I usually see that the first step base mesh is done in Maya. Is it easier and faster to use it for a basic shape than with a Zmodeler in Zbrush?

Hello. I have been seeking an answer to this question, and have yet to find it in any tutorial or online info. I do not have a Maya model broken into pieces that I want to import into ZBrush. I have a tree stump I modeled in ZBrush, and now I would like to add some ground around it. However, as most things in ZBrush, this is anything but a straightforward process. I looked for a flat, 2D plane from which to start. Apparently there's no such thing?? At least, I could not find anything in the tools. When I loaded in an extremely flat cube (or a plane with some thickness), it replaced my tree stump. (Although, I am assuming that, if I wanted to use that flattened cube, I could bring it into my tree stump work space?) Anyway... how do I use my tree stump as a "template" around which to build my ground around it? I want them as separate models that I can texture elsewhere. And, I think I want an infinitely flat 2D plane from which two build my ground / soil? Or, does ZBrush not provide such a thing? I hope my questions are clear. And, thanks.

Hmmm, I am having an issue and maybe you could help me with it. When I try to do 3:15, subdividing my model it just shrinks after I subdivide twice. Any ideas why that would happen?

In maya if you can remember I extracted all the walls. I guess you missed that step. It can be single object also. In that case you need to Bevel the edges to avoid that.

Smooth the model in 1subdiv level in Maya itself then go to ZBrush. It shouldn't happen.

There is another solution. In ZBrush click off the smooth button just after Divide button while subdividing.

Actually I have a low poly model created in last videos. Now I will extract the maps from this model to render the low poly models in Maya.

If any one else is experiencing Poly Frames not working - export the files as an OBJ. Then you will see that the Poly Frame will colour all of your model

I think my Maya exported sections are being imported to Blender in pieces because I can only see the lines (Line fill - Poly F) on one object at a time (e.g. the front wall has lines but the other side walls and chimney do not. The imported object in the tools section also shows only 1 object with a number in the top right corner, and I'm able to switch between each object and the "Line Fill - Poly F" shows on that selected object. Any thoughts on how to import all the objects as one instead of in pieces?

hi sir , im facing a weird problem doing this .. have followed every step and exported the model in Zbrush .. i cant sculpt on the left parts and even when i open in substance painter .. i find my model is incomplete .. i have looked after the issues like UV maps or reverse Normals .. everything is fine but i cant solve this please help me ASAP .. hope ill get your reply soon

Try adding in Maya (walls model) some edge loops, check it on 3rd mode (keypad number 3), it should look the same on mode 1

I have the same problem. It seems to me that geometry is not enough, but the tutorial contains the same.did you solve this problem?

@@nicol2052 yes I did. I just mesh smooth the object in maya I gave 2 divisions and then exported it. And then further divided 4 in zbrush and sculpted. It came out right. Like you said the geometry wasn't enough I didn't know how he could sculpt it with low geometry lol. I hope this solves yours.
