The worst thing about 'Tubelight' that I felt was it's too much of a feel-good movie. A time comes where the Protagonist actually deals with the fact that his brother is dead, and actually puts his shoes off from that valley as per his wish. He grows up. The whole emotions built up in audiences by that sequence ruin up when we realise that his brother is actually alive 🤦 matlab kuch bhi.

I remember watching Jab Harry Met Sejal in the Theater Hall..... And getting pissed off when it was revealed that the Ring was actually inside Anuska's bag.... The attempt I perceive was to communicate how the journey to seek for the ring was actually just a facade to cover up for not being sure of her marriage. An escape she intentionally thought of, to embark on this path with SRK. But its so paper thin, the audience is only creating the motivations and intention: does not ever land with the film itself

Jagga Jasoos was ahead of it's time. I liked that entire concept ,quite fresh and slick. It has also been a hit on OTT. Writing was weak in the second half, but that vision was amazing. It deserves a universe. GenZ will lap it up. 'JHMS' mainly failed due to caricaturish portrayal of Sejal's character. Cringe dialogue delivery and stupid/cute stances. It kinda disturbs the vibe throughout the movie. Tried to pull off another 'Geet' but failed terribly.

The issue with Tubelight was not Salman's character being "timid or under confident". It's the way of execution, IMO. If SRK can nail a role like the one in My Name is Khan which was also kind of same character as this one, then it purely showcases the acting prowess of the individual. Through these years, Sallu bhai has type casted himself in the same kind of roles. Hence, experimenting with new challenging roles doesn't fit anymore.

It is partly true. The thing is that Shahrukh never really confined himself to the alpha larger than life roles but the flipside is you can't blame Salman for giving back to back hits while playing the similar prototype. I really respect the actresses now a days, but honest even with actresses such as Deepika or Anushka, it feels more of a mentor ish relationship. I'd say the best actual romance I felt from SRK was in his snipbit cameo with Ash in Ai Dil Hai Mushkil. We need to see mature actors with mature actresses. I feel like it's about time, that stories about romances at a later point in life, gets made, and the audience will follow.

I feel the main reason why some of these movies, like No Smoking and Jagga Jasoos, fail is the entertainment factor. See, When I was younger, I had a love for movies with An intellectual quotient in it.. That too in Theatres. Now, since I am working, I know how important my time is.. If I go out.. say on a good Sunday, I am not only spending on Movie ticket(s) but also fuel, parking ticket, snacks, and stuff.. And also giving a considerable amount of time of the day.. I would love to watch a movie that entertains me.. In simple words.. Logic ghar chod ke aaunga taaki mind refresh ho jaye.. naa ki aisi movie dekhun jisme mind aur ulajh jaye And by saying that, It doesn't mean that I hate smart and realistic movies.. I would prefer to watch them at home.. And I guess this is the reason why most of these smart movies fail at the BO.

You saying that you liked movies with intellectual quotient when you were young doesn't make sense coz No Smoking must have been released in your younger days. Aur is logic ke hisaab se in next 4-5 years..Intellectual aur deep movies banana hi band ho jaayegi or atleast theatre releases toh band hi ho jaayegi aisi movies ke..coz most of our generation by then would be a family person by then nd the younger generation is already preoccupied by Reels, Snaps and Shorts and getting dumber by the hour.

His brother got saved in the end but he was so physically and mentally injured that he was unable to recognise laxman..very emotional scene .. That's what wars do to you unfortunately.. Kabir Khan and Sk duo is a genius by showcasing that ..

Some of the main reasons I feel why these big films fails are the expectations of the audience coz of the actor & director's previous films and them wanting something totally different. And also the marketing which does not let people set their expectation right for the kind of movie they are stepping in for (Like Tamasha)
@TriedRefusedProductions

Yes I heard the biggest reason for Tamasha's failing was its marketing that presented a lively romance but eventually became an existential film which people were not ready for
@seemonjena659
@seemonjena659 Жыл бұрын
If that was the case gems of movies like Tamasha, Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year, Lootera, Action Hero, Bhediya (in the recent times) should have been successful. Alas they are not. The problem is the 'audience'. When filmmakers and actors really venture out of their comfort zone and put a lot on line to create something never before seen people don't appreciate it and then crib saying that filmmakers are not making something different. Marketing should not be an issue if audience goes to the theatre with an open mind to see something new. The problem at times is that we have so much of pre conceived notions that we don't want to give anything remotely different than what we have been subjected to a chance.

Tubelight reminded me of Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder when it came out. Ben Stiller gets panned for a similar role after doing only action films. Almost all the films had a common problem, messy writing. All of these were highly ambitious which makes me suspect if the makers were too confident about their films. But as a cinephile, it does hurt.

It might sound an outrageous statement, but Jagga Jasoos reminded me of GUGABABA-Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen. It took me to a world full of childhood adventures-a magical town, a boy chasing his dreams, strange surroundings, songs used as dialogues! What I felt that apart from the delay, the film presented the fantasy in an understated way which failed to capture the attention of the masses who are not familiar with the style. And about Harry Met Sejal, in it’s core it is just like any other Imtiaz Ali film. The film had wonderful music. SRK proved why he is still considered as the king of romance! I somehow felt Anushka’s character was completely out of sync. The intensity with which Shahrukh portrayed his Harry, was lacking in Anushka’s Sejal. That’s why the romance didn’t bloom on screen.

Kalank had everything except d story n characterization. Jhms is like seeing scenes from a already watched movie. Each scene reminds u of some other romcom, that's y audience can't connect n indulge in d story n characters. Of course, it's time fr actors like srk n aamir to get out of this liplocks, bikinis, six pack kind of romances films. Expecting them in movies like drishyam. Actually I had imagined aamir in hindi remake of drishyam when d announcement came first. Though Ajay had done well but aamir can give intense performance like mohanlal n kamal which Ajay missed.

Imo no one was exited for Jagga Jasus, many reasons for that, delay, cheap copy/rip off of Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura that majority of public didn't got connected to. Speaking of Anurag basu, all he do is copy paste scenes from several Hollywood movies. Same with burfi. Taking a good story and then made an entire movie from Charli Chaplin's several movie scenes. I hardly see any genuine creativity from him. Kalank was very hard to connect with audience with its extra glamorous look n set & poor script, screenplay. Kite was too slow, boring and yes language problem. It was an alien movie in that era. What you said abt tubelight is true though. Audience can't digest Bhai in roles where his character is weak. If he's not doing any Dabangai then he's not Salman Bhai.

Loved your point on TUBELIGHT AND KITES. I guess after mammoth success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman anticipated for content driven or challenging role but the box office numbers made him typecasted in a particular role or particular genre. I like Tubelight but it was so over the top that normal audiences missed the connect at whole. And talking abt Kites, Ig from music to story it was something differently attempted on big screen by bollywood. And JHMS was a case where product totally missed the expectation, collaboration of Anushka, SRK and Imitiaz was something people were celebrating but product was avg and looked more fabricated, Anushka's character was a big miss otherwise with music and the message movie provided was not at all bad.

Just my opinion, but I feel Imtiaz Ali consistently chooses to focus on the same themes in his films. Ali depicts and captures the main character's intricacies and his/her subsequent acts, while fails to reveal the character's 'problem’. The audience had already reached saturation by the time Jab Harry Met Sejal released. Additionally, the way in which the plot was told made the movie dull to watch.

Jagga Jasoos too I enjoyed. Kalank can not be fixed it was just a lesson to be learnt. Maybe if Varun's character fell in love with Alia's character before knowing she was to be married to Aditya thus his revenge plan falls apart or something like that. See... can not be fixed. Jab Harry Met Sajal needed more time for the script a golden fleece is hard to write you can't just put together a few locations and situations. That damn accent 🤨
