What a fun vlog! I love hearing about WHY a particularly pattern becomes a favorite with a sewist. I had not thought about the Agnes top for me because it is so fitted, but then you showed your straight side version and it looks perfect!. I also loved your suggestion of a white linen Logan Shacket! Thanks for sharing with us today.❤

Hi Sally great video I agree with you about side pockets they always seam to fall to the back not so bad if you can sew them into the waistband, love the selection of patterns.

I am going to try your idea of making a white linen Logan Shacket as a layering piece. Patterns are getting so expensive so it's nice to be able to use them multiple times. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sally, I love the Safiya trousers too, I’ve made 5 pairs so far, 4 of which are full length 😂 There’s a pocket pattern piece printed on the pattern and instructions on the “make it your own” section that has the top of the pockets sewn into the waistband. I’ve used it on 3 of my pairs and it works really well ❤

Yes, I was also guilty of buying patters, just because everybody seemed to make them. The one that was not a success for me is the Darling Ranges dress. And it bothered me that I had spent so much money on it. But I had completely forgotten, that there are 2 more options included. Thank you for reminding me, I will have a look at these and maybe be able to make the pattern work for me. Lovely vlog.

It's so funny how a pattern can work so well for one person and not for another isn't it. Enjoy making the other options, I must try the straight version soon xx

Hi Sally, thank you for this video, I found it really helpful and I particularly enjoyed you explaining the backstories of the patterns and how you have used and adapted them over time. I am afraid I buy way too many patterns, always tempted by something new, and I am embarrassed to admit I have made up probably less than half of them!! I am going to take your lead and try to be focused on finding patterns that work and that I love, plus ones I can then try and hack as I become more confident. Thank you again xx

Thank you so much for watching I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think it's all about learning what works for you, in the beginning I did buy lots of new patterns, I think now I'm a bit more in tune with what I'll actually wear :) xx

Great vlog Sally. I used the Agnes for my first jersey make years ago and didn’t get on very well at all. I think I chose the wrong type of jersey. The neck was so wide and I don’t think I ever wore it. I made one for my Dil to wear under her dungaree dress but I raised the neckline. For those reasons I haven’t revisited it but might now. I agree about the Safira trousers. Mine are all ankle length without lengthening them. I’m just about to make another pair with a coord top, yet to be decided,I had wondered about doing culotte length but I think I’ll stick with what I know. I was also going to try pockets as it’s an option in the book. However I don’t like doing pockets and can get in a muddle😆 I’m also very interested in your darling ranges dress as had this pattern years ago but haven’t tried it yet. I try not to keep buying patterns ( so expensive)so hacking them is the way to go. I love all your Logan shackets. I’ve yet to try an Ogden cami and favoured the soi silk cami which I felt had more coverage but was still cool. This vlog has given me lots of inspiration. Thank you 😊

When I saw sewamelia had tagged you, I had fun guessing some of your choices, and I looked forward to seeing this video. Btw I guessed Sofiya trousers and Logan Shackett. I’m not good at remaking patterns as I’m always tempted by something new but I do love the Willandra Trousers by Muna and Broad and have made a couple of pairs of them, my go to t-shirt pattern is the Cottonwood tee by Canyonmoon studios, this is a first pattern from this designer and if you are round (like me ) it is perfect. I have loved my York pinafore by Helen’s Closet and I think I will make another for this winter. You have inspired me that I need a shacket in my wardrobe and I have the Muna and Broad pattern so I think that needs to be made up for the Autumn. Thanks for your inspiration, I always look forward to your videos, they are my regular Sunday watching! X

I could definitely have predicted your first 4 patterns 😊 and probably the 5th 😊 I’ve just made my 5th pair of Safiya, full length in a gorgeous navy floral viscose, they look really smart! Also finally got round to buying the Agnes top, what’s the min amount of fabric do you reckon I could get away with? I need some basic tops so looking forward to this make 😊
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress Жыл бұрын
Haha I'm very predictable ;) I need another navy pair of Safiyas my navy ones have been worn to death! I think you can get the Agnes out of a metre if it's wide. It does come up quite long so you could always take a bit of length off if necessary x
