Glad I found this. So, about 10 years ago I chose "The Demons/Devils" for my first Dostoevsky read. I'm a University graduate in Philosophy and Literature so I wasn't expecting a difficult read but wow, was it ever. The characters and the almost Dickensian level of descriptive prose was so extensive I got lost in all of it. Not having read a 5th of it I put it down. Earlier this year I started anew and finished it within 2 weeks. I admit I was enthralled. Though I wouldn't say it changed my life. Perhaps that will come with a second read. That being said, I imagine I picked the wrong book for my first. I've since read Notes from the Underground and have begun The Brothers Karamazov. I'm still enthralled.
