Yes Photomators and Pixelmators UI is the easiest to learn and very cost effective too! They've been adding features aggressively as well--much more than their competitors.

Excellent demonstration. Still, I wonder why the Pixelmator team did not add these masking tools to Pixelmator Pro. It would also be cool if they could add AI Generative Fill like in the Photoshop beta. I would pay another license fee for that feature

In my opinion, they are making the same workflow as Adobe has. You're color correcting/grading photos in LR (Photomator) and doing hard/heavy retouching in PS (Pixelmator Pro).

I would guess it's to differentiate and get people to buy Photomator. No technical reason why it can't be added to Pixelmator Pro :)

I use Pixelmator pro for my Mac, as this is where a process photos taken with my canon cameras. I use the Photomator for my iPhone because, as good as Apple claims to be, I still think iPhone photos turn off the greatest. Photomator gives me a wider range of tools that is Necessary due to the weakness and limitations of the iPhone cameras. I used light room for years, decades, and I find this software so much easier to use. As far as the quality, I can’t tell the difference meaning, that this software renders the same information and quality as light room.

Yes Photomator is definitely an upgrade over the built-in Apple Photos app which is actually a subpar editor and hasn't been improved in years. Lightroom is actually overkill for most people the only difference is the object masking technology which is not in Lightroom mobile yet but if integrated can be a differentiator in the future

For me the selection tools are superb. For me the Photo manager is the main reason I got the Photomanager. Question - How to SYNC adjustments from one photo to another selected photos. Is there SYNC like in Lightroom?

It is easy - in Photomanager Right click on an edited photo. Press Copy Adjustments. Select as many photos as you want. Right click > Paste Adjustments.

Yes that is the intent. Many people have commented that they should have just placed all the features in Pixelmator Pro itself.

I've been really enjoying Pixelmator Pro for sometime now. Great and simple alternative. However, PhotoMator is lightyears BEHIND where Lightroom is today.... especially now you can automatically do not only subject selection, but auto masking for eyes, teeth, skin (face and body), and easily apply adjustments to those, even setting it as a preset for batch processing. It really feels like photomator is just too far behind in the modern age... Hopefully they will add more AI features like this.

Yes as you say. Photomator is definitely behind in AI specially in the object masking and photo management features. Their main selling point is price $25 a year vs $120 a year for lightroom.

There's also affinity photo and tone mapping persona, which is insanely good. Local contrast and tone mapping settings really rock! Wish these were on the photomator too!

Glad to hear support for Pixelmator. Their doing some good work. Yes they are missing HDR, tone mapping which they will hopefully add in the future. It's good for Affinity though. Differentiating factor for them!

Pixelmator has no thumbs as it has no photomanager. Neither has photomator I believe.

i only shoot Canon RAW R5 R6mk2 right now. Which software can handle the RAW editing. I'm leaning towards photomator as long as it can handle the my Canon R6mk2. What about Nikon RAW or Sony ARW raw ? I often switch camera gear.

Have you tried editing your RAW with Apple Photos? If it can edit than Photomator supports any camera Apple supports. Here is the official list as of May 2023 support.apple.com/en-ph/HT213267

Is there a way in Photomator to add a folder from the computer and not upload it to Photos on the cloud??

I believe Photomator just uses the Photos library for its own Library. Perhaps you can give this a try. Try to remove the icloud as detailed here : 1. Open the Apple menu and select System Preferences. 2. Select Apple ID. 3. Select iCloud on the sidebar. Follow that by turning off the switches next to the features you want to disable.

I would go with Pixelmator Pro here because its transform tool is much more powerful and simple to use than Affinity's. I would imagine transform is the main tool for body reshaping :)

I would certainly recommend both for photography if you want to spend less than Adobes creative cloud. For most people I would recommend photomator for its more intuitive RAW editing interface, more complete AI masking (it has AI select sky) and files browser. However, if you want to work with layers i.e. replace a background, blur a background, add text etc...than only Pixelmator Pro can do that. So go with Pixelmator Pro in those cases. It depends how you want to edit your photo. Hope that helps!

It relies on apple photos. You can choose any image from your mac to edit but that will be added to apple photos. Similar to using the photos app.

Photomator can make adjustments on parts of a photo but not export a part of a photo (i.e. just export the sky in a photo)

Hello Pixelmator Pro can certainly allow you to create logos and graphics. It has vector tools etc. I don't really use illustratror so I'm not sure what you might be missing if you switch to Pixelmator Pro. 🙂
