The only shutter speed that you have to select before cocking the shutter is 1/500th. That’s true with a lot of folders with leaf shutters.

You can buy converted pre-AI glass. At one point you could send the lens to the Nikon factory and they would convert it to AI. You can also get janky home conversions, but they seem to be viewed as inferior the factory ones

I’ve been keeping an eye out lately for the factory converted ones. Not easy to find though.

Nice video. I recently got an F3 for myself with a Waist Level finder and its an amazing camera. Just a note. You ateted thet you cant use Pre-AI lens on F3, but you can in fact. You need to flip up the AI tab (there is a small button that allows you to do that). Metering is via the stop-down method, that is to use the DOF preview button and see what the Meter gives you and using either M or A modes, adjust manually the exposure. Edit. I saw that you corrected a bit later that you can use PRE-AI. :D Note to self: See the video till the end :D

I was curious if you had any guidance on where I could get great videos to learn photography. I've had this camera for over 10 years actually and I started learning it but was still a beginner and lost a lot of my knowledge. I was hoping to hire someone maybe once a week to teach me but not sure where to even go for that. Any guidance you have is appreciated. Great video!

I’m fascinated with those photographers. Such bravery. And the Nikons were just as tough as nails as their users. He must have some amazing stories. I featured someone on my website who shot a Nikon in Vietnam if you want to check it out. A minor correction: the longest shutter speed is 8 seconds, not 1/8s. Nitpicking aside, great review, better than most I've seen on the F3. So many reviews just say things like "it takes great pictures!" (as long as it's not broken, why wouldn't it?) and "I just loved using it! without really going into any detail on the features or how it compares with other cameras. After getting a D200 in 2006 I didn't shoot film at all until 2018 when I decided to get an F (FTn) on eBay. I used that for a few months before I decided to get an F3. Like you said, it just feels very pleasant to use. It has heft without feeling heavy and the controls just all feel very nice. It seems dumb to care about the film advance lever so much, but it really is very satisfying. I just feel like I want to take photos with it. I do agree with the common complaint that the LCD is less than ideal though, and the light for the LCD is completely useless. I was gifted an FE2, and while in some ways it's better on paper, I just don't enjoy using it that much. The overall feel just doesn't seem as nice, and since I view with my left eye, I really hate that the film advance lever has to be pulled out to activate the meter. I accidentally turned the meter off several times with the bridge of my nose. As far as aperture priority goes, my first SLR was an EM, which *only* had aperture priority, other than flash sync and bulb. So that's what I'm used to. I shoot in manual mode occasionally, but most of the time if I'm up against difficult lighting I just point it at what I'm basing the exposure on and recompose while holding the AE lock button, which is arguably in a good spot. I want to shoot some more with my F too, but the meter is currently being more flaky than I would like, so that's going to have to wait until I can take a close look at it.

How do you set the photo so that it is not blurry?
@AlysVintageCameraAlleyАй бұрын
The x100T is an autofocus camera. So if your photos are blurry you may have turned your lens to manual focus or your autofocus is broken. Otherwise to focus, you look at your subject through the viewfinder and softly press the shutter button until the subject is in focus. Hope that helps

Konica C35. Very decent 38mm lens available as either f2.8 or f1.8 on some of the fancier versions. They used the C35 name on a bunch of cameras so just avoid the V version and any of the later ones with built-in flashes as they lack the rangefinder. The Cds metering system does have the inaccuracy issue caused by the lack of mercury batteries, but you can use a SR44 battery (instead of LR44) and the exposure should be pretty close. If you want more accurate exposure, you could diode mod it, but that's kinda getting into the weeds, lol.

I grew up with film but with point and shoot cameras. Mostly 110 film. I got my first DSLR 7 years ago and got into photography. I love digital photography and gear but I found myself going full circle back to film. I bought an old Canon AE-1 back in April and just last week I bought a Minolta srt 202 for $40. A couple of weeks ago I bought a scanner and last week bought the stuff to develop black and white film. Hopefully this weekend I can get started developing. I bought Ilfosol 9 at a local camera store (2 hours away). I'm going to give it a try first. I like the look of the HC 110 though. A man I know used to work for Kodak for over 30 years. He mostly shoots medium and large format. I've seen some of his pics on fb using the HC 110. The contrast is similar to how I edit my digital pics except film is better. I think that's what I want to try next time.
