Thanks to your awesome installation and selection of components, we’re huge Victron fans, too! One of our favourite features is the hybrid inverter, which allows us to use our air conditioning, even when we’re moochdocking. Of course 810 Ah of lithium battery power and 1500 W of solar makes that pretty easy even when we’re Boondocking. ☀️😁

Such a great feature! We were at Elys parents in ABQ working off about 100ft of 15A cord and were able to dial down the input current limit (so the voltage drop didn’t make the EMS drop power) - that way could use about 10A AC to keep the batteries topped up and the little sun and the hybrid function to run the space heater and microwave and all of the things. Victron can make a pretty crappy power situation pretty comfy.

#6 Power sharing. Being able to moochdock off a 20 amp cord and run a small generator to power the AC makes victron the game changer.

That hybrid/assist function is totally worthy of a #6. Crazy that you can mooch (even off a 15A) and still run the AC and Microwave etc. Solar keeps coming in and as far as the function goes may as well be on a 30A service. Good call! Thanks for watching.

Great video! All of our equipment is Victron except for our battle, born batteries. When the multiplus II first came out we were quick jump on it as we have a big 42 foot motorhome. Love it! But really wish they wouldn’t nickel and dime on small things adding Bluetooth to a $1200 inverter should not need a $70 dongle.
@mytsolar
@mytsolar Ай бұрын
We don’t use the VEBus dongle in any of our builds as we have the Touch 70 and Cerbo GX combo which is much more significant. We do have a MK3 dongle that we use in every install to program the Multiplus though. I agree it’s weird that every device can be programmed with Bluetooth except the Multi. That’s for watching our videos!

Without a doubt victron is one of the best. In the last 5 years though, so many have entered the market that it will be interesting to see who can make rivaling quality. On my boat, only the inverter and batteries are not victron.

@ I’m using as a “always on” a 500 watt Bestek, it’s cheap and has low idle draw. And my main inverter is a 2000 watt Renogy, which I turn in only when I run a proper load.

2022 28 DBS. All Victron except batteries. 3x100ah Battle Born. Victron Multiplus II 3000 + Cerbo GX & Touch 70. Entire setup under the bed. Considering removing the drawers (below the bed) and adding more battery capacity. I would love to see a video on how to install and program lighting and fans. 510W (170Wx3) factory solar on the roof. Have questions on your rooftop solar racking. Considering removing the Winegard antennae on the roof and adding a second solar array in series separate from the factory 510w. Thank you your great videos! Love ORV!

Sounds like a nice system! Love our ORVs! We had a video about adding fans a few weeks back. You can probably find it. We’ll have a more detailed version of how we use the Cerbo Relays and do the temperature controlled fans and lighting coming out soon. Sounds like you would probably enjoy a little more solar and a little more battery capacity. Good luck with the project and thanks for watching .

Great information. Solar (particularly "mobile") has come so far in the last 15 years. It has also become reasonably priced. The variety simply wasn't available. We were using components designed for commercial/residential use. Solar panels that weren't designed for RVs-using aluminum angle to cut/drill and make our own panel mounts. Outback inverters, morningstar charge controllers. No-they didn't communicate with each other. Small LCD displays, cryptic settings it was a journey. A few years later I got my first Victron MPPT charge controller and battery monitor/smart shunt - and with the app, I knew Victron was on to something. MYT Solar will install our next system, it will be Victron. See you in June.

Hey Rick! Thanks for the rundown on the old equipment. I definitely have heard a few similar reports of how they were doing it in RVs 5+ years ago. I’m lucky I get to work with this awesome equipment each day. The monitoring is probably the number 1 in my opinion. See you in June!

I bought & installed the 12-volt MK-II 3KVA inverter, but my coach is only pre-wired with a looped 30-amp circuit. While some say I just needed a simpler single L1 inverter, I know that the MK2 has to be backwards compatible for that visit to state parks with 30-amp single 120-volt service anyway. Since we camp off-grid camp hosting six months of the year, this single 30-amp circuit runs all of our appliances except our 1,100-watt Microwave, electric fireplace, the bedroom AC, and the converter (obviously). I figured I would bring 30-amp L1 in through the new 32 amp disconnect being sure to bridge L1 & L2 at the Disconnect input so that it pretends to be 120-volt 30-amp at the State Park through the 30-amp dongle at the pedestal. 50-amp L1/L2 service actually will look like this also the way that the Inverter Pre-wire is run. The Output of the MK2 will have both L1 & L2 going back to the other half of the 32-amp disconnect, but only L1 will be physically connected to the other 30-amp breaker going back to the AC Breaker box. Doing it this way means I have to run the generator to run the microwave or the bedroom AC, but at 8,500 feet ASL in CO we rarely run the AC anyway. We camp host in the USFS National Forest supporting 50 campgrounds, all without any AC power. Perhaps next winter when I get tired of starting the generator I will get my fish-tape and run new lines for the 50-amp input side and then another output run back to the breaker 50-amp box. When spending several weeks making crimps and bending wire, I like to do things in phases. I definitely like Victron products, they are doing well in our Brinkley 5W RV. @@mytsolar Despite our wishes, many of our camp hosts show up with a single Group-24 L.A. battery and a 50-watt solar panel and proclaim, "I have solar!" During the Interview process we already vet out 9 of 10 candidates who want 50-amp AC power, 1 Gbps Internet, and full hookups. In the national forest rarely do such resources flow organically. So, we target the Quartzite full-timer crowds who have a little better chance of success and know what LIFEPO4 means before I ask them. Cheers, David

Thank you Tom. What are your thoughts with the Epoch 460 batteries with Victron?
@mytsolar
@mytsolar Ай бұрын
I don’t have any experience with the Epochs but I do see their popularity. I know a few installers who use them. I’ll have to get my hands on some before I say one way or the other. But there are a lot of good brands of LifePO4 out there and I would guess Epoch is one of them.

I love your great information and amazing energy!! (No pun intended) I plan on using all Victron parts except for the batteries. I'm planning on using three 48V EG4 server rack batteries. Are you willing to install a 48V system with those batteries and Victron everything else? You're knowledgeable and close and therefore a great option for me if you're willing to do the system I envision. In the meantime, I look forward so watching many more of your videos. Cheers.
