Use cv in 1 and 2 to pitch sequence the 2 oscillators separately (cv outs on your oxi for example)

I bought the original Syntrx. I wish more manufacturers would go the way of Erica, and make a total new beast out of the next generation, instead of an MK2 that makes the original design obsolete. There's a lot of differences between these two machines. I imagine some feeling cheated by Erica, feeling to have suckered into buying the original when they marketed them as final batches... But I'm one of those people who wouldn't choose II over I due to it's uniqueness with spring reverb, speakers (miced for feedback) and ring mod as destination in the matrix. I don't care for the vanilla reverb an delay. But I got to admit that recording of the joystick is an amazing feature that would have loved on my unit. :)

Nobody that bought version 1 should feel cheated. In a decade it’ll probably be valued much higher.

It seems this is a new device which is very versatile and full of possibilities, but very complex. A great synth by Erika and really a milestone in synths. Hope it becomes a big success

Such an amazing instrument, thanks for sharing!!! Was just about the purchase a Arturia Polybrute (totally different I know) but this has put a curve ball in the decision tree. Now re-assessing studio needs. Primarily I want a performative instrument with (as much as possible) knob per function - as I really enjoy the isolation of a singular instrument and learning that instrument and playing it well. Was also going to replace my ARMK2 for a Perkons and the same reason, knob per function performance and visually you can see more open what is happening within the machine (I'm finding the menu diving on the Elektron gear a bit of a drag now). I'm also finding the 8/12 tracks on the ARM2 a bit of overkill as I always seem to or naturally only use 4 tracks, any more it just get to dense/cluttered and if there is a track I feel like I need to use it haha (silly I know). Not really interest in samples on the Electron boxes and can always use an external sound source on the Syntrx 2. Initially I was thinking no saving of knob positions (but can initally work around that with some old school pen and paper/template for patches that sound good. That will be overcome with time as I learn more of how to dial in patches and synthesis. But also thought when using my A4M2 I'm always using an INIT and never the presets and dial in sounds. Sorry for the long winded message.

This is great overview exploration example…. I would love to play on this analog beast… this inspired me to use my soft synth Synthi emulation by Arturia that I slept on. I was sound bombing for hours based on your clear introduction. Cheers

Hey man! Was wondering do you maybe have any experience with the Intellijel Cascadia? Both the Syntrx2 and Cascadia appeal to me as they both offer immediate modular sound design and exploration in one box. I was wondering which would be better?
@OoraMusic9 ай бұрын
I would LOVE a cascade. Everything intellijel does is amazing to me. Syntrx is very experimental, you can do crazy soundscapes, casccadia is the way to go for melodic stuff

I really like this review which is very helpful and refreshing compared to most. I had the mark I but sent it back as I just couldn't get into it. However, almost 2 years on I am now regretting it as I am much much more interested in experimental sound design (for want of a better, overused phrase) I like that fact that you can randomize patches which excites me as most of my inspiration comes from random happy accidents. That's how I mainly work. I already have a Pulsar 23, Make noise modules, Typhon and Lyra 8. In your opinion, do you think this would add anything to my sound palate ? Is the Bass deep ? Thanks.

I used to like Erica Synths until I started comparing to SOMA. I think SOMA is the king when it comes to experimental synthesis. I know they make very different synths but its kind of hard not to compare both brands.

Why does it have to be a contest though. Both companies make incredible machines.

I know this is an unfair question, but do you think the Syntrx 2 is more fun to use than the Easel command? I like some of the sounds of the Syntrx but I feel that the Music Easel with the keys seems more fun and performance oriented. I know its double the price though.

@OoraMusic Great, I appreciate the feedback. I might order one. I just wish there was a way to save knob positions since I have limited time to play with it each evening, but hopefully, it will say somewhat the same by just turning it on and off again.
