Our staffy is a rescue... he was at the shelter 3 months and was adopted then returned 3 or 4 times before I found him. His name is Blade (his shelter name) and he's the sweetest guy! My favorite thing about him is his singing ❤️

We rescued a Staffy 4 years ago, absolute joy. She is perfect. A few months back, a sweet little boy needed a home. We thought he is Pitt, although his size is saying he is Staffy. Pleased, as we did not really want a large dog, we have small house..hehe. Around 1yo, he is still learning like any puppy. Belle and Tazz are the best things to happen in our life. They have made our life better❤

My lovely Staffy girl died a few weeks ago. She converted me to this wonderful breed. The love, the cuddles, the silliness. The following you to the loo or bath to supervise, which is disconcerting at first! Nothing beats the Staffy Smile, the loving eyes, the unbelievably waggy tail. I hope she enjoyed her 15 years as much as I did.

The fact your "Pup" was blessed to be with a good friend for so long shows she had a long happy life! Be proud you gave her a good life and cherish those days. I've had three in my life, the last one (Daisy, 15 years 6 months) was my last. Kudos and respect to anyone who can take on the responsibility of another Staffy (or any dog after a loss) but for now I can't, maybe one day.

@@michaelryan6947 It's been a year since I lost my lass. People have told me to "just get another dog" many times. For most of my life, I've had a canine companion. What many folk don't realise that it's as much about a dog choosing you, But I feel more able to look for a dog willing to take me on now. When you are ready to be a good human friend it will happen. I hope.

I got my Staffy 9yrs ago. My German shepherd turned his paws up at the same time as I suffered a minor heart attack, so we thought a smaller dog would be a good idea while I recuperated. I went to the rescue centre and was immediately adopted by Lulu, a very small Staffie. If I had known how affectionate and attentive they are I would have had one years ago.

Thanks for the video Chris - I got my staffy July 29 2022= the breeders surrenders him because he has a neurological condition. They left him at the shelter and said ‘if you don’t take him they will dump him by the road). Shelter said 3nyrs vet said according to teeth 2 yrs. He is great company - I live alone and he has a really scary bark (although one in my home he would probably lick them). Great walks - he doesn’t bark, but whines - takes me a while to figure out what the whine means. He is my first dog, I have congenital dysplasia so knowing he might get later on - felt we’re well suited.

My partner and I spoke loads about what kind of dog we would get when we finally moved in together and never mentioned a staffy.... We puppysat the only staffy puppy left out of my friend's dogs litter for a weekend so she could go to her mams birthday and fell in love instantly, 13 months later I couldn't imagine my life without him and his favourite person in the whole world is my 'dog hating, staffys are awful and vicious, dogs are dirty, don't let dogs lick you' mother, who gets all the kisses and cuddles in the world and absolutely spoils him whenever we visit Staffys are the best little weirdos ever 💙

I've had SO MANY dogs throughout my life; from the mixed breed puppies I had briefly as a little kid (my mother would let us have a puppy, then EVERY TIME, she'd start to whine and complain about how filthy they were and one day, we'd wake up and she'd tell us the pup ran away; by the time I was 15, I had caught on to the fact that she was goading our weak, ineffective dad into dumping those dogs off on the side of a local highway somewhere!) to the large, stray Collie and German shepherd we'd play with in the woods every day, dogs who were left behind when a neighbor moved away....to my Basset Hounds I had in my 20's, I've had so many dogs in my life. After the two Bassett Hounds died, I just couldn't go through it again, so I lived dogless and alone for years. One day almost 2 years ago, I was repairing a dishwasher for a family who was involved in Pit Bull and "Bully breed" rescues, and they had this 2 month old American Staffordshire Terrier that they were anticipating having trouble adopting out because he's mostly black, with white boots and a white splash on his throat and chest; apparently, black pits and bully breeds are next to impossible to find homes for...? I never knew this. Long story short, I got this guy and he was house trained in less than 3 weeks, he's smart as can be, too smart sometimes! I swear this dog has a syntax for understanding human language; he seems to know exactly whatever I'm discussing with others! He's a bigger baby and "scaredy-cat" than my Bassett Hounds were, lol. He LOVES EVERYONE, doesn't bark much, and he keeps me a LOT more active than I was! Although I realize that my dog is the larger, American variation of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, his behavior and temperament is identical to these 2 dogs; he's goofy, cuddly, energetic, and above all, he loves people and other dogs, but unfortunately, most people take one look at him and they cross the street....and he cries so loudly as he tries to run over and introduce himself to them. Due to the Covid debacle at the time, he never did get neutered, SO...he plays well with other dogs, UNTIL he tries to mount them; at that point, the other dogs usually go ballistic on him, and he doesn't understand why they turn on him. In any case, I recommend this breed to anyone who wants a funny, lively, loyal dog who's also pretty tranquil inside the house. I love this dog so very much!

Due to bad media coverage I thought they should be banned however a friend of mine asked if I could rescue a puppy from some drug Addicts that had plans of just using her to breed puppies they could sell anyway I agreed she was only five weeks old I’d not asked what breed she was it didn’t matter turned out she was a staffy! Well how wrong was I to judge she was the most cheeky mischievous loving dog I had her eleven years ! I would definitely say there the best dog ever! Only regret is that I didn’t get one sooner ❤️

Hi, great vid.. I have a 9 year old brindled loyal lady... however I have two things I'm struggling with.. 1 trimming her nails, she gets nervous, she hurt her paw (not seriously but cut it a bit and seems to have stayed with her) and I have tried every way and trimmer, clippers, grinder but she still not impressed... the 2nd is she was amazing before lockdown, wouldn't heat a peep if I went out the door.. now she gets anxious and cries (I know, feel so bad) I wfh most days but have to go to the office 1 day a fortnight ) or if I go away for the weekend others in the house hear her none stop no matter what they do, show her affection.. leave her on her own for a bit.. let her out.. bring her in.. walks.. tv.. lights.. music.. treats nothing and I wish I could help her for her sake... any ideas... she's amazing and so full of life any other time and happy and funny 🤣 super loving too

I am far from an expert dog trainer. With the nails though I trained my Bully pup by distracting him with a kong or putting plastic wrap on a wall with peanut butter. He barely knew I was trimming his nails. The separation anxiety is a tricky one. Hard for me to say, don't want to give bad advice there. I'd recommend a consult with a professional trainer to work on a game plan to help your baby feel relaxed in those moments. Appreciate the comment Bex!

@chrissey663 I have to advise that Yes in my opinion staffies are one of if the the best dog breed but if you’re not serious about caring for a dog or get tired of them after they’re not puppies anymore it’d be smart not to get one. But trust me it’s hard to get tired or stop caring for them they are so addicted to their owner so trust me it’s so hard not to fall in love with one of them. Good luck and congrats on starting your journey with a dog that I promise you will change your life.

The only downside I can think of regarding the breed 🐶 is they are like a damn shadow. So if you want to have some alone time without a dog, it Can become a little problem. I remember when my wife first came home with the dog, I was constantly tripping over that little shit, in the kitchen, in the garden, in the bedroom in the garage everywhere he was behind me or next to me 😁 But You will fall in love immediately once you get used to having a shadow you can trip over 🐶 ❤❤❤❤ Ps. Please excuse my crappy English, but it's not my native tongue 🤷🏼‍♂️

Reason #11? So many of these sweet, smart, awesome dogs are being killed are sold to medical research because this world makes it hard for people to have room for them. I got my amstaff from a Detroit shelter 6 months ago when he was a 1 and half year-old pup. They had clipped him at a young age, so he is really puppy-ish still. He was slated to be killed that week along with 45 other all staffies! That how bad the problem is here. A whole shelter with only staffies; 200 of them-😢 His name is Harbor; I kept the name he got at the shelter because that’s his name. He’s black with a patch of white on his chest, and a thin white line on his head. I’ve had dogs all my life: a Great Dane/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, an English Mastiff pure bread, a Hungarian Kuvasz, and a Coy dog. I love all those past friends, but Harbor is the most cuddly, crazy, smart, people-loving, dog-loving, and sweet critter in life’s series of dogs that I’ve met yet. I’m so glad he wasn’t killed for no other reason than supply and demand. EVERYONE WHO CAN; should try to make room for a dog that just wants to live and be happy.

The BEST staffy I have ever known is a rescue, Piglet. She has one ear that is kind of bent a bit, she has a tail that wags constantly unless she's sleeping, she is adorable, she is playful, and she is so gosh darn immaculately well behaved you almost want her to be a little bad now and then.. She only gets into mischief if her half Chihuahua, half dachshund pal Ivy is visiting. It breaks my heart to think that she was ever a lonely dog awaiting rescue. What an AWESOME dog she is. Please, folks, search the shelters and the rescue programs and bring a dog that deserves a home into yours.

My son had a friend that was going to college and traveled a lot. She was trying to find a home for him. The best dog we ever. Was on an acrerage the had to move to an apartment and had to give him up. Luckily we have know this person for years. I went to visit once ages ago and she was brushing it's teeth. So it wasn't so hard to let him go. It would have been cruel trying to live in an apartment. I'm not strong enough to leash training.

I have a young staff mix. My gosh he’s so always in my face😂. He needs the dog park every day but then he’s settled. Needs to chew a lot. I had to train him well to walk as I’m old and he’s young and very strong. But he’s my beautiful boy. I just got him a puppy to play with.

They are so great! I just ned the around $2K price tag. Yes I know, I _could_ get a rescue. But I don't think there really are many, if *any* English Staffies in Norwegian rescue centers. (No I checked. Only like 1 or 2 looking to "re-home", and they were like half the price-ish, with a butt load of interest😅) So yeah..

☝🏻💁🏻‍♀️My 11 year old girl absolutely LOVEs the littles(kiddos) AND very intelligent!!!😍👍🏻 100% American Staffordshire I rescued sight unseen intending for her to be my service dog...all I had to do was teach her basic canine good citizenship skills and she taught me the rest as what her signals were to be...I need her for balance(gait /counterbalance) but she was always on my legs/feet or right there at the foot of the bed which later we discovered that she was grounding me through seizures in my sleep and just a couple of years ago she was constantly in my face or licking me whereas a diabetes diagnosis was made (it's difficult to take her with me to a doctor appointment because she is sooo in tune with everyone's illness...a couple of years ago she always poked her nose and sniffed my neighbor's belly and it ended up ~6 months later my neighbor had diverticulitis!!!) She is my service dog for 8.5 years and goes everywhere and enjoys adults as well...if we are out, she can sense when someone wants to interact and wags her tail sometimes knocking stuff off the shelf, but IF she doesn't get some love she will plop on the floor spread out and WILL NOT MOVE regardless of the bribe(beef jerky that she personally carries across the entire store to the checkout and drop it to pay/chicken/vienna sausages) so I have to hoist her limp 100lb booty with her harness a few times before she reluctantly decides to comply.

Some people cross staffies with huskies and call them pitskys... I'm pretty sure that's what my dog is, although the shelter where I got her said retreiver/ shepherd mix... I've had her two years now and she's four and a half... best pet I ever had, and by her looks people say she's just an ordinary mutt...

Maybe a bit of a downbuzz but I did so much research on staffies and such and I've got a 14 week old and it's been a terrible experience to say the least, so my experience is a little bit different. She's so extremely independent, not affectionate or craves attention at all and is just an all around menace with no cares for how she acts, she won't really follow rules or commands, even with training there needs to be treats for her attention (sort of like, what's in it for me) , no teamwork at all. I got the staffy for the exact reasons you mentioned in your video but it's turned out to be the opposite. Would you happen to know or have experiences with this type of staffy character? Thanks.

I personally haven't experienced this, but she is still young and perhaps the bond and trust hasn't been established yet. Hard to say, but consulting with a trainer would be the best course of action. I find dogs won't follow commands, crave affection, or interact with someone they haven't bonded with or trust. Not saying that is the case, but it's possible. She is also very young, it's a new interesting world, so hold her attention can be hard but is something that can be learned.

@@PibblesAndBits Yeah I mean she does follow commands but I have to be really strict on her and do a lot of obedience training for example before I feed her food etc. And yeah the bond does take a while to develop but I guess her natural temperament is that she is more independent and isn't actively seeking attention. She'd much rather sniff around, wander around places alone in the house or outside etc and chew something to occupy her time haha. I guess even within the same breed everyone has their individual traits and personalities. She's smart but yeah, not going to lie, these aren't the traits that are ideal for my personality.

@@PibblesAndBits I guess at some point you just know what type of dog you got , if that makes sense and you sort of feel the compatability and not gonna lie, it seems a bit off so not sure what to do moving forwards aye. Do I give her away to a better suited owner or just keep her? That's the question I ask myself daily !

☝🏻💁🏻‍♀️She's a PUPPY and that's what puppies do...😉 Socialize her publically when you can every chance you get...my girl was rough around the edges at 2.5 years old and a country girl in the city, talk about being over stimulated while I have the scars to prove it!!! We are now living in the country with less stimulation from being in the city and she knows the 3 places we go...still doesn't do little dogs or younger dogs, but last year were discovered frolicking in my vegetable garden with the neighbors male doggos, a lab and a retriever, and now I have okra growing in various spots I didn't plant them in with the tomatoes/cucumbers/peppers🙄🤷🏻‍♀️
