From the reviews that i have seen, the moza mini mi doesn’t stabilise footage well, or no reviews has bent the knees while operating, however, the other features like roll axis, wireless charging, and sports mode, are all i ever wanted in a gimbal

I'm waiting for my DJI Osmo 3 to be shipped to me and I saw your review on this gimbal, so I'm getting it. I have the Sandmarc Anamorphic and I tied to balance it on my Osmo 2, but I didn't like it, so I went for the 3. But now I see everything this one can do I may just keep both. I've had my Moza Mini Mi for almost 2 months. I love the may of its features (your 5). 98% of the time, it works like a charm. However, not sure if you experienced this in your usage, but if you leave the gimbal alone, for whatever reason, it turns on its own. I was recording a video of a few days ago and noticed that I seemed to move from the "center" of the screen to the right. I thought maybe I moved without notice. I centered myself into the shot, but again, the gimbal was moving on its own. So, I recorded a 20-minute video with my phone it the gimbal and it moved on its own. No Advanced time lapse or programming of the app. I even used the native app, it still emulated the earth's rotation. Have you had this happen to you?

Would this handle the added weight of say moment lenses and a rode video micro added to the top of it. I believe this has extra mounting spots so how does this work and how does it handle those?

That’s a great question! It does have the capability to hold a payload of 300g so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re able to have both. I’ll try my best to test this out since I’m still waiting for my moment lenses!

EMT I’d be very interested in the outcome. Tried a Zhiyun Crane M but couldn’t really get it balanced with the Microphone on top. Just too top heavy. Weighing up the Movi now as they have developed an attachment for the “arm” to attach an accessory and the counterweight has access to the lightning port. Love the moment wide and zoom and I’m also waiting on the anamorphic to come. Great lenses.

Sorry for the late reply! It’s a tough one but both gimbals will stabilize very well. I feel is the extra features that each gimbal has that makes the difference. Software on DJI is pretty awesome and polished while the moza has wireless charging and ports for extra attachments. What is your main focus video wise and what smartphone?

EMT hey bro.. Iv been doing some more research of these gimbals, and came across the freevision milta m.. Now it looks just like the osmo gimbals, seems like it can do most of what osmo 2 mobile can do, but wondering whether in comparison to rhe osmo 2, is it really better? Would you recommend this over the osmo 2. In my mind now i still have osmo 2 as the best choice due to mostly its app feature which is just on point, and basically it does all that i require. However, the milta m does look sleeker, and thats basically the pull im getting from it. Thought id get your expert opinion on this, whether i shoild just stick to the osmo 2 or perhaps this is much better i just dont know it yet...

Hi EMT, I love that you took this gimbal for a spin. What I'm missing is information what kind of "timelapse" it can do compared to Osmo Mobile 2. Android app (v0.1.1 beta) is not even starting on my S9+ so I cannot check myself. We both know OM2 can do: - timelapse (steady), - hyperlapse (timelapse on the move + object tracking(!)), - motionlapse (programmed way of gimbal move). Can you tell me which of above Mini-Mi can do? (even if only on iOS app)

Glad you dig the video and gimbal! So far the Time-lapse is pretty basic I believe the standard interval is an image every .5 seconds but you could potentially perform Hyperlapse since it allows tracking during timelapse. I’ll continue to explore the settings and make a video about the other options and modes.

Myself I tested already Smooth Q, Smooth 3, Feiyu Tech SPG, Osmo Mobile 1, FeiYu Tech Vimble 2, Osmo Mobile 2, Smooth 4, now testing Mini-Mi. But I'm Android guy so need to deal with lot of issues in terms of software 😪 and therefore I'm still looking for a gimbal that will fulfill all my wishes ;) From hardware point of view Zhiyun rocks to me but their software is crap. Currently I think OM2 is best choice for me due to software quality. I want to have option for m-lapse and hyperlapse + tracking. For video and slowmo I use native app which is great :)

So depending on your model apparently there was an update to the design that removed the 360 paninng. I spoke their rep and the since then have reversed this. If you got the non 360 paninng version. I recommend reaching out to their support team for an exchange if possible. I recently learned of this. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your great review!!1 I really liked the MOZA Mini-Mi, but is it possible to use the native iPhone camera app from the gimbal itself? As you know, we can shoot photos or start recording by pressing the volume button of iPhone and many other gimbals are capable of pressing this volume button virtually via bluetooth connection pretending that they’re volume switches of headphones. Is this the case with this MOZA Mini-Mi? If not, it would be really difficult for me to use the native camera apps since I have to touch the screen to shoot all the time... Let me know your experience with the native camera app!

Glad you liked the video! As it turns out it does now support the native camera app. The only two gimbals that I’ve tested that do this are the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and the Smove Mobile. Hope this helps!

Rajan Kannan Dependa the type of shot. For walking, follow or timelapse handsdown Osmo 2. For B-rolls Smooth 4. I honetly dont use the joystick that much, so its not a bummer for me. Check my channel and see the video the last video i made using only the smooth 4 and my mavic air. The one in Survival Beach was using the Osmo 2. Maybe it can help you decide.

I was very disappointed with the Smooth 4. mostly because the app was buggy on my S9 plus (ie. all of my timelapse and motion timelapse videos ended up pixelated). The wheel on the side turned it to be super hard to use while trying to keep the gimbal steady. The go mode was useless since the motors shake too much when its tries to catch up. Also it turns out, I really want the 360 panning that the Q has. This one seems very promising, and seems to have everything I want in a mobile gimbal.

Thanks you for answer. But I'm only interested in one button - start / stop recording. The work of all the others in third-party applications have not been made by other manufacturers. They will not do this and Moza will not even after six months or a year - this is my opinion. So with the start / stop button - it also works only in the application from Moza, and the stabilizer is not initialized by the Android system, like a physical keyboard (like, for example, does this happen with Vimble 2)?

I actually like it more than the Smooth 4. It’s features are very impressive and the wheel gets you very similar results regarding focus and zoom. They are both awesome! Personally the price of the moza and the extra wireless charging kinda make me go Moza but either one will be amazing! Depends on the type of videos you’re looking to make.

Stabilization is very similar on both. Moza has features like inception mode and wireless charging that are unique. So I lean a bit more towards that. The Vilta M is fantastic as well and the manual motion time lapse mode is very cool and useful. It’s a tough one because both are great. Size can be a benefit to the Vilta M as well. It all depends if those features are relevant to the phone and videos you are looking to make. Hope this helps!

Hey what’s up EMT, love your channel brother. I need some real help from you. Your choice between this Moza gimbal and Dji Mobile 2. It will be used for car reviews, footage of my car, car shows, drag meets, and anything pertaining to automotive as well as Vlogging. I’ll use it for other recording also but not as much as automotive use. Trying to choose a gimbal today or tomorrow so I can setup a appointment time with a BMW and Dodge dealership to start doing car reviews at while working on get in at other dealerships. First things first. Thank you for checking out my channel! I really appreciate your time! Both gimbals are fantastic options and you’ll be able to capture smooth B roll, crane shots and more! The main difference between both gimbals would be the software and that inception mode. I love the mode because it simply looks awesome! Also the Moza has 1/4 inch mounts for accessories like lights, microphones and more. It’s a tough one! What phone do you have?

EMT I have the iPhone 7 Plus. We upgrade to the 11, 10x plus or whatever finally decide to call it in September. I’d truly like to know which one you’d choose for what I’ll be using for and other deciding factors that you know more about than me like options and so forth. I trust your judgment more than mine lol.

You have to use the Moza Genie app and the Smove/Vimble app for that. I’m using the Smove Mobile and the Smove mobile app. Honestly both gimbals are in my bag right now. Love the Moza but the extension on the Smove is killer!

EMT moza has 8 follow mode and so called inception mode.. are these practically significant?? Is there any diy for placing quarter inch screw as to place mic or light Does inception type shooting can be done in anyother gimble???

Looking forward to buy a gimbal..i was going back several times to dji osmo mobile 2 from freefly movi, smooth4 , and smooth q for its superior app ..suddenly came across this one. It looks good. And the features look great. You didn't mention anything about its timelapse features.. if it has hyperlapse with tracking like the dji osmo mobile 2 i am sold. Please let me know..

It does have timelapse and Hyperlapse but software wise I feel that the Osmo Mobile 2 might have an advantage. Also so far the timelapse options are basig .5 second intervals.

I've just bought the Moza Mini mini, after your tips. It's really fantastic but I have a problem when I try to change the menu settings using the wheel. It doesn't work fine. Using the wheel for zoom feature works fine but isn't smooth. Is that normal? Thanx and love your channel.

Congratulations on you Moza Mini Mi! I personally use the auto zoom feature instead of the scroll wheel. Click the bottom of the wheel for that auto zoom and click again for zoom out! I have noticed that the zoom smoothness will vary depending on the device. So far the smoothest has been iPhone. Hope this helps! 🤘🏼

Zhiyun just updated their app so I might have to test this again. So far I’m inclined on the Moza Mini Mi for iOS. Hope this helps! Testing in the coming days. 🤘🏼

Hey! Sorry to bother you, but is this gimbal really good in stabilizing ? Like is it as good as the DJI osmo mobile ? And what about the software? Does Object tracking always work properly ?

The stabilization is pretty good when combined with digital image stabilization in app. Face tracking is very good on iOS. It will vary a bit on Android. But definitely a great gimbal with all features considered. 🤘🏼

For me on iPhone DJI Osmo Mobile 2 or Moza Mini Mi. On android DJI Osmo Mobile 2. Both are fantastic. I do like the wireless charging and the inception mode on the Moza Mini Mi. Hope this helps narrow down. 🤘🏼

The app works great but some modes are not available for android. Max resolution for my S8 + on the moza genie app is 1080p 30fps. Hopefully they keep updating like they have and bring 4K. But most gimbals are in a similar position on android. Hope this helps!

Hi EMT I have 1 question for you mate. How the Moza gonna work with smartphones like LG G6 or V30 with the wide angle, can you see the Moza arm or it's impossible. Thanks

It’s definitely possible. Haven’t personally tried it but as an alternative you could shift to torch position to get the motors out of the line of sight. Hope this helps! 🤘🏼

Great review! I just have one question, can it hold a phone in portait orientation? And how is the usability in this mode. Kindly consider including this info in your future gimbal reviews. Hi Eddie! Do you have recognized any stabilization failure with the Moza Mini Mi? Gimbal received undamaged, bag&boxes and the device are in very good condition after my visual check. First thing to be done balancing the phone, switch on, connect the device. Everything gone well. Stabilization works, but not properly. It looks like the Roll axis motor make "randomly" a shaky rotation, what I feel on the gimbal, see on the phone and the footage is also shaky... The failure is exists in all stabilization modes and during the automated movements in advanced time lapse mode also. Calibrating according to the tutorial of Gudsen doesn't solved the issue. Do you know any tricks to solve this failure (manual adjustment, calibration, firmware update, anything)? I have contacted to Gudsen Support Center, but Chinese New Year Season is ongoing... They will answer, I'm sure. But I want to do everything what I can before a warranty claim at the dealer of my Mini Mi. Thank you for your feedback!

Hello guy (bonjour ;) ) since a couple of days i'm looking for a smartphone Gimbal. I hesitate between Osmo Mob 2, Smooth 4 and the Mini-mi. The first should be the choice of the reason (good app and hardware fiability), but I'm seduce by the features of the 2 others (double triggers, wheel AND joystick, wireless charge or inception mode). I'm using a GS6 on Android ; may I have some problem with the app ? And finaly, have you got an advice for the french geek I am ? Thx...

I feel that the Moza Mini Mi is a great contender to the Osmo Mobile 2 hardware wise. A lot of incredible modes! Depending on the app modes and it’s stability id say Moza but Osmo 2 is fantastic as well!

Got a Moza Mini-Mi and the pitch motor seems to be locked in place so it keeps going into sleep after powering up. I upgraded firmware but cannot calibrate because I can't even turn that motor manually. Anything I can try or just return it?

Are you balanced before turning on? Make sure you try to adjust the grip so the phone is balanced before turning on. If the weight is not properly distributed it will go to standby in order to prevent damage. If the problem persists definitely contact Moza for support! Hope everything works out for you!

I can balance, but phone screen is stuck facing the ceiling (with gimbal on tripod). I think it is going into standby because that motor is jammed.

Try to balance the phone on the grip as well before turning on. You can slide the phone up or down to counter weight. If it’s not working the hit Moza up for further help. Hope it gets resolved!

Don't know if this is something new, but I haven't seen it on any unboxing video, and I've watched a bunch, but the pitch arm can be snapped into a flat locked position for storage/transport. It took a decent amount of force to un-snap it and we thought we were forcing the motor and didn't want to do it. Again, every video shows it dangling when pulled out of the box and there's no mention of it in the manual. Felt pretty dub when we figured it out. 😊 Chose this over smove mobile because I can control more from the handle with my mouthstick. Will tag you when I figure out wheelchair mounting and record some footage. Thanks for all the feedback.

My top 3 gimbals so far are DJI Osmo Mobile 2, Smove Mobile and Moza Mini MI they all have different features that fit different styles of shooting but overall stabilization is pretty good amongst all 3. 🤘🏼

Glad you liked the video! Besides the G5 & 6 Zhiyun makes some action camera gimbals and I believe I’ve seen adapter plates for the RX0, there might be a custom plate for it. The Moza Mini MI has 4 1/4 inch accessorie mounts! Definitely opens the possibilities for mics and lights. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing your time with me!

EMT, I give up! The first Moza Mini Me I purchased, the gimbal just spins wildly when I turn it on. Tech support offered no solution. I bought a second and began the firmware upgrade. It stopped at 85%. After two hours I disconnected it, and now it doesn't turn on. I emailed [e-mail] but based on my experience with the first one, I don't expect much joy this time around. They're both going back to Amazon I guess. I really like the Genie app but DJI here I come. Dang.

Made my first movie with the MOZA Mini: kzbin.info/www/bejne/imqnp2p_n7Ssi80. I can already spot things I'd do differently, like lock the iPhone autofocus off. It's not color graded and I don't have strong FX kung-fu yet but it was a fun effort. Thanks for the tutorial(s). I wish I'd thought it all the way through - the extension arm the Smove has would be handy to film pedals, wheels, spokes, etc.
