V6 all day. Save some money on the car w/ all the options I want and still come in cheaper. Personally, I don't want 450hp and 15mpg on my daily driver. Give me a car I can live with every day and be comfortable in.
@Bigburb1345

First off all a new SS and mustangs get 18-21 avg gas mileage. Secondly the only reason you get a V6 is you can’t afford the SS,can’t afford insurance for the SS or drive 100+ miles a day and really need that MPG. I love my 2014 RS but if I could’ve afforded the SS when I was 19 when I bought it I would have. Everyone in here tryna hype up the 3.6 stop tripping get the SS if you can afford it it’s worth it and you know it. 2018 SS with 10k-35k miles go for 28-33k

@@Bigburb1345 of course who wouldn't get a 2SS w/ all the muscle and options IF they could afford it. But for my budget, it's gonna be the 3LT V6 over the 1SS. That thing has no options. Bare bones Camaro with a big engine.

I honestly don’t get why there is so much hate on the V6s. When I bought mine I never would have thought it would matter to that many people. Honestly I think it’s just a way for people to try to demean what you have. I got a lot of guys at school that say crap, but yet they have nothing to show. I have a couple mods on mine so I go to car meets often in the summer (not that I couldn’t if I had no mods) and no one ever says anything. I’ve had guys in brand new C7s or Dodge Demons compliment my car just because it looks good, and I can keep up decent enough with some of the big ol V8s. They respect that it’s still a Camaro and I love it. It ain’t slow either. I don’t care what people say. They have some zoom. Great points my man, you hit it on the head. Guys like you make the V6 guys proud of what they have! Keep up the good work mate👍

I am Mechanical Engineer who worked on Camaro. Great video. I own v6 1le. Let me add couple of more reasons: You don't need premium fuel. I4 and v8 both recommends 93 or premium. Weight distribution. V6 has better weight distribution and it matters with a rear wheel drive Much better than i4, as it power/ torque in sync with rpm inc.

I bought my 2011 V6 Camaro for all of the reasons you've listed in this video. The main reason why I bought a V6 was because of budget - I was lucky and got a good paying job but I wasn't sure how long it would last. I was able to keep that job for several years and paid off my car, and then lost the job a few months later - needless to say that if I'd bought the V8 I'd be crying right now as I peddle my ass to work. The V6 is a lot of fun and the main thing I would want to add is an exhaust system to make it sound beefier. I've been checking out the BBK headers / Pypes cat-back exhaust combo - it makes a V6 sound nice. Thank you for the videos, keep up the good work!! from one PHX resident to another...

Had a 2016 2SS from 2017-2020. I traded it in for a 2020 2LT RS. I drive the same. Same route to work. Never tracked the SS. Saved about $80/mo on insurance. Saved about $20/week on gas. Premium to regular unleaded now. The quad exhaust on sport mode with the V6 sounds great. That's why I now drive the v6. Who cares about the extra HP if you don't even get anywhere near it? And if you did, why sweat if the cops around?

I went out looking for a new camaro back in 2019 and test drove a beautiful red SS and I loved everything about it. Then I tested the rs v6 and came away impressed with the performance, I had a decision to make, I could afford the SS payments but the rs payments where nearly $160 lower. I went with the rs and I'm glad I did.

I own a 2018 RS full loaded, I bought it because of the simple reason that I wanted to have a nice and fun ride for commuting. The car makes 680KM per tank, which is amazing to me. You are right, I would kill for a SS or ZL1, but I wanted the car for going to work and forth, so to me, no reason to pay an expensive maintenance since I don't need the car for racing stuff. I love the car.

There are many advantages in getting a new 2020 V6 Camaro. I hear the 6000mls service for the V6 on its own at a Chevrolet dealer is around half the price of a new V8 Camaro and a 12000ml service is 2/3rds. Plus as we are told in the video, initial cheaper purchase price, cheaper fuel costs and importantly cheaper insurance, for the youngsters that could save them a packet. Even the brake pads and tyres should last a bit longer due to the lesser weight of at least 100kg. Various Superchargers if wanted can be added later on towards the end of the vehicles guarantee. Around just under $6k inc sales tax, but excluding fitting it would give it a bit of a spruce up. When the running cost savings in say 3 to 5 years of not having a V8 but a V6 are added up this would in itself go a long way towards paying for a Supercharger. For those car newbie 16 to 20 year olds it would easily pay for itself. (If they were to have to get their own insurance). From the looks and sound of them and the various YT reviews if I had the cash to buy one I'd get a new Camaro V6 if I was not messed about by a dealer as to the ACTUAL price up to signing for it and even afterwards. Your US car dealers have in many instances a bad reputation in treating its customers. $25k is about as much as I would pay on the road for a lowest spec new V6 excl state sales taxes & all the fluff. That sort of price is about right. It is lamentable that GM do not sell them themselves but leave the customer in the hands of 3rd party franchise shyster dealers. Who lets face it GM behind the scenes may well have more of a loyalty to them than the customer, this is why so many of them think they can get away with their conning price gouging antics. Nitrogen inflated tyres MANDATORY they say in some cases, throughout many of the car manufactures dealers. Such a shame the US car buying public have been conditioned to expect this & the car manufacturers have done very little throughout the years to end some of their dealers various unsavoury antics. So all in all a great car for the price and great for what it is. If such a car is not good enough for someone for use on your roads & highways then nothing much else will ever be good enough. I would be more than happy enough with one, it is at that happy medium between VFM and performance. Of cause a new C8 Corvette would be really nice but with State sales tax & car insurance a buyer could be looking at $35 to $40k extra, though not many C8 1LT models have even shipped so far, so $40k+ difference. There is of cause no guarantee GM will ever be able to start up again the way things currently are, with 30 million unemployed by end of April in the US there will be a long term lesser demand going forward even if they can make them. So if a new car is wanted best to get one while there is a less of a demand & still plenty of supply on the dealer forecourt, you may get it cheaper. Later on though if there is no return to car manufacturing in 2020 the new cars will by then be in lesser supply towards the end of the year & the dealers will wring every last cent out of the new cars they have left. The right decision is to get a new one, the only other main decision is when exactly to buy it. I'd wait for that 30 million unemployed headline on 30th April, then shortly thereafter enquire into getting one.

If you just want something cool looking to cruise out to a local grille or Even daily drive, id say get the V6 all day.. They perform fairly well and you actually save gas. But if you're a performance enthusiast and you want to take it to a track, stand around at a car show and BS about loud burnouts. Then you'll probably be better off with the V8.. not saying you can't do these with the V6, It's just, many people won't appreciate it like we would.

This is an old subject but I want to add my 2 cents 😄 The consequences of making a driving error goes up with HP. As someone that drives at least 3 times more miles than the average U.S. person I can assure you mistakes happen (obviously) and especially in manuals. 335 hp stock for a daily you plan on driving a lot is fun and plenty. Basically I'm saying that I prefer the V6 because with how much I drive the chances that I'll get myself in trouble with 500+ hp is too high. For me it was an easy choice. I'd rather have a Civic than the SS for my purposes. The v6 is a perfect balance for me.

I recently traded in my 3.8 Genesis Coupe for the LT1 and i'm definitely loving the V8. But the drawbacks to the V8 that you stated are a real thing and should definitely be taken into consideration. And mine is an LT1, the SS and ZL1 maintenance costs are may worse. With that being said, V6's get way too much hate for no real reason at all. I owned a BK1 and a BK2 Gen Coupe prior (and I loved them) and my sis has an 8 year old 5th gen v6 Camaro that still runs very well. I don't drive that much per year and I got a great deal on my LT1... so it was worth it to me, but nobody should be shamed or mocked for buying the V6 models. The individuals who do talk shit usually either can't afford the car themselves or have the V8 but an inferiority complex to go along with it. Great build by the way

Great points. My 2011 Synergy green RS has plenty of power for my needs, and It's never been beat on or raced. It's just a beautiful car that's a pleasure to drive. I still have the odd fool want to try me out, but I just ignore the and let them tire themselves out like a toddler. My insurance is $630 a year for full coverage, and I get 30 miles to the gallon on the highway at 70.

This is a tough decision for me, and also the reason that led me to this video! What about a driver who doesn't race and won't go above 100?.. Daily driver. Its between a V6 and an LT1. V8 engine with the V6 body. The base Camaro looks like a rocketship compared to my current 2000s vehicle so I'm fine with that. I won't put any mods since I'll probably get the dual exhaust option. Trading in a 2009 Impala and will put about grand down. Hoping to get combined 12-15k off but we'll see with this market.

Same decision going on for me. We are looking to replace our convertible with another. The premium gas requirement is annoying for the V8. I do like the sound of the V8 but not enough to spend the extra $8000.

Let me put it this way, when men GROW UP, they realize it costs a whole lot less, it gets good mileage, it gets better insurance rates, decent mileage---AND, you do get one "more for less" thing because it is balanced better so it corners better. Most men need to get off this thing of "it's cool to go out and kill someone--or myself--or both--grow up and follow this guy's advice. And one last thing, he talked about it lasting--I would add, it will REALLY last if you take it easy-and drive it stock. No need to load your gun when you don't know how to shoot--and don't need to shoot--and in my case, don't even WANT to shoot. Less is more--for this and most of the time in life.

I driven a 6th gen SS Hertz edition and a 6th gen V6 rental recently. The 6th gen definitely came a long way in terms of the power compared to the V8 4th gen Camaros 93-2002. If you drive the SS Hertz hard, you'll average 11 mpg. At high rpm, you get an instant torque response (which sports mode feels too responsive), but people will say it's too powerful to have fun in terms in driving into back roads like you can do in the Ford Focus RS and Honda Civic Type R. I think the V6 Camaro has a sweet between having a sporty car and a daily driver. The RPM band is good and unlike the Camaro SS, you'll going to burn less gas. The issue with these cars are typical visibility and poor handling (at least the non track trims). A BMW 4 Series coupe (F92 gen) is the best alternative to a 6th gen V6 Camaro in terms of the power, visibility and better handling. The issue with all BMW's are maintenence.

I love my 2021 Camaro V6 1LT, the fastest over the V6 Challenger and Mustang. Rides great has a nice pop to it when you manually downshift to the lowest gear, floor it and put it in auto. Performance/Sport mode is REALLY nice on this trim and you can really hear it when it downshifts or spools up. My best 0-60 right now is 5 seconds flat and it is bone stock. Even is a nice challenge against he Challenger R/T but pulls away in the top end. Can't go wrong with it, my brother has the 2021 LT1 and it is a monster I love both trims.

I recently drop 15 grand for a 2015 Camaro LS and it was almost barely even used! My Camaro does not have a lot of miles when I bought, and it was in really great condition. I really do like sport cars. I enjoy my v6 Camaro because I am currently on a budget (paying for college and home expenses). Nothing wrong with that. Then again some people would try to race me with their v6 mustangs or challengers in my area. I will definately trade my Camaro LS for a 2021 Corvette in a few years from now when I get a really good ass paying job. For now I bought the v6 Camaro because I would like to learn as much as possible before switching to a much faster sports car.

I compared the V6 1LT vs V8 2SS, but in the convertible. Yes, there is a $10,000 difference between the 2, along with the SS having a lot more options. But if you're just looking for a daily, the V6 is plenty fast, and handles quite well. I was blown away at the acceleration, as I did not expect the V6 to be that fast. But in the end, I bought the 2SS. Believe it or not, the V8 costs less to insure, which I found strange. But after chatting with my agent, she explained that the V8 2SS has the blind spot monitoring and frontal crash mitigation, which the V6 1LT did not come with.

@@charmamillion been driving my SS for 3 months now, and grinning every time I do. It actually gets decent gas mileage, 17 city and 21 hwy from my personal experience. And yes, I have no regrets at all. I think buying a V6, or 4 cylinder turbo camaro is like buying a 2wd jeep. Sure you'll save a few bucks, but in my opinion, you're not getting the true identity of what the engineers designed the camaro be. The pure noise of that V8, along with the 455 hp on tap. The only complaint I have is the cylinder deactivation crap, killing 4 cylinders at cruising speeds to save 1-2 mpg.
@Sherman62
@Sherman62 9 ай бұрын
That actually makes sense about the blind spot monitoring. My 2016 V6 is getting amazing mileage for me though. Over 30mpg on my 16 mile commute which has about 18 stop signs/lights. I have not had it on the interstate much but it was passing 31mpg and rising rapidly on the one 8 mile jaunt I did. It cruises level ground at 40-50mpg. Best 50 mile mpg stored in the computer is just over 50. I was shocked at the acceleration the couple of times I've used the performance timer and I surely don't know how to get the most out of it yet. The SS 6.2 must be incredible.

I own a 12' LS base with the 6 speed @ 96K miles. Don't get me wrong, I love my car very much and I was looking into doing something similar. But with that said here are my results (I'm an ASE cert Auto Tech/ Marine Tech). The V6 is a great car for cruising with power to pass others but it has minor issues inherited from the factory. Driving an SS is a night and day difference. Yes, there is a 10K+ price difference. But for the cost it would take to mod a V6 to compete and remain reliable (only performance wise) is much more than 10K. I hear everyone saying; The cadi CTS-V sport is a 3.6L TT and it's reliable. Although those are the same platform (block and heads), the CTS's internals are special. Everything is forged and engineered from the bottom up to reliably support forced induction. SO, if you wanna cruise and wave at the neighbor kids; thats cool. If you want outstanding performance with reliability buy an SS. Side note: Your Ins is based individually. If you get alot of tickets and hit everything around you, stick to a V6. Me for example, 0 pts/ 0 accidents/ 0 claims for 20+ yrs, Racing endorsed. 2 vehicles 1 full, 1 liability. I pay literally less than half of what he says he does. Not trying to put you on blast dude.I NEED AN SS!!!! lol

Hi Alan, Great vid but I am not sure everything you said is 100 percent true. Like the gas mileage on my V8 is not nearly as bad as you said. Of course if I am hammering it at every stop light it might be different but as a daily driver it is just as comfortable. I have had no issues with it at all either. The Chevy parts are very reasonable and I have a mechanic friend who does any mods and work I need done (so yes I am lucky there). I love your V6 and honestly do people even need the power of the V8 - probably not. I have scared the crap out of my friends when I take off. I am in AZ too - the 91 octane gas price is killing me right now but I knew that going into it. I absolutely adore my V8 but no hate to the V6 owners. You guys have great taste...you own a Camaro...now if it was the 4 cylinder that would be a different story. 😂
