The step by step instruction on this is better than anything else I've found on KZbin. Can't wait to take some of these techniques out on the course and improve my short game.

Great summary of short game issues. For pitching, I started to experiment with different clubs from a 52 degees wedge to a six iron, depending on the ratio of distance on the green vs distance to the green, upslope vs upslope vs flat surface. This is giving me an array of pitch shots to suit amost any pitchable situation. It requires a lot of practice though to internalize what shot with which club will produce what result.

Good video, My method is I use a 56 degree wedge for most chipping. The club is delofted way back in stance, open stance , choke down near steel. If you rock your shoulders with a level action. No wrists. I know by the amount of shoulder movement, like putting, I can gauge distance control. I use the same stroke with different wedges, 46,51, & 56. For different pin positions. sometimes 60, only when necessary. I am very good & accurate. Many years used in competition. Getting used to the ball you use is very important, feel & check spin.

thomas ross Like your comment on ball choice. My experience is that for full swing it does not make much difference, but for pitching and chipping, a different ball may chnge the results quite dramatically with the same stroke

This is what I've been doing - usually - but never knew why it worked or didn't. This video zeroed me in, and I'm pretty consistent to within decent putting range. Thanks!

Hitting the course first time , this year on Sunday, and this is where I looked horrible. I wish I could've watched this on Saturday! Your videos really helped me off the tee, so I cant wait till next weekend to try out these drills! Maybe get a respectable score!

Thank you, great video. For bunker shots, do you agree to think hitting the ball because we automatically come into the sand several inches before the ball because we dig in the feet a bit?
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
This usually don't yield great results but if it works for you then it's fine.

Everything you’ve said made sense up to the point that should said shaft lean, I’ve always been told not to crank my hands forward as the club will dig. I’m using 59’ Edel wedge with over 20’ bounce and it digs
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, forward shaft lean is essential for stable impact and to compress the ball. If you're digging with that much bounce then you're most likely really chopping down into the ball. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

very good explanation and demonstration! I have one problem: when trying the pitch shot I wanted to create more loft as you explain by forcing the lead hand to be more in the front. By this I loose the feeling of a „pendulum motion“ with just letting the club go. Worse, I ended up in having a series of shanks which scared me a lot ... My question: where to put the focus, what is the reason for these shanks? Best regards, William

Just for people new to the game if your wedge makeup is 54 and 58 degree wedges, they are also fine to pitch with :) No need to change the bag to 56-60 to have two options for that kind of shot :)
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonas, I actually prefer 54-58 for better gapping. You can have either though. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

great video. I use my 56 for pitches and PW for chips/bump n runs. Sometimes I find that my 56 glides underneath the ball in certain lies and it doesnt go anywhere but I think that is just poor technique on my part.
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If you have a lot of bounce on your wedges then it will do better in plush and wet lies. Less bounce does better in dryer lower profile lies. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

When pitching wedges actually WERE for pitching, they were 52° and greens were slower. Today’s PWs are strong 9irons and greens are faster than my bathtub.

Never really understand taken the loft of the club why not use a less lofted club? Thank you
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, your impact is more stable if you have forward shaft lean since the force is leading the mass. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
