Excellent points. I second the recommendation to get out on Canadice and Honeoye Lakes, very special

Very nice… you’ve definitely captured what is special about the little lakes. My last kayak trip on Hemlock’s southern end, this past summer, was probably my best single wildlife experience… watched 3 deer drinking along the shore, saw American eagles (both young and mature) and Osprey (flying directly above) including witnessing an Osprey dive into the water and snatch a fish, then the topper… I watched a deer cross the entire width of the lake at the very southern end where it becomes wetland… at the deepest, could only see it’s head and initially I wasn’t sure what it was until I got close to it when it walked onto the opposite shore. I think the Adirondacks is the only other area relatively close by to permit such an experience.

What an amazing experience! Anyone would be excited to encounter just one of those animals. Wow.

@@fingerlakesexplorersYes, kayaking undeveloped waters at sunrise is always magic but I struck gold that day.
