@mli30833 жыл бұрын
The reason he draws the bow like that is because he's holding it perpendicular to his body, whereas in other games he holds it parallel. If you try and make the drawing motion yourself, you'll realize it's much easier to draw palm facing "out" from this position.

I feel as if not only he lost his memory, but feel as if it reverted his fighting instincts back to their primitive state. That could very well be why he holds the bow that way. This is actually a very good question, the distinct lack of emeralds is surprising, we have Ruby - Goron Zora - Sapphire Topaz - Gerudo? Luminous - Zonai Opal - Rito Amber - that one blade of grass near death mountain. Diamond - Hylian Emerald would fit koroks of course but where does Amber actually go? Shiekah?
@mrlborges3 жыл бұрын
@@acamera367 never thought about the stones being connect to each race, besides the obvious ones (ruby, sapphire and emerald). I always imagined the Zonai are connected to the Deku Tree and the koroks in some way. The swirl of the Zonai reminds me of the Koriki emblem, something that weirdly I have heard a lot of people talk about. Plus the region they’ve supposedly lived is in the Faron province where the Kokiri Forest could’ve been based on the geography of Hyrule during Ocarina of Time.

@@mrlborges huh, that's absolutely true actually, admittedly I think amethyst could be a safe inclusion for a sheikah gem but.. we never really saw any super important Amethyst. I don't remember where it was, but I remember watching a video that talked about different ways to draw a bow. The one Link is using has several disadvantages, but it was used at times because you can fire faster using that method. The notes on the Sanctum are positioned in a way that we can’t really tell if it’s Zelda's Lullaby or the Ballad of the Goddess. Both songs are basically the same, but backwards versions of each other. Both the first and second notes seem to be on the same line so it could be either one. I guess that’s intentional, but the whole design is actually the same one seen in the Gate of Time from Skyward Sword so it would make more sense for it to reference the song in that game.

Interesting bit of info on the bow draw. It is a style of drawing a bow called the palm-out draw. Alot of competitive compound bow shooters draw this way. Another reason to use this draw style is if your using a left handed bow in your right hand, and as we all know link is left handed in most of the games. This might be a little reference to that. So maybe all the bows you find in game are left handed bows and he is having to compensate for that.

I guess many have already commented on this but here’s a little fun fact about Link’s bowstring draw: It’s the same as the Na’vi in James Cameron’s Avatar film. While researching and thinking about details to make the Na’vi more distinct from humans one possibility Jim Cameron thought about was “what if they shoot their bows differently?” He came up with the idea of flipping the drawing hand upside down and, much like you, he consulted with the professional archery coach they hired for the film. The coach was skeptic because of the impracticality of it, the loss of accuracy from the unnatural position and, as your friend said, the strain it puts on the shoulder. Jim immediately proceeded to draw a bow like that and, luckily, hit a hay bale they were using for target practice. The coach was impressed and they experimented with it until they got the hang of it and fortunately nobody got injured from drawing the bow palm out. I don’t know if Link drawing this way is a coincidence or a nod to the Na’vi, whose name is identical to a certain navigation fairy we all love to hate, but it’s a cool similarity.
@jenniferchough3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what James Cameron or his archery coach were smoking but the way Link draws his bow is a legitimate technique in field archery and James Cameron did not come up with it (what an ego on that guy). I've been in field archery for 14 years and my teacher has been doing it for 45 years.

Perhaps it's just an uncommon technique in Target Archery but a common one in Field? I couldn't say since I know as much about archery as the next guy but thanks for your insight. I'm curious though, what advantages/differences does it offer as opposed to drawing with your palm facing in?

I have a mini theory! tingle was found again for doing something and was put into jail, hence why we can find some of his outfit in the expansion pack.

About the kokiri emerald, the zonai swirl kind of looks like it, or could be a reference to it, but that’s my best guess.

@1:48 I believe that the throne room also mentions or references the Prince in blue (from you're first video), I am not 100% sure about it but I remember a video that was solely about the prince in blue.

These were more along the lines of just very obvious details in Breath of the Wild, except for Zelda's Lullaby hidden in Hyrule Castle, which was a pretty cool find

The kokiri symbol can be founded on Lurelian Village, just in the shield hanging on the ship shaped houses.
@MiffyPaul Жыл бұрын
That is ACTUALLY the symbol of the Zonai! If you look closely the kokoriki symbol does NOT have a tick at the end of the swirl BUT the Zonai symbol does SO does that mean the people at lurelilan village are decedents of the Zonai?

I've noticed Link drawing with his palm facing outward, but I've also seen characters in movies do that too (Legolas, for example). I assumed it was a cultural/military thing. What's weirder to me (and I'm surprised there wasn't a mention of this in the video) is that he appears to hook all 4 of his fingers around the string instead of only 3.

I don't know if you covered this like during memory where link is talking with the Daruk. And then all of sudden death Mountain starts to rumble and it spews out of fireballs. Luke says that's strange this mountain has been quiet for decades then he cuts to saying that if it's speeding up Fireballs that big and I must be and then he says never mind. What do you think he says or meant by that.

I never noticed until now but King Dorephan makes a reference to The Faces of Evil by calling his son “My boy”, he even laughs at it.

The kokiri emerald is referenced. It's the spiral symbol of the zonai. You can also see the symbol in wind waker.

Im pretty sure me or one of my friends had a stalnox wake up during the day once. I remember being so caught off guard like, "What are you doing up? Go back to sleep! You really need your beauty rest!" My friend's game glitched all the time. She had a blood moon at a random time during the day. No lead up to it, the cutscene just interrupted what she was doing.

I just came across Kass in my playthrough after playing the Champion's Ballard where he confirms that Zelda is in love with Link. Found him in Rito village by the little singing birds and he made me come back at night and sang the ballad about it.

i don't know if this has been mentioned yet and personally i haven't seen a video about it but if u go to the (lon lon) ranch ruins at night you'll see a single stalbokoblin riding a stalhorse. i'm pretty sure this should resemble ingo who's still trying to win the race in the afterlife. i think it's a pretty cool hidden detail

The forest gem belonged to the Great Deku tree and his forest spirit. So if the insignia exist in BotW it would be in the lost woods and korok forest.

Also lesser known E3 2016 secret: in the shot where link is riding a horse on the Bridge of Lake Hylia you can see a shrine on the Great Plateau, but it is orange, which means it is incomplete. So either originally it was intended that you didn't have to finish the Plateau shrines or they skipped it for the purpose of the shots.
@SinisterShrink3 жыл бұрын
I think the spiral symbol seen in the Zonai ruins around Hyrule in BOTW might be a reference to the Kokiri emerald. Since the Zonai symbol even has the little tick at the end of the spiral.

On Link drawing his bow: My theory is that when Link draws his bow, he holds it horizontally. If he held his bow horizontally, it would feel more natural to draw the bow with his palm facing down rather than up. Then once it's pulled, rotating it vertically would cause his hand to rotate so his palm faces away from him. I'm not sure if it's just me, but he doesn't seem to hold the bow perfectly straight up anyway, so perhaps he initially draws it horizontally, then rotates it a bit to make aiming easier. With how young he was when he pulled the Master Sword, he likely spent most of his life training in swordplay and may have never been taught how to properly use a bow.

There is a small manga where the artist drew Link shooting exactly like that, when criticized about it. He explain that it was a the way some ancient Asian tribes used to do it.

I draw palm out sometimes depending on the weight of the bow
@godalseif3 жыл бұрын
i think link draws the bow weird is because he holds the bow weird. generally youd hold a bow mostly vertical with a slight tilt inwards and draw across your chest from there, but link holds the bow down lifting it up mostly horizontal while drawing the string meaning that having the hand on the other side of the string would actually have the palm facing upwards as apposed to how he does it here with the palm down which feels more natural like how you would pull the string to start a push mower

I think the “link pulling the bow wrong” thing was actually a design choice for him. He holds it wrong in every art and trailer for breath of the Wild. I don’t know what Nintendo was thinking, but this would be a pretty big mistake if it was one. As an archer, I’ve never seen anyone shoot like link in BOTW but I thought about it to see how impractical it is. Might try it and see what happens, lol.
@thomas_threat3 жыл бұрын
an easy answer to the bow draw issue: in popular archery formed through media, you mostly see the arrow nocked in an interesting fashion, this being on the inside of the bow wrist. the reason this is weird is because doing so would require the archer to release grip of the arrow and turn their wrist in order to draw the bow, thus increasing the time to effectively fire. two solutions to this are to either nock the arrow on the outside of the bow, as we see link do in oot, which can have some accuracy issues but was historically used as a common draw. the other solution is to nock the arrow in an overhand grip, as you see link do in botw. while it does put unnecessary strain on the shoulder, it is quite effective as a quick draw technique and you dont really tend to see a decrease in power or accuracy. with modern bows, we see arrow rests (a cut in the middle of the bow to allow the arrow to rest in the exact center on both the x and y axis) implimented to prevent this issue entirely. source: archery practitioner for 20 years.

I have one that almost no one would know. I didn't see this myself, but in a link to the past, if you go to the lost woods where you find the master sword, you can find 3 silent princess flowers. In BOTW if you go to the master sword resting place, you can find 3 silent princess flowers in the exact same locations.
