Believe it or not, I got an (almost) mint one for $50. My local store had a used one and didn’t realize it was defective. I pointed it out to them and they were going to pull it from the floor. The problem was the OVF didn’t get blocked when you switch to EVF, so you saw a double image in EVF mode. I offered them $50 and they sort of shrugged and said OK. Then I put a piece of gaffer tape over the viewfinder and now the EVF works perfectly. If I ever want to use the optical finder, which I really don’t, but if I do, I just pull off the tape until I want to switch back to the electronic finder. Best deal I ever made on a camera!

I’ve recently returned to making photographs with A canon 5d classic. Outside of 4x5 and 8x10 large format film, it makes better images than anything else I have tried.

Glad you found an x100v! The whole x100 series is so great. If I’m not shooting sheet film, I’m almost always using mine.

A “V” is $2k. A “T” is available for $500. I’m keeping my “T” that I’ve owned forever because I love its simplicity. Plus I barely have 1200 shots on it. I’ve no incentive to upgrade. 😂

Got my 100T 3 years ago. Agree; it's not for BIFs or kids (I have a 21/2 y/o grandson). For that I have an E-M1MkIII. But for walk-around shooting, it's spectacular.

Great shots! I just picked up a T from KEH. I’d love a V, but until it becomes available at a reasonable price, I’ll enjoy making images with the T.

Thank you! Yes that’s exactly what I did and why I felt like I needed to make this video because even now that I have the V I wanted people to know it’s not a huge upgrade.

Hi - you take beautiful photos. Just wondering what your settings are?
@AlysVintageCameraAlley Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I usually use the standard film simulation and indoors just set my ISO to 1600, lens aperture wide open and change the shutter speed accordingly. That’s really it. Everything else is still set the way it came.

@@AlysVintageCameraAlley Thanks for sharing the settings! I love your photos. I have the same camera and i really like the sharpness of the lens and film the simulations. I have few olympus digicameras from same era and they have different coloring and and less sharp with the lenses I have. This Fuji camera definately has it's own character.

The Trans II sensor is amazing. I recently purchased an X70 to pair with my XPro3. I was close to getting an X100T, but I wanted something more pocketable.

Thanks for this video! I totally agree, this camera is still amazing. I´ve been using it for some 3 years now both for my family and all kinds of projects where I need a small camera and all I can say it just delivers! It´s small enough to fit in a pocket and carry around with you everywhere and the resulting files are beautiful. You can pretty much do anything you need with them, including really big prints. The lens is sharp- I mean sharp- except wide open at close up. Even at f 2 a little bit further away - like a metre or so- it´s sharp. This camera in combination with the beautiful magazines from Blurb make my family history! Btw, thanks to Daniel Milnor for promoting the Blurb magazines- the are amazing!

I was curious if you had any guidance on where I could get great videos to learn photography. I've had this camera for over 10 years actually and I started learning it but was still a beginner and lost a lot of my knowledge. I was hoping to hire someone maybe once a week to teach me but not sure where to even go for that. Any guidance you have is appreciated. Great video!

Nick Carver has a course I actually took when I was restarting my journey in the basics. He also has an awesome channel here. I have videos on different films and plan on making more educational ones as well. I’m always willing to answer questions as well. But Nicks course is what I’d recommend

Cool review Aly! Alaina is so adorable! Definitely still seems like a very cool camera to shoot with. Everything you need in a digital camera as a film shooter in a nice and compact form factor.

Thanks Davy! Yes it definitely is. I mostly wanted to show that if you don’t need 4K video and don’t want to wait or spend for the x100v, this model is still a great option.

First of all, your daughter is CUTE, and I love how you're able to photograph her in action and capture details like the intensity of her gaze. Second, the megapixels, as you put it, are not what makes a camera great beyond a certain point, and for most people, that point is around 11 megapixels. If I remember correctly, 11mp is the point at which you can print an 8x10 enlargement with resolution high enough that few human eyes can tell the difference between digital and film, and for pictures that will only be seen on screens, that threshold is even lower. I used a Sony CyberShot DSC-P71, which was produced in the early 2000s and I bought used in 2006 or so, for about 12 years. Despite only having a 3mp CCD, it took terrific pictures, thanks to excellent optics and very good ergonomics. The photos I got from it looked great on the screen, with lifelike color saturation and crisp resolution. The limitation was printing: up to 4x6 prints were as good as my printer could make them, but the grain became noticeable at 5x7, and any print larger than that was unacceptable. So, more megapixels mean you can make larger prints, but if the optics or ergonomics aren't up to snuff, you'll have difficulty taking pictures that are worth printing at all. With your FujiFilm X100T, you're good for 11x14 prints and even a little larger.

Thanks Mark. And yes you’re right about the MP. Even for video all you need is 12 mp

Thanks for the video! I have an X100T and I also primarily shoot photos of my kid and was wondering if the autofocus on the V was improved enough to justify the purchase. Seems like it probably is. Will have to wait it out until stock is reasonable because I can't justify paying over MSRP when I already have a great camera that does 95% of what I want

I know exactly what you mean. That’s the main reason I made this video to show that the T is perfectly fine in the meantime. Thanks for watching!

Just bought x100t as my first “real” camera. How should i learn about it and photography in general? What would you do in my position?
@AlysVintageCameraAlley11 ай бұрын
Shoot in manual. Get to know the way exposure works. That’s the first step. Get to know ISO, shutter speed and aperture and how the different combinations work together to create different looks. Hope that helps! I’m excited for you. I miss the honeymoon phase of photography 😂 And as far as getting to know the camera itself, I recommend taking a picture everyday. I just took pictures every single day and it started to become second nature.

Great video. Actually the whole marketing enterprise relies on convincing the consumer that the latest is the best. In my opinion some vintage cameras and lenses have never been surpassed. Actually, for sharpness and accuracy 19th century Daguerreotypes are equal and better than any 21st century equivalents (just a heap more trouble to produce).
