Physical? You pick that as a reason to favor Indiana? Are you kidding me? Coaching? How many times has Indiana’s staff, ever, played on a huge stage? How did they do? By your own account Indiana’s coaches had no clue how to deal with Ohio State’s blitzers. Well now you have to deal with Al Golden. Buckle up buttercup. I’m glad to hear the Indiana QB can run. You wouldn’t know it from his stats against mediocre competition. I’ll grant you that Indiana has the edge in receivers, and in the passing game of the QB. But ND has an elite secondary. And, their monster DT is back from injury. It’s going to be ugly up the middle when Indiana has the ball. I expect them to dink and dunk, but that can only take you so far. If the ball is not out of the QB’s hand in seconds, he’s going to be running for his life. And former option QB or no, he’s just not that fast. Good luck. Indiana is a well coached team. But, this year at least, they don’t have the athletes to keep it close for more than a half. That’s what I think. I could be wrong. But everything to me points to a game where a well coached Indiana team at best keeps it close through the first half. But then ND’s depth and physicality take over with explosive runs from Love and Price that Indiana will no longer have an answer to.

Very nice work Sam. I think it all comes down to 1 thing. Will Roark have time to throw the ball. Cignetti said he would not use a Silent count again after Ohio State used that against us with timed pass rushes... If we can call Calls without the silent count, but with signs on the sideline... i think we can throw Notre dame off balance with their pass rush enough to complete enough efficient passes. We play Playoff Football tomorrow...how incredible is this

Notre Dame finally lost the one game that the entire football world pronounced as the worse loss of any team in the playoffs at least maybe it was but NIU went 7-5 . However 2 things happened Notre Dame was now in playoff mode week 3 should've been week one. Second point NIU broke Notre Dame back to caring about the lack of attention to detail that's kept them in constant malaise and fog . Indiana won't won't be sneaking up on Notre Dame and punking us in South Bend......come get some it's about who has the most dudes now

Indiana can win, Notre Dame SHOULD win. -Indiana's average opponent rush offense is in the 100s. The best was OSU in the 50s - who had lost 3 o linemen coming into the game and another early in the Indiana game. 1 - Cig is a good coach. Notre Dame has one of the best coaching staffs top to bottom in the country. Maybe the best OC/DC combo. 2 - ND will have the best O line Indiana faces. OSU's O line was decimated by injuries. 3 - USC and Louisville are both better at WR than Indiana. ND has depth concerns at CB, but the talent is there. 4 - Rourke gets affected by blitz and pressure. Nd will bring the heat. His two worst games were Mich and OSU. ND's defense is on par or better than both those teams. 5 - A&M has a better d line than Indiana. Louisville is on par.

I hope you are right. Indiana is a good team, and they have earned the right to be where they are. But ND is expected to win this game, and upsets are common. I watched the 2009 Kentucky Derby, where a 50-to-1 shot came out of nowhere to win the derby. So there is hope.

@@JohnSimpson-sv6sqThe reason that Indiana has only faced a rushing attack at 53rd is because the B1G is loaded with great run defenses. Six of the top ten run defenses in the country are in the B1G. This skews the data on rushing offenses. If you look at face value it looks like Notre Dame has a great passing defense, until you noticed they only played one true passing team and with a back up Quarterback. You can read whatever you want into stats. If you dig a little there may be reasons for the numbers. I don’t know who will win, but Indiana is better than most realize.

Glad Indiana had their best season ever. But, wow, how embarrassing is this analysis? Each of the factors you listed to prop up your hopes of an Indiana win turned out to be huge in ND’s favor. Which team was more physical, which team was better coached, which QB had the better game, which team could run the ball…. All of that became completely clear as the night went on.

Notre Dame hasn’t played anyone and has by FAR the worst loss of the 12 teams. Hoosiers always blow it in big games though. This might be a game where it seems like no one wants to win. Bunch of penalties and turnovers. Whoever screw up less wins.

ND has been blowing out teams all year, (4 ranked opponent wins) they entered the year with an extremely inexperienced offensive line which was the main reason they lost early to NIU. ND has the most turnovers (28) in the league, and the best secondary in the league. That will eliminate Indians strength in the passing game. ND in the 2nd BEST rushing team in the league (behind Boise), Ultimately ND has more talent and its at South Bend, night game and prime time. Blowout.
