these are some symptoms to know if a budgie is going to lay an egg. i also want to add tail bobbing because of the big-sized egg inside them, they have hard breathing. it also happens when budgie is sick, don't be confused. the first sign when i knew Kira is going to lay an egg was big droppings. it was big as a thumb nail 😕

Hi! Please help me, my budgie is pregnant and has laid quite a lot of eggs 10 days ago. Right now 4 baby birds hatched and are growing. But I don’t see the ‘full’ crop at any of them (I looked yesterday) but they are growing, so i think they are being fed? And the pregnant budgie also flaps and twitches her wings vigorously when she’s out of the nest. Is she sick? Or is it normal? Thanks for reading and please reply as fast as possible.

So yea, I've got a problem. I have 2 budgies who just decided to mate in my tall black dark cage. But here's the thing, I don't have a nesting box, and really, at the moment, I can't make one. She decided to lay eggs in the food bowl, which is slightly bigger than someone's adult hand, and proceeded to lay 4 or 5 eggs. So do I just wait for them to hatch or do something else.

She might be pregnant with an infertile egg since coconuts induce breeding behavior and can cause females to lay eggs, or maybe they did mate but you didn’t see them.

My budgies mate then 2 days later the egg appears, they mate again then 2 days later another egg appears and so on until the female has enough and stops letting the male mount her and then the eggs stop. Not sure why yours mate and then 10 days later the eggs start appearing. I have 3 breeding pairs and they’ve always laid the egg 2 days after successfully mating. I think possibly you just saw them practicing 10 days before and it was an unsuccessful or unfinished mating attempt. It takes them a few goes to get it right and you can tell when they have completed the task. I know for a fact that my budgies lay an egg 2 day’s after every mating session because they were separated from each other and mated straight away and 2 days later - an egg!

I’m trying to learn all I can about this so I’m well prepared but every search, like literally every search, there’s something about egg binding and it’s made me terrified and been overthinking a lot I go to school and can’t keep an eyes on my budgies and I suspect they mated when I’m out the room or while I was at school So I literally have no way of knowing when she should be laying Idk if it’s even been 6 days I can’t find a video ANYWHERE describing the day by day changes leading up to laying so I’m sitting here hella paranoid that she’s egg bound But she’s eating, playing and seems pretty alright, but the only thing throwing me off is the swollen abdomen cuz that’s also a sign of egg binding, according to this vid it’s also a sigh of a healthy budgie carrying on the 9th day hHhH so I rly don’t dont know and I’m scared for her life, I love her a lot but I can’t afford vet so if she is egg bound I might have to do it myself... which is a whole other level of scary... 50/50 chance she’ll make it The thing that scares me the most is how small she is, she’s a tiny girl, shorter than the rest, I’m scared asf that the egg will be too big for her tiny body cuz the male is a normal size but heavier than her so eggs might be too large..... idk someone help me If you wanna talk to me in pm on insta or something (where I can send pics of her) My insta is : Taehyungie_army_

@Alicia Laurent heya! My girlie ended up laying 8 eggs! It’s absolutely normal for there to be a small bump right before she lays BUT if you haven’t seen any mating and the bump persists over several days, you should be worried Unfortunately, out of the 8 eggs only 2 made it and unfortunately 1 of the 2 was an albino who was very very weak, she passed away at 6 weeks I was waiting until the two birdies could eat on their own until I removed the mother and let their dad raise them but they started mating again and I’ve got 5 new eggs, I’m monitoring her health and she seems to be doing really well but I will definitely have to work something out because too many eggs can lead to her essential minerals and vitamins being piped out of her which will lead to death So just keep an eye out for any of these things and if you wanna chat in private where I can explain more, my insta is Taehyungie_army_ Hope this helps!!
