Another reason related to this year's winner: Switzerland. Since 2022, we have been copying this country in placements. In 2021, Switzerland came up 3rd with a song that was one of the favourites. So did Spain in 2022, ending up 3rd as well. In that year Switzerland ended up 17th with a top 10 in jury but having the worst televote result of the night. So did Spain in 2023 with the same results in jury and televote. In the same year Switzerland came badly placed with a good song according to me at least. In 2024 Spain sent a good song that was clear top 10 according to the tops on YT and came up 22nd. Switzerland won that year with the jury's record of "most sets of 12 points", and... So will do Spain in 2025? I really hope ❤️🇪🇦❤️

Spain won 1968 and 1969 Luxemburg won 1972 and 1973 Israel won 1978 and 1979 Ireland won 1992, 1993 and 1994 That's all countries which won two times in a road

Well, it’s no shocker to say that the Eurovision is not won by the best artist or country, but the one with more ‘Friend Countries’. For example, North European countries, such as Sweden or Denmark, would spread out their highest among themselves, including Norway, Iceland or Finland. Same story would go with Estonia, Latvia,Lithuania or Ukraine.

Teoricamente se debe esperar esto, peor si te basas en que España va a redoblar esfuerzos en presentar algo de la calidad de Channel, estás totalmente equivocado. No hay mas que ver cómo ha ido bajando en cada edición del Benidorm Feast la calidad de las canciones seleccionadas

@@johnoflaherty9105 It's also true that the Euro exception were Spain's wins in 2008 and 2012, casually ending up second last in their respective next years. But I trust in the other 4 reasons. Hope is the last thing you loose, right?

@@sergiomontessuarezYep ...a very fair point after all Spain missed out (2nd) in the 1995 contest with a wonderful song to Norway. "Nocturne" was an atmospheric violin solo with a few very repetitive lyrics. Spain's entry was and still is a ESC favourite of mine. 1995 was one of the best contests in my mind anyway.

Honest question - with all of the anti-tourism protesting happening in the country, how is that affecting Junior Eurovision? But more importantly, given the larger scale, if these protests and that sentiment continues, how could that affect hosting ESC if they did win?

Good question. Afaik they're mainly concentrated in the south, but maybe I'm wrong. From what I can tell it doesn't seem to be affecting JESC atm.

I don't think this is happening in Madrid. Rumours say that ESC would be eventually hosted in Valencia, which also has not shown anti-tourism big movements so far.

The protests against tourism are not against all tourism. They are for two reasons. The first is against drunk tourism. They come to Spain to drink (because it's cheaper) and to destroy the cities (because being drunk they don't respect anything, and many young people have already died because of this). And the second reason for the protests is against the businessmen who want to throw the native residents out of the central areas of the cities, to put up tourist apartments. There is nothing against the cultural/family/beach tourism. But like everything, this harms tourism in general. And those who do not understand the real reasons for the protests may feel offended.

They want to win, the problem is the old people choosing the songs, so they are not good. They fired Eva Mora (the one that chose the songs of Befest22 (Chanel, Rigoberta Bandini and Tanxu).

BeniformFest isn't cheap. It costs 4,5 million euros for 3 shows. RTVE could spend that money in many other things. It's clear they have received an assignement from the governement. Proposing itself to host Eurovision Junior also isn't cheap. RTVE will spend 5,5 million euros in organizing the contest. That budget is established for some reason.

@@ramonparada so RTVE created Befest and sent Chanel (the clear winner of ESC22) to not win? Blanca's performance was expensive af and they spent that money because RTVE thought they could win, so your theory is wrong. We want to win A LOT. If Spain wins the audience will be huge for RTVE and Benidorm Fest, and a new star will be born, so all the discographies want to be the owner of the Eurovision winner of Spain. Sorry for my English, trying my best jaja.

You are basing your predictions on some political views you have on today Spain, when the reailty is that the situation is similar to Ciprus where something unexpected to all of us happened two years ago with Chanel.

The difference is that Cyprus is sending pop divas with choreography since then while we are sending different entries. Cyprus hasn't won since Eleni because they are constantly trying to replicate that formula

I honestly don't think that Spain is on an upward Trajectory overall, the Creative Director of Benidorm in 2022 and 2023 got kicked out and it's very noticeable: the Songs in this Year's Benidorm were (imo) significantly weaker than the Year before. I - hands down - didn't like a single Song in the whole Selection, perhaps Remitente, but did it truly live up to Eaea? It's almost an Archievement to archieve such a THing as me liking none of the Songs: I liked almost all Songs of Vidbir and even Germany's Selection which is infamously terrible had a Song that I listen to to this Day. Spain's Eurovision Result also reflects that Drop in Quality: Zorra received only 30% of Eaea's Points, even if Eaea scored only 5 Places higher, that does show that while Zorra was well-received among the Spanish and Eurovision Fans, it didn't click outside of that Bubble. 5 Televoting Points are terrible, but it's not like 11 are a great Result either. And at least Eaea placed 10th with Juries, so that Entry had some Merit while Zorra worked for neither. Even Run Un Ah Äh, one of the most hated Entries before the Performances, got more Televote Points than 11. The most interesting Thing is that in the last 8 Years, we had 2 other Big5 Countries in the same Situation: Germany placed 4th in 2018 and fell off immediately - through harder than Spain, I'll admit that. But so did the UK which almost won (and probably would have without certain Events) only to fall off back to 25th Place in the following Year and getting Nul Points from Televoters this Year. I think SloMo was the Exception that proves the Rule. PS: Saw you posting against the pro-palestinensian ESC-Bubble-Mob (there is no other way to call it at this Point) on Twitter the other Day and already voiced my Agreement there, but I just want to add how I like that you are going against the Flow. I wouldn't go as far as to call it courageous per-se, but these Days, you fully have to expect getting boycotted or receiving malicious Comments from the ESC Community if you dare voice an Opinion that is not 1000% pro-palestinensian. It's admirable.

Ah yes, I know what you're referring to. I certainly don't have anything against pro-🇵🇸; after all, 🇵🇸 are humans like us and deserve their rights as much as anyone. I just find it rather two-faced for some in that camp to champion peace and 🇵🇸 rights on the one hand, but to bully others who they judge to be genocide supporters, when really, they know next to nothing about what those people really believe.

I don't wanna be that guy, but four and a half of the five reasons you give aren't reasons at all. The only one that even vaguely has a chance of positively influencing their chances is the success of Benidormfest attracting higher-calibre entries, and even then there's no guarantee that the one with the best prospects at ESC will be chosen. But yeah, enthusiastic fans and sports results and such have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I understand you need to keep creating content, but when we don't even know the songs yet, this is nonsense, pure speculation. Unless we are saying sings don't matter in Eurovision...

Well as you say, it's just speculation. But I do add the caveat at the end that when we get the BF songs we'll have a better idea of whether Spain could win or not.

We never will win eurovision …. Lots of countries from north and east never vote us too much. Just Portugal always give us Lot of points …. We are Very kind with france and italy and they never give us points … we have to be perfect to have lot of points like Chanel but some countries never give us points. In Two / theee times Spain was 2th and 3th and north countries ( including iceland) didnt give us Any points and others 12 or 10… they vote themselves Thats why Spain didnt win … and never did…. I reconige Spain had Very bad songs Lot of Years.

Lo que deberían hacer es retirarse unos años como ya hizo en su momento Italia e invertir el pastizal que se gastan en cosas productivas para el país que hay muchísimas a las que prestar atención: sanidad, educación, ley antiokupas ya, inserción laboral para los jóvenes y mayores de 50...es mi opinión pero se gasta el dinero en una cosa que no nos beneficia a los ciudadanos. Más bien nos entran ganas de llorar pues tal parece que año tras año Europa se ríe en nuestra cara.

Portugal is unique and deserve always better positions and im Very angry with spanish Jury …. Maro, Mimicat, iolanda, the black mamba, claudia pascoal really love them… Portugal is always very generous with us!
