gets almost flat down with bowed head and tail wagging furiously....yet there are still people who cross the road when they see her..... their loss

I always used to have GSDs. 10yrs ago our old boy turned his paws up. I went to the local rescue to look for a replacement and came back with a 3yr old Staffy, Lulu because she glued herself to me as soon as I got there. If I had known how affectionate they are I would have had one long before. We have never had the slightest problem with her. She is very good at disarming people who are nervous of her, she just simply goes upside down, it is very difficult to be scared of a dog that is laid on its back waggling its legs in the air.

☝🏻Rescued my girl at 2.5 years old, sight unseen to be my service dog to train for my needs, from 100+/- miles away and they delivered her from Weatherford, Texas to Dallas, Texas...she turned 11 yesterday and we had a great rescue that DNA their rescues to inform the adopter exactly what they are spending the rest of the furbaby life with the(reduces rehoming rates significantly and is part of the adoption fee)...they gifted her to me because I went to claim her EVERY second of EVERY single day from the moment I saw her and NO other would do!!! Persistence pays off dearly because I claimed her at ANY cost(and ohhhh do I have the scars to prove it but I wouldn't change a single thing for these 8.5 years she has been in our lives) plus neither of us had ANY pets after ~15 years together much less a reed like hers but she was mine and anything was possible when you put God in control of the situation.🙏🏻 💁🏻‍♀️Found by the sherriff New Year's Eve 2013, on the side of the road, in distressed labor of 3 boys & 2 girls, 1 boy was stuck...emergency c-section and 1 boy didn't make it...the girls were soooo blue they were lavender AND merle(before merle was a thing)...we later wished we had one of her girls too, but living urban, in a 4-story multi split level condo(townhome called condo for mortgaging reasons...garage on 1/living&dining with powder room on 2/2 bedrooms&2 bathrooms on 3/loft on 4) was not reasonable at the time.😊

This is wild. I'm in close to the same spot (my GSD boy just passed after 9 wonderful years) and I'm doing research on other breeds (I've always had a soft spot for staffies when I volunteered in shelters, so sweet!) and I keep being drawn back to staffies. So good to hear!!

We rescued Rainne in April 15 this year. We had lost our previous dog October 2021 after 16 years and it took us a very long time to decide to get another. As soon as we saw her, we knew she was the one. She is definitely everything he says they are in this video. Full of energy, love and devotion. Hi I'm 77senior lady and met my Staffie when my grandson brought this rescue into my house and he jumped on my lap. Love at first sight even though I mourned the loss of my Shitzu that last year. My only problem is 62lbs of love on my lap is hard to handle, but I spoil him anyway. He is 2 1/2 yrs was chained from SC. (I'm in Ct) and really is not very active. He does jump up on my pool table to look out the big window and follows me all over the house I have a fenced yard but he rather sit next to me on the patio.I love him to death.

It's been a lot of work but my girl is slowly ingratiating herself with the locals. Most days I'll have kids asking to smooth my dog, she loves it and is a fantastic ambassador for the breed. She went and rescued my daughter when she went too far out on the beach today, herded her back, couldn't be prouder.

TOO LATE!!! I already have one - and ALL the points you raised are so incredibly true. Actually, my Staffie's mother was a pregnant rescue (pitbull) and had a mixed bag of breeds!! (8 pups.) I chose one of the only two females, and I had NO IDEA what I was in for. It turned out she is about 95% SBT and 5% Ridgeback (she has a 3 inch "against the grain" streak on the top of her withers). I named her 'Skittles" because of her rich dark chocolate colouring. She is everything you identified in your video and more!! She also has a fierce hunting instinct which is unbreakable!! She is now one year old - and I have NO REGRETS!! She also has free rein in the enclosed yard (for exercise), is intelligent, mischievous, way too inquisitive, and makes herself understood. I am hooked!! You have described by Skittles to a "T"! Saved your video.

I had heard Ontario banned Pitbulls but had left it for BC 5 years before. I was surprised how you said you get so many bad comments. I heard that on some channels but did not know it was so often. To the 5th point i had a fun experience with my 7month puppy. We were waiting for my wife to go in to a stor for a quick thing so i stood on a piece of grass beside a broad walkway. The puppy was quite warm so he was sitting just beside me with his mouth open following all the amazing humans passing by. Then there came a group of five young men, walking side by side talking loud/yelling, almost scuffing ppl aside. When they came close to me and my little human lover they all went silent and moved to the opposite side of the walkway in a line. When they were well passed they went back side by side going loud again.

There is much confusion, & ignorance when it comes to pit looking , everything is not a pitb. Only the APBT Staffies were bred way back , before pitb ever exhisted. Tho !Staffies were used for bull& bear baiting, & in the making the APBT,, & were used for pit fighting, they were family dogs, & only dog agressive It was in 80s, pitb. got th bad rap, today's Staffies,.. reputable breeders should have bred out the aggression .., but the prey drive is in their inheritance

I've had dogs in my life, mostly labs, for over 40 years. Including a very nervy rough collie. That dog was the one we had to be most careful with as kids would approach the "Lassie dog" who could very easily fear bite (his previous human was cruel). Last week my lovely old lady and first (but not likely last) SBT died at the age of 15. She taught me so much and completely converted me to this wonderful breed. You're right about how people judge a breed. My last dog was a labx and people never crossed the road to avoid him. There is something special about the super soppy bundle of muscle, love, play and incredibly stinky farts that is the SBT. Complete canine companions, even if they do burst into the bog to make sure you are evacuating you bowels correctly.

As long as you remember that they are a powerhouse, especially for their size, you will not go wrong with a Staffie. Discipline, exercise and socialisation are key. They are smart, fun, loving, enjoy riding shotgun and hold conversations with you in their own way, with a soppy grin on their face. Amazing dogs with all members of the family. I absolutely love them. I currently have 2 sisters and I cannot wait to get home from work to see them, they get so excited to greet you. They even know the sound of my car (or they tell time 😁) as they are always waiting for me to pull in the driveway.

I don’t own a Staffy but I sometimes hear comments about the breed or other pit Bull breeds not being trustworthy so people are naturally afraid. I had a beautiful 14 inch tall staffie for 13 years, I'd take her out 3 times a day, I owned my own shop so she'd come to work with me, she loved training, chasing seagulls on the beach. He is bang on the mark with dogs. If you want a great companion and are prepared to do what's needed get one but if not don't because it's not fair on the dog. Most people don't think about, training exercise, diet important etc. Staffies are the best if you ask me. Stuff what others think.

Brilliant and intelligent piece, also spot on. Would just add , you might never visit the toilet on your own again !! There is only one downside - and that is when they pass away. We have had them since 1981 and wouldn't consider any other breed. Incidentally - your SBT looks ACE !!!!

I can suggest when you go to view the pups and mama, ask the breeder and also pay attention to how the little interact with eachother. These was six pups, 4 girls seemed very energetic, 1 brother was fast asleep amongst the chaos and my little boy would take breaks and chill or sleep. He waddled over to me and fell asleep by my feet, instantly fell in love. 8 years on I still call him my pup as he looks and acts like a 3 year old. He enjoys play time but also enjoys watching life and TV upside down hanging off the edge of the couch. I'm so happy I got a staffy it was the perfect breed for me, when I go to work he will spend all day round me fixing cars/bikes if I have a gardening job my little man is with me. On occasion he can't come I'll drop him off at nanas and gd or get a friend, it's really no bother. Even cats shouldn't be alone for large periods of time. I respect people that really want a pet but don't because their work lifes doesn't fit having an animal, thing is animal's are the best thing for stress and well-being. I ended up changing my life around a bit to accommodate my pup and have no regrets.

My staffies sometimes drive me crazy but they are my life and my happiness not matter how I feel they are always next to me to make me smile ♥️🐶 it's true about country restrictions coz before moving from the UK to Italy I had to make sure my two furry babies were allowed into the country and I was lucky enough, here in Italy you can own a Pitbull type breed dog and the law also said every building private or council can have dogs in the property

I think you nailed it good job I agree the Staffordshire terriers probably the most loving dog you can get highly intelligent and incredible understanding of vocabulary lots of love extremely trainable however you can Never reverse yourself when you tell them something stay consistent with everything or they won’t believe you follow through with everything when you tell him know you mean it

I think it's always good to know what kind of dog you are and what kind of personality you are before you adopt a dog. If it doesn't suit me well, it's uncomfortable for each other. It's a big responsibility, so you have to look into it and bring it back. It's really good information. ^^

I lost my Staffy a few weeks ago and when my family will be ready for another dog it’ll be a Staffy again. I didn’t run into a few of the problems mentioned. My wife and I work all day, though my wife stops by the house now and again throughout the day. Our girl didn’t destroy, go to the bathroom in the house or display any destructive behavior, she just slept most of the time. We are not a highly active family and that suited our dog just fine. We took her out for two 15-20 minute walks and let her run around the backyard when she wanted to, that was enough for her. Lastly this is unique to where I live (NY), there are now laws against breed discrimination. If you’re not in NY and are worried about home insurance, State Farm doesn’t breed discriminate in any state to my knowledge.

My male staffie i got in 7th grade dog litterly lived full 14 years and sadly passed 2021. His wife also staffie is about 11years still kicking good family dog obedient and yes the only problem with the guy when he was still around. What do you think about Staffies being in a Dog Daycare setting? I'm a bit worried, since I know if these dogs aren't properly socialized can get aggressive towards other dogs. At the daycare I work, there's a 4 month staffy that just started going there. He is really high energy, apparently owner is and will take him to extra training classes. But he has a lot to learn since he's very young , he still hasn't learned boundaries. Do you think even with all that , it's ok for staffies to join a dog daycare at least once a week?

That is a tough call. Really depends on the dog, the daycare staff, the environment, and the other dogs at daycare. Any dog that hasn't learned boundaries or been socialized can struggle at a daycare, and the staff need to be mindful or body language and stress factors any dog shows while in their care. Personally I've never had my Staffy at a daycare, even though I think she would do fine, I've just never had to do it. I'd work closely with the daycare manager, get as much info as possible, and consult with a trainer. I can't say one way or the other if it's a good or bad idea. Some Staffies would thrive and love daycare, others might not

Yeah so long as they get the exercise they need you can make the workdays manageable. At least when they are adults and can make it a while between bathroom breaks. Not ideal, but can work, I know I've been there with my Staffy, luckily I work from home now
