Great tutorial! How do you preserve the polys when you extrude from a mask? Mine just stretch out and when applying dynamesh, it just looks terrible. Alle edges get "destroyed".
@RobotArmy3D
@RobotArmy3D 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, do you mean you get jagged edges around the extrude? you could use the Zmodeler brush to extrude poly selections, this is like an extrude in maya or such - or if you just want to drag an masked/unmasked selection (what I do normally) out then make sure there is enough resolution and soften the mask a little so that its not a 100% sharp line, this should give an extra few polys to stretch out so it's not too jagged, then you can stick a clay polish on there or use the hpolish to sharpen up those edges. Hope this helps.

I'm getting very jagged, stair-like edges when I make cracks at 3:45, will they be fixed if I do re-dynamesh? Or are there other ways to fix it? Thank you for the tutorial btw :D
@RobotArmy3D
@RobotArmy3D 2 жыл бұрын
You most likely just need a bit more resolution in the mesh, try subdividing it or dynameshing it a little higher before doing the cuts, they should then be cleaner. Cheers 👍
@pilotgfx
@pilotgfx 3 жыл бұрын
if you wonder why your clip curve locks to 60 degree cults, you need to press ALT ALT, to unlock the out-angle. many youtubers forget to mention the shortcuts they press, also they produce some stair-like, very jagged results, even at high divisions. but all in all nice tutorial
@pilotgfx
@pilotgfx 3 жыл бұрын
but i dont get why everything you make looks so smooth, despite level of polygons my creeks are extremly jaggy, especially at particular angles
@RobotArmy3D
@RobotArmy3D 3 жыл бұрын
I definitely get jagged edges and need to re-dynamesh, it's mostly planning, i try not to do clip curve after a certain stage or else i will have to re-dynamesh and that will reduce quality on any details i've made so far. often the cut i want to make doesn't work out so i'll have to make a shallow one or do something else entirely.

when i try to clip my object like you did at 3:18 it just makes my object do something really weird and i cant figure out why its doing that
@RobotArmy3D
@RobotArmy3D 3 жыл бұрын
I'd need a little more info to problem solve that, or a screenshot. From what you said, it could possibly be that parts of your mesh are still very low poly, this will cause odd shapes to be made.

@@RobotArmy3D ok, it was just low on resolution, I had to set my dynamesh really high to get good results. Thank you 😁

Hi, what's happening? Sometimes it's best to mask everything but the part you wish to clip. Or else you can often get errors. Also angles that are too sharp sometimes don't really do anything.
