In this video, The Lallantop's Kuldeep Mishra explained the Justice K. Hema committee report and its findings about Malayalam cinema. The report of the three-member Committee formed in 2017. The report was released on August 19, 2024, and revealed shocking tales of discrimination, exploitation, and sexual harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry. The report was submitted by the committee to the Kerala government in December 2019 but the government took 5 years to release the report with limited redactions. The report reveals that sexual favors have been considered a passkey to the Malayalam film industry for a significant period. The report claimed the existence of a power group that is controlling the whole industry. Sreelekha Mitra, the Bengali actress, expressed her story about how Ranjith, a senior director and ex-chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy tried to harass her sexually in 2009.
